Seeing China's nightlife was my first awakening on how Western Press was full of BS! Back in Summer 2023, there was this massive story on how "China is gonna collapse in 23 days!!!". When I heard that, I took it as my signal to go visit China when I still had the chance. It will be a great trip. I will see all the places I wanna see before the whole country collapse into social disorder. Also, I will get all the tourist spots to myself because the Chinese economy is collapsing so no one could afford to travel... Right? Right? Oh how wrong was I to assume that after trusting the Western media. It was rammed EVERYWHERE I go! I had issues booking the HSR because they were been bought up. There were families everywhere taking their kids, probably, on their first holiday ever because of the lockdown. I went Wuhan, Zhangjiajie, Wudongshan, Xi'an, Huashan, Chengdu, Chongqing and there were tourists everywhere. All the HSR stations, malls, restaurants and high streets were PACKED with people! In a strange twist of fate, I had to return to UK for family matters Winter of 2023. That was day and night when compared to China. There were boarded up and derelict high streets everywhere. I grew up in Liverpool and the only thing left was the city centre. Places like County Road and Allerton Road were just shells of what they used to be. Manchester's Salford Quays was half abandoned.
Did you manage to visit the "The Xiong'an New Area" in Hebei Province. A fantastic completely built metropolis, costing over USD90 Billion to build City, a.k.a. Xi Jinping City , which is presently in 2024, recognized as PRChina "LARGEST GHOST CITY". ? . It has been said, this beautifully built city has remarkable good roads, and fully functional tall buildings and residential areas, and even large Shopping Malls. Additionally, the City has the Largest High-Speed-Railway HSR Station in the PRChina, but has only one daily scheduled line-service i.e. Beijing to Xiong'an and vice versa, as a result.. Visitors had described .."The Xiong'an HSR Station was almost completed desolated and devoid of people."
Yes! I missed all those crowded street with thousand of people walking around in China go shopping and eating everywhere! Can't wait to go back to enjoy the noise and happy gathering, enjoy your cool beer!
Those videos that show nobody on the streets declaring businesses were going out of business. Apparently they haven't walked in a US mall before 10am, same thing happens with China. Stores are closed so no customers. However, in the US businesses are going out of business now.
Also, some of those videos show old malls or high streets that have been left abandoned because a new mall or district have been built two block down the road. There are old districts even in city like Chengdu and Shenzhen. A lot of these abandoned places will probably get torn down and replace with some whacky malls. Jesus Christ, I have seen a mall with a horse stable and track in the top floor. It's so wild and unusual.
What he's saying is true. I've lived in China for over 17 years. I left for 9 month and I'm back. I miss all the crowds and the atmosphere. I live in Kunming, China. This place is amazing too. When you come here you will be amazed too. Believe me.
If you think China's safety is because of the camera, then you are wrong. It is our culture, education including family education at home taught by our parents, good and caring government that sincerely works for our people and country. If safety is because of many cameras. Why is the country with the highest number of cameras not as safe as China? Please google this "country with the highest cameras per capita in the world" China is not the highest.

Tks for the videos make it easier for me to decide where to visit in my next trip to China. I love walking streets and night markets.I been to China 3 times in a roll. so many things to see so little time. So far only travel to big cities like Beijing, Shanghai and Shenzhen that's where the planes land from my country. I am too lazy to travel outside of those cities. Love to travel to smaller provinces will make more efforts in my next trip. Fall in love with China its culture and people. Food is amazing i diet before i travel to China and diet after i return. Already planning for my next vacation to China .lol
the east side of downtown Vancouver is like that only the crap moves a bit west during summer. I just don't get the politicians here. There must be special interests and unfavorable costs/benefits at play for the government not to take action.
Many business media are reporting China is back to the bustling normal in all the major vibrant cities! And many who had lived in China for some years, left, then they yearned & go back to China again to live there.

I watch your channel, mexicanos en china and jabiertzo (I speak Spanish), as well as Serpentza and Laowhy86. Oriental Pearl has also done some videos in China-but she's mainly in Japan. Anyway, would you ever do a video on your favorite and least favorite provinces or areas of China? In 2016, I had the opportunity to live in Jiangsu province for 6 months. My travel was limited. I got to see Shanghai (of course!), Suzhou and Wuxi-that was about it. Due to my dad's failing health I had to return to the U.S. I wish I could have seen more of China.
Thank you for the sharings, Gweilo! I noted more youth than the elderly, understandably. Yes, China can literally spin on her own economically. But if she can bring the rest of the world forward peacefully, I am ok that she stays communist with an economically socialistic with Chinese characteristics.

Its like going to Vietnam from Thailand, you want to return as soon you get off the plane. You miss the excellent food, the security, the friendliness, true not false like Vietnam and the Philippines.

Watching numerous Asian related channels I've come to the conclusion the most beautiful women are in China and second place goes to Vietnam. The weather is true. In North America jet streams push storms through to clear humid weather out. Here it just dumps on top of it and doesn’t push the weather system out. That’s why there are so many floods here.
i came back from China a few months ago, the local economy is booming, the malls are full of shoppers, street stores are busy, the restaurants in all sizes/scales have mega long queues - this is everyday affairs and the naysayers keep saying China economy is collapsing.
The weather in the south is very hot, and the shop opens very late. Usually after 10 o'clock, and people will not come out in the morning, it will be the most lively at night
The last time I was there, my breakfast cost me $2 with a drink. Dinner $5. Might be cost a bit more after Covid. And of course if you want to spend fancy, you can.
There's no doubting the Chinese economy over recent times is incredible, but right now there's been a pretty serious housig "buble burst" in much of the country and a pretty real crisis with large developers. Good news is this housing crisis is causing the industry to get some common sense regulation and the government is lowering interest rates and down payment size for new buyers. Keep the videos coming and I really enjoy the ones you do in the evening that show such vibrancy (your quiet morning ones are great too).
You mention downtown Nanaimo, Vancouver Island. I lived in Pandora Avenue, Victoria, V.I. for 7yrs from 2008. Druggies, Tent City, filth, at least two dead druggies a week in the Avenue. Probably worse now.
Night life is real in China, there is always something to do at night. Even during the off season, the tourist areas flourish at night. I could barely walk down West Street in Yangshuo during the off season, it was packed. Even in smaller tier cities there are things to do. China has a very vibrant night life. There are just a lot of people. And I've walked the streets late at night and always felt safe. Looking down back alleys at night and watching elderly men play mahjong at 1:00 in the morning, you get the picture. Yes, digital cameras still have not caught up to film cameras at night. Can't wait for my next trip.
It's a beautiful night in Mr. Kirk's neighborhood indeed. Night market is very common in Southeast Asia since day time is just way too hot, especially in the Summer.

While in canada people are struggling with rent/mortgage and high cost of living, i can’t imagine if Trudeau government manage china with 1.4b people what will happen….and can’t believe people still so fit in china while the chinese buyers i met in real estate here canada most are very chubby though
