Mate, your Chinese is very good. I lived there for 6 years and could never converse that well. I appreciate the translated subtitles and the fact that Sun J speaks quite precisely and a bit slower than what we would normally hear among 2 native Putonghua speakers.

Absolutely awesome. To see someone at that age be so flexible and fast is very impressive. Not that 43 is old, but at that age most people's fitness starts to decline drastically. Also, very good advice from him on trying to be methodical, to master the basics first before attempting anything hard. Cool hairstyle, too!

@Wen6543
@Wen6543 10 месяцев назад
@@icyboy771z Yep, i´m 42, in my 30s i started to feel the aging, new problems appearing and older ones getting drastically worse, still was pretty strong and functional like in my 20s but very far from what you would call healthy and optimal. When i turned 40 i said enough and started to make a special diet just for me (started with keto, fantastic but couldn´t sustain it after a year), night and day difference, MANY things were grinding my health, only wish i paid more attention to my diet when i was a teen, or in my 20s. Big advice for the younger ones (older ones too, never too late), the basis of your energy, health, etc. is the diet, diet, diet, DIET. The best supplements, the best medicines, etc. are in the food, but also the poisons. If you are 20 and feeling good eating garbage imagine how much better would you feel avoiding harmful foods.
@Wen6543
@Wen6543 10 месяцев назад
@@icyboy771z Oh, i started mountain biking around 10 years ago, while i was good still had problems specially with lack of air, now i´m surprised, my timings are similar to the averages of profesional mountain bikers half my age and i´m never out of air and my BPM are on the lower side, my muscles are the first that say "no more boss" and are hypertrophying like never before. Last months i added running and increased the training for my upper body, constantly improving in everything. Diet, diet, DIET. However, i do need more recovering times than younger ones, no doubt about that. Not a big difference but still there and unfortunately it will increase little by little each year, but with good planning i can see myself way over 70 being a healthy, fit and active man.

Another reason he's avoided injuries is that he just trains smart -- approaching each trick gradually and progressively, always relaxed, not pushing himself into tension and danger. He is a GREAT example for any young athlete.

I'm going to send this to my animator friends. This is fascinating. I'm around his age and just started getting into callisthenics. I didn't realize how posture really affects everything. I saw a chiropractor for ten years and he fixed my posture so much so I don't even think of it and people compliment me on my posture now which is always really unexpected to me. So definitely not taking our body for granted. I really liked how he said take a scientific view and also really commit to what you're doing. I never thought about it before but there must be an overall different muscle growth training as he does. Overall body confidence. I also didn't expect the language and it's greatly appreciated because you committed to the language level you were at. (Which seems pretty good!) Cheers

Very impressive interview conducted in Chinese. He’s super nimble and strong, kinda like a rock climber. I’m 48, raised in Beijing and trained in javelin. Then I stopped all sports activities after coming to the States when I was 18. In 2012, I picked up CrossFit and have been doing it since. Some of the movements are very difficult, such as bar muscle ups, overhead dumbbell/barbell lunges, squat snatches, especially with heavy weights, but it brought such a great sense of accomplishment when I can keep up with the young dudes.

While scrolling through the comments, I found yours to be very inspiring. Good for you brother, that's awesome you are doing this! I just turned 46 recently and I really don't know much about parkour. All I know is stuff from watching a few videos, but it seems like an adrenaline blast! One thing that I can tell, it doesn't seem like you need much of anything to get started. Lately I've decided I need to start taking my health seriously. The list of my bad habits is rather long and my cardio sucks. That being said, despite being my worst enemy, I'm still alive. Now is the time to ween myself off of my habits and start living! I really think that finding a sport that I'm passionate about, will help me both physically and mentally. Thank you for posting your comment. I want to wish you all the best going forward. Take care 😎👍

I started going to classes in the gym, and it's getting me in better shape, and helping tons with confidence. However you approach it, it's definitely not too late to start looking after your physical and mental health, and parkour is brilliant for both! All the best to you.

Imagine the things ancient warriors were capable of by physical training alone....i think our movies and history channels on the past are vastly underestimating the skills of humans. There were tales of warriors who can scale entire walls alone. But now any sort of claims of the past like that we dismiss as hubris, just because the average modern day under-exercised person who spends most of their day on a screen can't run for more than 5 minutes.

Great enterview, loved to get to know Sunjie. Though, “what is your favorite western athlete” is such a bad question on its own. You travelled all the way to China to meet with a true pk god, didnt you consider to ask him if there are others underrated monsters there like him? Whats the relevance to rate even more western athletes when there are so many good people out there training?

Getting athletes to interview with you would be good - you may have to do online, but maybe, a well coordinated, planned, booked ahead trip could cover quite a lot of athletes. I think athletes might prefer this to you 'diagnosing' from a distance?

Being a pro gymnast before definitely helps but this is still very inspiring. Chinese gymnasts start training as toddlers. His joints and white connective tissue must also be so genetically robust though. Parkour looks rough on joints and white tissue which is what you need to stay healthy and strong in order to maintain explosive power with age. Muscles you can still train and maintain well into your 60s but most ppl start having joint ligament and tendon issues that keep them from their age proportional full potential.
