He said that the lines took care of themselves, but truly only he could be Dr. Spaceman. The lines wouldn't have had the same effect without Chris Parnell.
The build up of the Space-Man - Spaceman joke, the pay-off, only for him to be played brilliantly by Chris Parnell made me so excited, it was the moment I fell deeply in love with the show.

I wish they'd do a Dr. Spacemen spinoff show or movie. He was so funny. One of my favorites is when the Jenna Maroney character visits him to lose weight and he gives hear a medical pamphlet titled "You do the Meth" and asks her exactly how attached she is to her teeth.

Like this. His practise needs to find new premises in a hurry and leave the state for some unknown reason. You never find out why. But he has to move to the outback desert and set up as a veterinarian. Writes itself from there really.
