China Aviation Industry Corporation of China (AVIC) has promoted the Z-10ME attack helicopter at Africa Aerospace and Defence (AAD) 2024, South Africa to attract buyers from countries on the African continent.
This model is a development of the initial Z-10 version refined for export and designed as a multi-purpose attack helicopter.
The Z-10ME development was first showcased at the 11th Zhuhai Air Show in November 2016.
Since then, the helicopter has been showcased at various other major defense events, including the Dubai Air Show in 2017 and the Singapore Airshow 2024.
One of the major upgrades on the Z-10ME was its engine, using the new WZ-9G engine replacing the previous WZ-9, increasing power from 1,250 hp to 1,500 hp.
The Z-10ME is also equipped with additional armor around its fuselage and cockpit, which provides better protection against small arms fire.
The Z-10ME is also designed to carry jamming pods for electronic warfare missions.
In terms of armament, the Z-10ME has a 23 mm cannon and four external hardpoints, supporting a payload capacity of up to three tons.
