@@nunyabizness3882 it's not because he KOed him, it's because leben wouldnt shut up about it and would bring it into every conversation with the guys
Watching this when i was young i thought Leben can give it but csnt take it. Watching this in my 40s after a divorce and therapy...it hits different. When he told Nate thank you for caring about me....that hit my soul.
obviously it wasnt what he needed because his life was a complete mess still. Drug addict and alcoholic well after the show and after he didnt have his boyfriend anymore
@@mikec5400 mental health can be a bitch. Did you expect him to completely turn his life around after that conversation with Nate? He seems to be doing well now. Probably a lot better off than the guy no one will ever know talking shit about him in a comment section.
hes my all time favorite. watching this back in the day was a lightbulb moment for me. id never seen anyone like me who had gone through basically the same thing i did growing up. i felt a connection to him that i wouldnt have if i hadnt seen this show. i realised fighting wasnt for me and that i needed to fix myself and focus on my mental health. i wish he woke up to himself. he should have been a hall of famer imo. his KO of the axe murderer in 30 seconds has to go down as one of the greatest KOs in history.
Nate is the ultimate real one. We all deserve a friend like Nate. Larone you should do a video on Nate Quarry's full Journey. I swear there was footage in this i hadn't seen before of Leben and i've seen season one multiple times. You're a real one to for this Larone. Keep up the work brother.
Chris leben is a legend. Koscheck may have won the battle but chris won the war. Went on to the ufc and became a legend and fan favorite. A true warrior. And koscheck went on to be known as a snake and coward who fakes illegal knees and trys to get free wins by faking fouls
I went to high school with Chris and on the same wrestling team and while he’s a little wild on the show he was always a really good dude. Used to have his hair grown out into a giant fro and would play a harmonica and sing in the dressing room, kind of a goofball for someone who was so damn tough. Glad to see he seems to be doing good these days.
@DarthDingleberry I know he had a few dust ups, the only one I remember (long time ago now!) was a kid that decided to mess with him and Chris finally pushed him and squared up but the other kid wanted nothing to do with it all of the sudden. Honestly fights didn’t happen much there, it wasn’t a neighborhood school and you had to apply to get in, find your own way there because they didn’t have buses and it was a trade school so it was kind of a unique environment and most people got along. He says in the video he went to school with gangsters but we didn’t really. Portland was pretty mellow back then, nothing like it is today. He didn’t play any other sports that I recall. He was in my German class and the teacher called him Chris Life (Leben in German is life). Funny how you remember dumb stuff like that.
@DarthDingleberry That’s awesome! I do remember that fight, that’s rough to go out and fight like that but a warrior for doing so. Lots of good influences in the combat sports world and like you said, many people would be in jail or dead if not for some of those relationships they built through it. Even just as a wrestling team we were brothers and had each others back, later when I boxed it was the same thing. Leben had some amazing fights and that Martin KO was unbelievable he looked half out of it. His Akiyama fight was good too. Those days of UFC were really fun, glad you were able to be a part of it! Any idea what Kalib is up to these days?
I think Dana mentions somewhere that this show pretty much saved the UFC, apparently they weren’t doing great financially at the time. Not sure how true that is but yeah this show was great.
I hated him because on the game he would wrestle the hell out of you took me a few days to finally beat him. Literally was the most annoying cpu on UFC 2009
Kotex boy was a bit(h boy. He should have been a soccer player. His acting hurt is on par with those babies. The only good thing about Kotex is watching him get knocked out.
@Brandon Brouillette couldn't stand Josh he was hard to watch very annoying and fighting style was really boring. Chris was entertaining and way more enjoyable to watch
Nate quarry I hope you somehow see this, you’re the man. So much respect for you as a person dude. I don’t know how you lived with those clowns and didn’t put hands on them. Unreal. Mad props 💪🏼💪🏼
Chris was a beast and one of my favorites..plus I made a $100 off him fighting with the axe murder..I knew he had the chin and left hand to walk thru that fight
Despite their overall immaturity, I am actually quite impressed at how well some of these guys communicate themselves. Chris especially showed some real vulnerability by saying he was hurt by what Bobby said
Know what I noticed this whole era were better spoken than ours even Bobby and griffin Diego they all articulate and express them selves better than this new ignorant gen
We all knew koscheck was a pos, but gootdaaaamn bobby southworth, 34 year old man during the filming of this. Talking about your brain never developping from the teenage stage
I've seen a short documentary on current southworth he really has grown works for the UFC PI and I never knew he was a strikeforce champion underrated fighter but yeah he was quite a dick back in the day
how can you come away with that take yet no mention of leben...when he is the one who started everything in the house to begin with and the second its flipped on him he starts boo hooing about his shitty life...dude was mentally weak and pathetic
@@mikec5400 chris turned his life around, thats all i need to know to respect him, but yeah he kinda brought it on himself on tuf so yeah, take a chiel pill mayn
@@KyleDad the strikeforce champion thing needs a LOOOOT of context. Strikeforce had just setup for MMA that year, with a non-existent LHW pool. It was for an inaugural vacant title - Bobby had just come off a NC and a loss and faced off vs an old Vernon White at the end of his career with a 24-29 record, also coming off a loss himself. Basically two bums coming off losses that fought each other for a happy meal. Bobby had one decentish win, vs Ruiz, who he also lost to. Everyone else he beat were no-names.
