Dr. Rajsree Nambudripad, MD is board-certified in Internal Medicine and founder of OC Integrative Medicine in Fullerton, California. In this video, she first explains why cholesterol is ESSENTIAL for your body. Then she explains why LDL is the "so-called" bad cholesterol and defines the "true" bad cholesterol. Learn about large fluffy LDL vs. small dense and oxidized LDL. What are the real ROOT causes of heart disease? How does Inflammation and Insulin Resistance impact your risk of heart disease? How does your gut microbiome impact your risk of heart disease? Learn about the limitations of the Standard Lipid Panel and how to look at the whole picture when it comes to your labs. Learn about the Advanced Lipid Panel. How can you calculate your risk of heart disease using the ASCVD Risk Calculator? When is a CAC scan helpful? She reviews the pros and cons of statin medications to lower cholesterol. Finally, she explains how to manage your cholesterol naturally through diet, lifestyle, and some key supplements. She explains all the different types of fats in the diet including omega 3 fatty acids, monounsaturated fats, saturated fats, hydrogenated fats, and trans fats. What should you include and avoid in your diet? What vitamins can help keep your heart healthy? What natural supplements are effective at lowering cholesterol? In this comprehensive video, Dr. Rajsree presents the latest medical literature and brings clarity to this often controversial and misunderstood topic. She presents interesting patient case examples to better illustrate her points and keep you engaged!

This is why i like Integrative Medical Doctors like Dr. Rajsree more than most of the Conventional Doctors out there. Integrative medicine does not stop at just practicing what they learned in medical school, but the most important thing is, it is a continous research work which Dr. Rajsree is doing to have more options on healing other than only conventional and traditional treatment.

Thanks for watching! Yes I have seen counterarguments regarding the erythritol study but most are from those in the keto space that are very pro-erythritol as a sweetener. However, I have never liked sugar alcohols to begin with due to the impact on the gut microbiome, let alone the cardiovascular system.

@drrajsree
@drrajsree Год назад
Thanks so much for watching! In my last video on Longevity I explain why eating too much animal protein is bad for longevity and anti-aging pathways. Animal protein activates the mTOR pathway. So either way, eating more vegetables is recommended and smaller amounts of animal protein if any (vegetarian also fine). ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-AHdzEfy4Nkk.html

Hi! Thanks for your video! My daughter had a high a1c (6.1) and a platelet count of 550 on her lab test 2 months ago. We changed her diet a bit for 3 weeks, then she went in for her glucose monitor test, and she was fasting. Results came back normal. But her platelet count went down from 550 to 404 , which was still a tad high. What could this be from? She has also developed bruise like spots on her feet, and doctor said to have podiatrist take a look. They didnt know. The doctor said not to worry about her platelets, since she is slightly anemic. I am more anemic than she is, yet my platelets are normal. Any info would help.. my daughter is 12. She went back to normal diet, which includes bread and some sweets. Not too much, but like a normal kid. Not a bunch of candy, of course, but maybe a cookie or a homemade pie on the weekends, and bread at least once or twice a day. I told her we shpuldnt relax just yet, and must be careful. I would like to know what can cause elevated a1c and high platelet count? ❤

My father has dizziness for more than a week. He started feeling dizzy after drinking too much vodka. He drank vodka for 1 week. He started feeling dizzy, he also has a feeling of vomiting. His blood pressure is normal now, but sometimes it was low, sometimes it was high. We went to a neuropathologist, but nothing. This may be a symptom of alcohol poisoning. ?

Why not saturated fat if LDL is not necessarily bad?
@drrajsree

Everyone is different and responds differently to saturated fat as I mentioned in the video. The best way to know for sure how it impacts you is to have your doctor check your sdLDL and oxLDL.
@bobcocampo
@bobcocampo Год назад
@@drrajsree The presentation is confusing. Saying saturated fat has no proof to cause heart disease and then not recommended. Saturated fat is stable even when heated compared with other fats. i dont understand why saturated fat is considered dirty keto when all studies is using saturated fat on keto diet. Why is then carnivore not recommended? The video says that the problem is when you combine carbs and fats, then why not carnivore? Why is there a bias with vegetables and demonizing unprocessed meat. How about processed food made from vegetables?

@margaretharris9855
@margaretharris9855 Год назад
@Bobby Ocampo Bobby when you review the literature collectively, saturated fat doesn’t have a link with CVD. However, each person breaks it down differently and that has to do with your genes. Some people can handle more saturated fat than others. Also, two plates of saturated fat will provide different information to the body. For example a little bit of grass fed beef on top of a salad has nutrients, fiber, and plant chemicals that will turn off some genes that will make risky cardiac metabolites and feed the microbiome vs a burger and fries which promotes inflammation and a cascade of undesirable events in the body such as promotion of carcinogenic compounds, and an immune system going haywire from the chemicals from frying and in the processed breads etc. if you don’t eat the plants, your gut microbes have nothing to eat and will promote disease eventually. So saturated fat within a wholesome food matrix isn’t nearly as concerning as a diet loaded with only saturated fat or saturated fat with bon bons to finish it off. Again some people can handle a keto diet better than others but even the keto people tell you to get a variety of herbs spices and low starchy vegetables in there. The data on the microbiome is very clear that a diverse amount of plants are important, regardless of macronutrient making up the plate. But even the plants that work with your body can be very individualized. This is the beauty of personalized medicine!
@bobcocampo
@bobcocampo Год назад
@@margaretharris9855 Your comment is not answering my question. Making a long winded answer does not make your comment correct. Carnivore diet proponents are saying that their microbiome is as good if not better than with vegetables

This doctor quickly stated that saturated fats raise LDLs, while quickly showing a picture of a cooked steak. The implication that this equated with bad LDL, which contributes to higher LDL & inflammation in the body. This equation with saturated fat meaning higher LDL, & the implication of higher LDL, being the CAUSE of inflammation, heart disease & stroke is WRONG. There is some good info, otherwise, in this video. It is designed for an 8th grade level& the music is added to make the audience more suggestible, I guess. But, the info is delivered at such a rapid pace, as to hypnotize(by overwhelming the viewer with repetitious influencing about cholesterol. Also, this promotion is positive in that it talks about the emphasis on large cholesterol, less dense, & less quantity of cholesterol(in liver) being desirable. This implies that a test which assesses size of cholesterol particle will be more effective than the std. conventional & ineffective cholesterol panel & reference ranges, which are often harmful for patient therapies.She corrects that assumption about saturated fat at the end of her podcast. This is a very good podcast, overall,UNTIL she dissed the carnivore diet. This seems like a food industry, plant-based & vested interest podcast.
