To answer your question, I am a huge 90s rap and Alternative fan that stumbled onto Chris Stapleton with JT on the CMAs doing Tennessee Whiskey several years ago. Since then, I have seen him twice in Atlanta and loved them both. I don’t like much country music, but Chris, Sturgil Simpson and Tyler Childers are all A+ in their own unique way.
Chris Stapleton is the kind of talent that makes me want to stop people on the street and ask if they've heard him. And the fact that he can sound so darned good just standing in front of a microphone with an old acoustic guitar - no backup singer, band or auto tune to mask any deficiencies. Nothing to hide behind.
I love what you guys are doing...I found myself there 6 months ago when I stumbled onto one of his songs. By the time I was done, I had spent hours searching for and listening to just about everything I could, just astounded @ his talent. I have spent my time since every few days seeking reactions to his songs and watching others feel for the first time what I felt when I first heard him. This guy can write AND perform just about any genre of music you could think of. Country, Bluegrass, R&B, Rock, Top 40 Pop. Full band or just him and a beat up acoustic guitar. He is a transcendent talent and his love for what he does shines above all when you watch his live performances. If you get a chance, check out his live tribute to Prince (Nothing Compares 2 U). And a second one, which is of a much younger (shorter hair and beard) Chris Stapleton on a songwriter cruise having a live jam session where he sings "Fool Me Again", an old school blues song where you honestly think the cat is channeling Ray Charles or BB King. Both are worth it for sure. Thanks again for what you do. I have thoroughly enjoyed your stroll through this guy's song library and I really appreciate how you guys do what you do.

Chris has been a writer for years. He's wrote hits for everyone like, Luke Bryan, Adele, Taylor Swift, Joss Stone, Thomas Rhett, Bkake Shelton, & the list goes on & on. He did his own album in around 2013 & skyrocketed from there.
And I gotta also add that Shinedown's ENTIRE latest album, "ATTENTION ATTENTION," is fire. Best songs being "Monsters" (AMAZING video), "Black Soul," "Brilliant," and "Special." But really? Every single one of those songs hits and you guys should listen to all of them. Enjoy.

Have you reacted to I Was Wrong at Austin City Limits? I first understood Chris as a great song writer, then singer. But that performance of I Was Wrong made me appreciate more, his guitar playing. He ended the song with guitar solo that I really liked.

Have you checked out Chris Stapleton when he was with the Steeldrivers from 2008 to 2010. The Steeldrivers are amazing. Bluesy bluegrass is what I would call them if you aren't familiar. Try their opry live debut on 05/08/2008 I believe. Chris sings Drinkin Dark Whisky and Midnight Train to Memphis.

I like it all, but Chris is one of my favorites. If you like him, I believe you guys will like Marc Broussard or Look up Tab Benoit both very good and both have a blues vibe. I listen to everything from Tupac to Willie Nelson and everything in between.