The first season was Soo entertaining. Really was great television. And then there's the cast. Crazy how it worked out. Not sure we've ever had a more stacked house of characters and eventual vets
Stacked like my ex girlfriends chest but yes sir… I’m a lonely man now! Sas😢its okay I got internet lol jk i😅oh boy… somebody got a sister? I don’t care if she’s a little chubby.. hell, I got a chubby for a chubby and a stick for a stick… girl that is. I’m here all weekend! You’ve all been a great crowd! (Jimmy!! Timmy!!) (Southpark) (in those style voices) I say these lines all while doing lines… of ice and coke off your _____’s _____!! Know what I’m saying big dogs?! 😊😅 I’ll see myself out! …. Of your baby mamas snatch! Ayyyyyy yoooooo!!!
@@CaspanovaSad excuse for a dude. How much of your whining in your comment was even real I wonder that you never had a girlfriend in your life and probably wouldn't take a stab at anyone's sister unless they were post-op.
@@mikereynolds3154 fun to watch? He literally had one okay fight in the ufc...then he played paddy cake with Caleb Starns and got flatlined by rich franklin
@@mikec5400 if u didn’t like him or watching him fight, no worries. had no idea me liking a certain person fighting and comment would get me ridiculed for.
Damn Kenny Florian and Chris Leben respected the hell outta each other. You dont see moments and relationships like this in other sports. And there are so many in MMA. Great vid Larone
I remember watching this show after WWE Raw, I never would imagine that years later on Halloween 2020, Leben himself hosted BKFC tryouts in Phoenix AZ, he held the pads for me as I asked him, and I got to share my story with him, definitely a highlight of my life
You could see Leben's potential even though the fights that season didn't go his way. Josh just laid on him for two rounds and he was easily beating Kenny but then had some bad luck with that nasty cut. You could see he would still make some waves in the UFC and he definitely did. Great to see today how respected Chris is while how despised Koscheck is.
nate quarry is a phuckin’ solid dude and one Hell of a loyal friend. he’s someone l’d definitely want in my corner, cause l’d know without a doubt he’d have my back.
Bro how the hell did you get 2 hours of Chris leben content??? he is one of my all time fave fignters. One of my friends trains under him in SD. Hes the best.
@@robertdemon3550 it’s deeper but still raspy. If you heard him with your eyes closed, you’d know it’s him. He’s actually been doing the reffing thing for some organizations lately too
When I originally watched this season I started off not liking Chris, but at the end he was the one everyone wanted. Josh turned into the actual UFC fighter that no one likes. He got what he had coming though
"so im sleeping in my bed and im having this dream god is like yelling at me but it turns out its not really god at all its chris leben and he's busting through my door" 😂😂
1:16:52, his face and reaction to being told he’s fighting Leben, then his face when he is standing across the cage from him tells us the real story, he is fucking terrified.! To quite Mike Tyson “if your saying your not afraid before a fight your lying”
oh god how awful he had clean water sprayed on him with a hose! thats so sad...not like chris pissed on some dudes bed or anything..i love watching Anderson beat the piss out of this guy
@@mikec5400 after being heated up from a previous comment and trying to sleep it off. Him pissing on the bed is something that should be handled yeah, that being said those that hosed him weren't involved in that situation. Chris tried to distance himself from it and they kept egging him on and honestly deserved to get punched for it
Man Chris losing to Koscheck had to have hurt bad. It’s been a while since I’ve seen this but all the build up to it and to get wrestle fucked for 2 rounds and losing, oooof. That had to have stung bad
And he was expecting a third round at least, that’s why he didn’t go for broke at the end of the second. Yeah, must have sucked. But that’s a pretty glaring problem for Chris to not be able to stand back up against a guy he’s got that much size on.
Just compare the retirements of Leban and Kosheck from combat sports: Leban left the ring on a win, in a retirement fight while being drown in praise. Kosheck lost 4 in a row and was released by bellator without anything more than a small press release, his retirement announcement didnt get much more media attention either, besides people being happy he was gone.
This was a good video and showed a lot more of what was not televised or maybe I fell asleep during these parts lol but I always thought Chris was just a punk the whole time but I was wrong. Hope he’s doing better today mentally and spiritually. ✌️
Awesome to see this video. Thank you for posting. I watched this Ultimate Fighter episode when it was first aired. Amazing how young these guys were, afterall it is a long time ago. Never cared much for Josh Kosheck, but if all he wanted was a sure win he fought a smart fight.
For all the ones that are newer to the UFC (by newer I mean people who wasn't around at least lomg enough to have watched this happen in real time or b4. I honestly have watched every UFC since UFC 1 and i have the VHS to DVD's then digital to prove it. I was told about the UFC b4 UFC 1 was even thought about being on TV. My bestie's father was a very well known fighter that had dealings with the Gracies lomg b4 UFC was a legit thing. He couldnt stand them for many reasons that I will soare y'all from due to this already being a novel.) But the amount of killers on this show that ended up making it in the UFC when only 2 where supposed to make it is unbelievable. Ya have Bonner, Griffin, Leban, Kos, Nate quarry, Mike Swick, Kenny Florian and I may be even missing 1 or 2 just typing this off of the top of my head without going back. What an epic show this was for the brand and UFC as a whole. What a treat rewatching this now knowing what I do now. Epic to say the least. All when it was a do or die for the UFC as a whole. Enjoy MFer's. This is fighting history at its finest.
