could you use orange juice on the cake before adding the butter cream to keep it moist or would that ruin the flavours?

Yes if you wanted to you could try that. It shouldn’t dry out though as long as it’s stored correctly 😊

What if I want to make it with some melted Terry's Chocolate orange and not the extract? Would that work?

@@ms.angel.in.i If you can't get hold of orange extract (it is available from Amazon and many supermarkets sell it too) you could use orange zest for the cake sponge to get the flavour. For the buttercream you can add melted chocolate orange, maybe 75-100g? I've not tested it myself so I can't be accurate.

@@KatBakingExplorer thanks for letting me know! I can find the orange extract - I just wanted to know if it could be done with melting a chocolate orange to give it the true flavour without an extract, juice or zest 😊

@@ms.angel.in.i orange extract contains orange oil, which is what Terry's use to make their chocolate taste of orange, so it is a true flavour of the chocolate :)

How on earth do you beat your icing sugar into butter (etc) without it going all over the place???

I only use the brand Tate & Lyle, it doesn't create giant clouds of icing sugar like other brands do because it contains maize starch which helps to prevent this.
