If China wants to have a real peace in the Taiwan strait, they should just maintain the status quo. Let Taiwan exist on its own and just maintain a good economic relationship with Taiwan. That's the way it should be.

Americans and Taiwanese had 75 years to insulate Taiwan from Chinese expansionism and from a Ukraine-like situation. What have they done? Next to nothing. Worst, it was the US who, under the fallacy that Japan needed be taught a lesson, first threw Japanese Taiwan under the bus of Chinese irredentism, instead of shepherding it toward independence in accordance with UN charter article 73. The neighboring countries of Southeast Asia definitely support reunification. …The reunification of the mainland back with the ROC . Let’s face it : while the younger government on the mainland had their fair shot at it for the past 75 years, they still haven’t been CLOSE to matching the relative progress, freedoms, and successes that the ROC has achieved & bestowed for its people on Taiwan. If I am not mistaken, the founding father of Singapore, Lee Kuan Yew (新加坡国父李光耀) had said that "the future of Taiwan is not determined by the wishes of the people of Taiwan" ........ as the "Taiwan’s international fate was, in fact, sealed a long time ago at the Cairo Conference in 1943.." .... because it was agreed that, Japan🇯🇵, in order to end the war, must surrender unconditionally and to return back Manchuria, Taiwan and the Pescadores islands to CHINA ... Hence, from 1945 to 1971, when ROC🇹🇼 was the legitimate representative of CHINA to UN🇺🇳, every member state to the UN🇺🇳 (including US🇺🇲) knew full well that Taiwan is a province of CHINA (that is Taiwan belongs to CHINA) .. in fact, Lien Chan (连战), the 13th governor of Taiwan province and James Soong (宋楚瑜) , the 14th governor of Taiwan province are still well and alive in Taiwan. For 22 years, from 1949 to 1971, US🇺🇲 was helping the Generalissimo 蒋介石 Chiang Kai-shek of ROC🇹🇼 (which US🇺🇲 labelled as "Free China"), in the civil war, to "re-conquer" the mainland from the PRC🇨🇳 (which US🇺🇲 sanctioned it as "Red China) ... and today, US🇺🇲 has the cheek to allege that Taiwan is not an integral part of China.

Unless China changes their form of government into democracy like that of Taiwan, then the probability for unification is feasible.

Conference of the 9 Power Nation dated Feb. 1922 had agreed to respect China territories integrity. This international agreement is recognized by the U.N. Charter of 1945.

The Republic of China, founded in 1911, still stands in Taiwan. If the CCP (PRC) wants to talk about unification, then as long as it gives up its illegal political power and national title, the Republic of China will naturally be unified.

Sure "Taiwan" will unify w/ the PRC, if the KMT and DPP can have power there, and if democracy is also maintained. But that's not what the CCP wants or would agree to.

The panel used some bent terminology, such as "the Ukrainian Conflict". A more appropriate term would be the Russian Invasion of Ukraine. It started in 2014. This should be corrected by moderators. Linguistic semantics are very important to the CCP as they shape reality with false monikers elevated as existential concretized certitudes. Terms such as: the '92 Consensus, The Nine Dash Line, (now ten dash) are examples. When non-CCP actors let them get away with this relentless control of language, without their own narratives voiced...they are acquiescing to the CCP. If one is to retain agency, all CCP rhetoric must be made transparent as such, and not displace your own narratives. Slava Ukraini, Keep Taiwan Free. Remember, Trump will sell out allies such as Taiwan, Philippines, Ukraine, Baltic States, Finland for a song. The US desperately needs a new generation of leaders and the reform of the GOP back to a pro-democracy platform.
