Chile has been in Lockdown for most of 2021. Things were improving when we booked our flight, the lockdown was easing and Chile had a great vaccination rate. Unfortunately, the day after we landed in Chile, Santiago went back into full lockdown and the borders closed. Luckily the lockdown restrictions began to slightly ease in our Comuna, and we were able to visit with our two friends we had flown in to see. As of today, July 2021, Chile's borders are still closed and the state of emergency is in effect until September 2021.
Comunas at Paso 1 (Quarantine) are subject to 24-hour quarantine.
Comunas at Paso 2 (Transition) are subject to 24-hour quarantine only on Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays.
Comunas at Paso 3 (Preparation) are not subject to a quarantine.
Pasos 4 and 5 have further reductions on the imposed limitations and prohibitions of activities.
