Today I sit down with legendary drummer Chris Slade.
Chris started out his professional career at 16 years old playing drums for Tom Jones. From there he became a founding member of Manfred Mann's Earth Band recording 8 studio albums from 1972 to 1978.
After a 1 year tour with the great David Gilmour another legend Jimmy Page called him to join the super group The Firm.
Most people really know Chris from his time in AC/DC recording and touring on the smash hit record The Razors Edge.
That record was loaded with hits including Thunderstuck, Moneytalks and Are You Ready.
After the return of Phil Rudd, Chris moved on and played in his own group until 2015 when he was asked to return to AC/DC after Phil Rudd had legal problems.
Check out Chris Slade Timeline on all streaming platforms.
Hope you guys enjoy this episode and if you are a big AC/DC fan check out my interviews with all of AC/DC right here on my RU-vid channel.

Chris Slade was fantastic with acdc during the first razors edge period. Live at donnigton is one of the best filmed live rock concerts ever, and Chris was like a machine on that.

Thanks Dean. You did it again brother 😀 Congratulations man I was lucky enough to meet Chris once Very sweet genuine guy to say the least. I've seen at least 600 shows in my life By all kinds of people and genres of music. I was lucky enough to see The Firm on both tours. Honestly the two shows that I saw with The Firm Were the two best concerts I've ever seen By any band 😀 Thank you Chris. If you read this as well You are the man!!

I'm a huge ACDC fan and your interviews with the guys are the best, not the usual questions, the questions we want to hear, I thankyou for those. Would love to know who the drummers were who wanted the job. Chris Slade is a rock gentleman. LTBR would be the hardest song to drum but Phil is a machine and makes it look easy.

What a fantastic interview truly brilliant from you and Chris giving us his story of AC/DC. I really enjoy your podcasts. Still say the Paul Stanley one is my favorite being a Kiss fan but I enjoy neon most of your interviews. You know your stuff and it shows in your delivery.

Great podcast Dean, Slade is a beast on the drums and has left his mark on ACDC. I feel sad for him though, it seems like the negative nellys have had an effect on his enjoyment for ACDC the same as Brian is always compared to Bon but most everyone apart from vocal internet trolls knows how good he is. It’s fine to have a preference but doesn’t mean you have to shit on other people.

To add, I went to see the boys in Wembley last week and I’ll be heading to Paris to see them again and the whole rhythm section is doing a phenomenal job, is it Phill, Mal and Cliff? No but it doesn’t mean we can’t appreciate the job they’re doing.

What I would give to see video of those try outs with ACDC. What a mensch. He comes across as your college liberal arts professor.

Chris is one of the greatest. And every AC/DC member is family. All of them. No one is more important than the other. They are all gifted people playing in the best band ever

AC/DC have rarely made a wrong move, being an Aussie in my late 50's I've seen them right from the very start, I like the Bon and Brian era's equally, I thought getting Axl was a bad move and then I heard him, another great decision, I'm all in for Phil Rudd everytime but you have to make changes, Chris Slade is amazing also, I'm not convinced with this current version out on tour though, possibly 1 tour too much but Covid delayed it, if the fans want it and the band wants it then why the F not, Rock out til you drop, as they say For those about to Rock(fire) We salute You.

As much as i idolize bon scott and i believe he wrote most of the lyrics on back in black, i still say that no one even bon could have sounded better on that album than brian did. Back in black album can't be improved in my opinion.

I think Chris is gone a bit doddery in the head, hard to make sense of some of his answers. When Asked about phil rudd he was like he was answering a different question. Ive heard he had a stroke lately and i think hes showing some symptoms of that in these recent interviews.

I don't believe that Angus young wasn't on some kind of drugs while on stage, he looks completely out of it at times on the live at donnigton concert. Im thinking cocaine or speed.

@@deandelrayso we're told but I don't believe it look at his eyes back in some of the early performance especially donnigton, all the best great podcast.
