Glad to find this. I planted this last year and this season is the first I’m seeing the buds to start. Was looking online to see how long from seeing them will they bloom. I’m excited! I have NO flowers in my garden because they always get eaten by groundhogs and rabbits. No one’s touched this yet!

The leaves on mine are curling. I cut it back in the fall, hoping that would help, but it doing it again this year. This is my favorite plant in the yard.
Yeah I just cut any long traveling new vines. To kind of keep my shape of a tree. If you prune after they flower before they start to seed you could prune this plant three times in a year and you’ll get three full loaded blooms in a season! Definitely one of my favorites too
Hello fellow Michigander. I’m south of you in zone 6. When you plant one, what do you suggest as to fertilizing, type of soil to surround the roots in? Should the roots be kept cool with plants at the base? We are on sand so the location is well draining. Thank you in advance for your advice.
Foliage starts usually sometime in March for me I’m in zone 5B I’m not sure where you’re located but I hope by now the plan is full of blooms for you thanks for watching have a great day!
