Have you done a review of this motor mount yet? Love to get some feed back. I'm wanting to replace mine on my 01fxdxt. Looking for more stability and trying an updated mount.
Great video, I've installed on a 2008 streetbob, did you have to do a drivetrain alignment after replacing? I've notable vibration after replacing the front motor mount.
Wise move using the mounts from Drag Spec - they are Urethane and much firmer than the H-D ones which are softer rubber meant for Tourers, but most people with Tourers prefer the Urethane ones as they 'firm-up' the handling. Also, a little tip here, get some Brass nuts for the exhaust flange studs - they seem to stay tight more and as they are Brass they cannot corrodes and seize on the studs. Anyone who has had a nut seize on the stud will tell you it's a nightmare because if you break a stud then the cylinder head has to come off to get the broken stud machined out by engineers.... I speak from experience unfortunately !
So, has the new motor mount improved the ride? Any significant differences from stock? Or is this one of those parts "It's for sale and its expensive so it must be good"?
Definitely more rigid feel especially if you run a blow out stock motor mount. Also doubles as a landing pad if u wheelie. I’d say if u actually change out your stock motor mount with a fresh one u don’t need this
I just had a thought.... when you do fit the Chopper Hauss rear mount, if you are using the later MkII model, a big advantage over the MkI or the BigBear one that I have is that as the later Chopper Hauss one has flat sides and may allow you to fit a TrueTrak as well.... if needed....
Thakery good info hopefully after the upgraded mount u would not need a stabilizer though spending over 1000 for all the mounts and stabilizers would be crazy haha
@@dynademos I am sure you will not need the stabiliser with the Chopper Hauss rear mount. I told you it'd be a good idea to use those Drag Spec mounts as they stopped my motor jumping up and down so much (remember ?) - well I found out why my motor was jumping up and down at the front. The rear damper units were worn out and that allowed the whole drive train to pivot around the rear engine mount - like a seesaw or teeter-totter I think you call them. As you are using the D.S. front 'rubbers', it may allow your rear suspension to perform a little better.... it all adds up to help improve handling and stopping the dreaded 'Dyna Wobble" - it is heart-stopping when it happens !
Hey brotha, I just did the BBC version of this motor mount, did the front and rear and now by 2017 FXDLS vibrates like crazy. It’s ridiculous, did you have the same issue? I’m not sure if it was installed incorrectly. Any help is much appreciated
I haven’t done the rear do u know what isolators u went with there are a few different ones if I’m not mistaken polyurethane, rubber, and metal it’ll make a difference what isolator u have
Hey mate, i just bought the big bear alloy version and when u put the 2 side mounts together (back to back) the bolt holes are not the same. Judging by this video the chopper haus is the same as 1 another. So my question is do u know if the brackets on the frame are in the same spot on the frame or is 1 bracket about 5mm further foward and about 2.5mm lower than the other side?
Hey man! I just ordered one of these and im still waiting on it but I was curious as to how the quality seems? As well as does it seem to make the front of the engine closer to the frame?
GameJit I think it actually life the motor up so slightly more away from the frame could be wrong. The quality is 100 I’m diggin it next I need suspension
The manufacturer of these mounts says to tighten the side flanges to spec, leave the engine bolts loose, run the engine so it self centers, shut it down, then torque those two engine bolts into the crossbar
Been a long time since I made this but if that’s what they say follow their instruction I haven’t had any issues. Also the cross bar the engine mounts to were just holes from what I remember that the bolts fit into perfectly so in reality I don’t think tq it down would honesty do anything as I think it would fall into the same place 🤷🏽♂️
@@dynademos Thanks for the input. I have the opportunity to pick up this front mount and a CCE rear mount for a reasonable price but reluctant to pull the trigger as I love my forward controls. Thanks again and the vids are top notch. Just used your handle bar swap one last weekend. Job went great thanks to you guys.
Jase Langley 🤜🏽🤛🏽 hell ya man glad you like them hope they have saved you some mula and helped out a little. Where you at in Florida? This is Rod i go down to south Florida once in a while for work.
