GIZMOS NEEDS AN EXPANSION!!!! Well, not 'needs' but more I WANTS IT!!!! I love you guys just talking about a pile a games. I'm glad I wasn't the only one that didn't like Imhotep. I first played it at Origins that year and immediately bought it because I liked it at first play, but then I was 'nah...too mean'. I would gladly play it with someone who wanted to though. MORE YI BIG PILES OF GAMES PLEASE!!!

First thought when Chris said that was "Hmm, nice try...". My second thought was "how many children do they own...?"

Imhotep was one of the first few games in my collection, and I still love it. Yes, it has potential to be a take-that fest, but if you live by that sword, you usually die by that sword. It's really about maximizing your own value and occasionally blocking your opponent. I also played it before I knew who PWH was. Silver & Gold is probably may favorite of his, since it's such an easy game to pick up and play. Summer Camp was also a nice, family-weight set collector.

I've played Sushi Go, Barenpark and Imohtep. I liked them all, but Imhotep was my favourite my a huge margin. The spacial elements are clever but can be a little tricky to predict. But the rules are simple, and the interaction is great. Knizia-esq.

My wife and I play Imhotep as a two player game regularly and really enjoy it. You just have to take it as part of your strategy that someone else might park the boat somewhere you might not prefer. Frustrating sometimes, but I wouldn't call it mean. Glad you did a PWH list.

Buy the expansion. It has elements to destroy the frustration. It has promises to the gods. It prevents players from being mean towards each other.

Planted: A Game of Nature & Nurture has quickly become a beloved addition to my family's collection of games. Its quick playtime and straightforward rules make it accessible to players of all ages. The theme of nature and nurture resonates with us, adding a delightful and meaningful touch to our gaming experiences. We genuinely enjoy every moment spent playing this wonderful game.

I agree! It is a great game. I think it suffers from being a little mean, and not a tone of decisions to make.

Imhotep is a great game, family favorite, and one that people at work have demanded after playing it together. I've bought 5 copies of it... one for me, four for others.

Imhotep gets way too much hate! Probably is PWH best design. So timeless. It suffers from needing repeated plays to understand what it’s trying to do. Your first couple of plays you can’t make sense of the chaos. Once you embrace the darkness, and accept the capriciousness of fate, the game reveals itself to you. People say it’s “take that” but it really isn’t. Your plan not coming together is usually because you were super obviously going for one high scoring play, with no contingency plan, and of course someone sails your boat elsewhere instead. That’s not take that, that’s we aren’t going to play kingmaker and let you get away with that cheese. This is a game of plan b’s, c’s, and d’s.
@jimgrant9081
@jimgrant9081 Год назад
You had me at Part One! I hope you revisit Imhotep with 3-4 players. It is definitely interactive and a game of chicken as Wendy stated, but there is a lot there including hedging where you place your stones so they can work out decently for you regardless of where the barge lands. I'm a PWH fan myself and loving the topic of this video.

My favourite designer. I love the tile laying games that you featured here, but Llamaland is definitely my favourite, it’s like if Barenpark and Gingerbread House had a baby. Still love the other two and regularly play them, but Llamaland is the best with gamers I find. Looking forward to it in the next segment.

Any card that isn’t standard size (which Sushi Go is not standard) only has clear sleeves. You would really want opaque ones to hide it.

My first PWH game was Sushi Go Party. My wife and I loved it. Then I bought Gizmos because it looked like a neat game. I didn't realize who designed it until after I played it several times. Then I bought Silver and Gold. Now I'm a fan boy. I enjoy his simplicity in his designs. He makes fun games that are simple to understand and play.

Imhotep builder of Egypt is good with the expansion. With base game only, a player can memorize strategies and be mean with other players. With the expansion the promise to the gods makes players to think in something else that is not being mean. Players can still be mean, but the promise could give extra points that being mean cannot. And the expansion adds many sites so the strategy is impossible to memorize. I like this game and I have it among the best games ever. Revisit with the expansion.

I have a copy of Archaeology: The Card Game from Z-Man Games. It has a cover close to the one you have from Adventureland Games. I like it, but my wife didn't for some reason even though she loves other similar set collection card games. I forgot I had it. Maybe our kids will like it. It does have the pyramid chambers and map cards.

My Sushi Go promos are cut very differently depending on the promo set. I'm not worried about it from a strategy perspective, but as someone who doesn't usually sleeve cards, they are a beast to shuffle.

@@cursivecurses I think I had the 2nd. It was purple plastic. My problem with it is was the noise. Dropping the marbles in was an instant headache for me. Edit: I even covered the surfaced with sticky felt and it was still too loud.
