Hi Jonathan Thinking of getting a seiko as my very first watch. Is the Seiko Prospex good? 43MM It's a pepsi case.. Is that still classed as a SKX? Would love to hear your thoughts..

@@harper07harper the Seiko SKX was introduced before the creation of the Prospex family of professionally-spec'ed tool watches. A great diver, to be sure (I have two of them myself), but not a Prospex piece. Do you happen to know the specific reference number to the piece you're considering?

@@harper07harper that particular piece is one of the solar options. It isn't a 'regular' quartz that will require a battery change every 3 years or so but rather gets charged by exposure to light. Because it's a "set it and forget it" type of creature I think it's a great way to venture into the world of Seiko dive watches. It's an attractive watch if you're into the Pepsi colorway, it's rugged so you can use it confidently without feeling the need to baby it while you're out and about living your life, and being quartz it should definitely keep time accurately. 😊 If you like the looks of it and find it at a price you're agreeable with? I'd say grab it! It is on the larger side of things, however, so if the opportunity exists to try it on before dedicating funds to the purchase I would recommend that as well. No matter how appealing something may be on paper if it doesn't fit well to your particular wrist dimensions it won't matter how pretty it is.

I would say for solar quartz, get Citizen divers. They make some very good professional dive watch like their 1000M and Ecozilla models. Get Seiko for automatic dive watches

I began with a Rolex Sub. Then thr Rolex Daytona. Couldn't find an all stainless anywhere. So I bought the steel and gold Daytona. Then an Omega Speedmaster Professional. Then thr Speedmaster Michael Schumacher Pro. Then, the regular Professional. Then the Rolex GMT II. Then the Omega Planet Ocean. What retirement fund? What the heck, I have a retirement pension plan.

Don’t but Rolex. I know this sounds crazy, but unless you get a Rolex watch before the 70s/Vietnam war it’s worthless. The Rolex’s now have a very bad movement, (sometimes up to gaining 60 seconds today) it’s a brand name like Omega. That’s the entire problem with the watch community. You pay for the brand. It’s crazy. But, buy one from the 70s and you’re golden, it will increase value dramatically.

@@mrbacchus6127 well it's the name of a real place in Belize and if you look at pictures of it I think it's a cool name for a diver watch and it fits the dial of this special edition very well. My 2 cents.

The mm200 is a model I could see owning and wearing. But I am too caught up in this G-SHOCK game.

Lug to lug is 51mm is it not? I usually try to stick to 47mm or a maximum of 49mm if there is some good curvature to the lugs.

That and the Jade are couple of gems

Diashield does nothing for me. Personally don’t think it’s the best stuff out either, Traska used better stuff then it.

If you go sumo you still have more to experience within the Seiko brand when it comes to finishing. On the other wrist, the MM200 is just about as good as Seiko gets. There are a few that could be argued as better which I guess still leaves you a little room before you get to a grand seiko but not as many if youre coming from a sumo. Whatever you do, try any of them on if you can. In your hand, at least until you have some experience under your belt, will tell you most of what you need to know. Buy whatever you buy for yourself. If you see it and cant get it out of your head and then hold it and feel the magic you'll know. Dosent matter if its 100 or 5000 dollars. I've tried on 20000 dollar watch's that sucked and worn out 500 dollar watches becasue they were awesome. Good luck.

Thank you for your reply, I actually have tried both of them on and I do have to say I'm leaning towards the new green sumo as it feels and looks at home on my wrist and MM200 looks a little smaller plus 6r35 movement vs 6r15......so I think I'm getting more in Sumo. I have dreamed about that watch, lol. Once again, really appreciate your opinion.🙏

I would go with the sbdc063 I absolutely love that blue bezel. Also the lug to lug is 50.3 compared to the sumos 52 ish. However its all up to you just my opinion.

Spb051, 43mm of pure joy. Truely seikos best mid tier modern dive watch. If you have small wrists go for the spb143 instead.

There's more to it than that - and pictures/videos don't convey it. The build quality of the MM200 blows the SKX out of the water (I think Rob stated similar this in a previous video, and even shows here that these are more "premium" than an SKX or Turtle). Bracelet is superb (far better than the Sumo), it has better case finishing (really sharp reflections, and the detailing on the watch is just better IMHO. The diashield and whatnot is a bonus to some. (I like it on my SPB077).

@@reshmaj2002 I may look into one. I just remember how unimpressed I was with my Tudor Black Bay 41. After 20+ years of collecting and flipping, I think I may just be getting burnt out as well.
