I just bought two different kinds of honeysuckles myself and am so excited for them to grow. I love the variety you have. They make for delicious infused drinks. 🙂 Great video. Thank you.

Very informative video- got right to the point. I was debating whether to buy it from Amazon ($28.66 for 1 gallon). Your helped me decide (you read the tag for me) to purchase it. I just subscribed to you. I want to see the progress of your design and work. Thanks!!!

That’s great to hear! I hope your Amazon order comes in okay, ordering plants can be a little rough, but they usually do a pretty good job 😊 And I will certainly be providing updates this year!! 🌿

I’m happy it was helpful! This is my first experience with them but they made it through the winter quite well and I am looking forward to the bloom this summer ☺️

I think you made the right decision choosing a honeysuckle vine. They grow pretty fast and aren't very fuzzy like a clematis or climbing roses which might require more maintenance. I currently have a Major Wheeler honeysuckle which has been constantly blooming. I liked it so much that also got a Kinzley's Ghost honeysuckle which is more rare but a great looking one as well. Any update videos on your vines?

I will be making a garden tour very soon so you will definitely see an update on that! I may or may not make a separate video on the honeysuckle, but I haven’t quite decided yet. And I would LOVE to get a Kingsley ghost honeysuckle at some point, but I may just need to order it online. Quite frankly I haven’t ever seen that plant in person before!

Are you sure you want lavender nearby? Might be a 'competing fragrance' issue. Look into it.

Hi. Thanks for making this video! I've been looking into using this plant on a trellis for a privacy screen. Unrelated: I had a friend in highschool/college named Joshua Dick. 😊

I’m happy that you can find what you’re looking for! I think this will make a great privacy screen, it just might take a few years for it to fill in enough. And that’s crazy! I’ve never met someone else that had the same last name with me that wasn’t in my family, so that’s super weird that they have the exact same name as me! 🤣 if you still have his contact, tell him I said hi ☺️

There will be at some point soon! We just planted these towards the middle of the summer last year, which means they didn’t have too much of a chance to grow last year. From when we planted them I’d say they gained about another foot of growth. I’ll do a highlight of the plant when it’s in bloom this summer 🌸☺️

Do they make thick shrubs? Great video!
@JoshuasGarden
@JoshuasGarden Год назад
There is actually a shrubs honeysuckle which is different from the vine honeysuckle, so you may want to look for those

how does the fragrance compare to the japanese honeysuckle? (In my area Japanese honeysuckle is not invasive so I could plant both if the perfume is different)
@JoshuasGarden
@JoshuasGarden 2 года назад
To be honest, I haven’t smelled a Japanese honeysuckle before. If you go to a local garden center in late spring/summer hopefully you can find the scentsation honeysuckle and the Japanese one to compare! You should also look up how long the Japanese honeysuckle blooms for because the PW variety may bloom a little longer. I hope this helps! ☺️

My 4x4 post is in the ground. I have a large wooden bird feeder I will be mounting on top. I have ordered this same honeysuckle plant to climb the post (for the same reasons you chose it). It will arrive very soon. It's a hummingbird magnet, so I figured this would be best choice for keeping with the bird theme. I came here to your video looking for help in figuring out how to help the vine climb the post. Sadly, yours wasn't long enough to reach that point yet, so I'm still looking for help. I bought some wire and screw eyes. Is that overkill? Or is that all I really need? Any specific insight on how to best "attach" it to the post would be so appreciated! I'm no vine expert. I have one clematis and one american wisteria (each growing on a trellis) and that's the extent of my vine experience. :-)

I’m so happy you reached out! Mine is finally starting to put out some long stems that are growing up the trellis. I have just been using some jute twine and loosely tying it so it holds up the branches but doesn’t pinch them. Any string should work though!

Does the aroma of honeysuckle keep mosquitoes away?
@JoshuasGarden
@JoshuasGarden Год назад
After seeing your question I tried to do some quick research to find out if that’s true or not. To be honest, I’m not sure. It seems that ‘Amur’ honeysuckles, or an Asia honeysuckles attract mosquitoes, but this is a ‘Lonicera periclymenum’ according to Proven Winners’s site. I don’t think this variety attracts mosquitoes but I’m also not sure if it deters them either
