I interpreted it as if he's not gonna love the girl in a sloppy way, she either has to go or has to stay because he won't love her in any sloppy way , he either loves her right when she stays or doesn't love her at all when she leaves but he's not gonna love her "either way"
@@luisinacasirola this is a super interesting point of view I’ve never thought of. I personally think the song is a beautiful story about the opposite of love not being hate, but indifference
The song was originally recorded by Lee Ann Womack for her 2008 Call Me Crazy record. Stapleton explained why he redid the tune nine years later for his From a Room: Volume 1 album: "My wife always loved that song, which should worry me, but she just loves really slow sad songs and she always wanted me to play that song So, I felt led to do it and if I'm gonna sing something, I'm gonna sing it with every ounce of belief and try to put every bit of believability in a lyric that I can."
Well if he doesn’t spend time with you or treat you with respect then it tends to end that way...been there, learned that, and moved on... hope all is well
The first time I heard this song, I did cry,,like a baby..Chris Stapleton reaches in and snatches your soul..his power and emotion in his voice are out of this world,,
It is sad that so many people find themselves in loveless relationships .. just going through the motions , without the love they once had , this song is a perfect expression of that .. good job men .. thanks
This song is so hard because it fits so many marriages. People stay together even if they don't love each other and it's really quite sad. I love this song its so real and down to the bone.
In yet another testament to Chris' otherworldly talent, he was doing the guitar string "finger slide squeak" *on purpose* to add resonance to the notes. 🤯🤯🤯
One song that touches my heart is this one. His songs are so amazing. He is one artist that can make me tear up on multiple songs. Geez he is so talented. He sings from the soul. He writes his own songs. He is an original by far. You can’t compare Chris to anyone.
OMG just hearing this song for the first time and describes my first marriage to a tee. I went to bed after covering my husband on the couch and prayed for a way out and next morning found him dead. Not what I had in mind but at least I was out of a very bad relationship
As a fella Eastern Kentuckian as he and Morgane and Tyler Childers....I just have to say, look how intimate he is with his guitar. Just he and his baby in his hands. He has a full on relationship with not only his voice but his guitar. I grew up knowing Chris before he was Chris. He comes back home and gives free concerts yearly. The best man ever. Period. Any music. Any genre.
Poet,Storyteller,This is a Deep Thinker,Have in understanding in the way we think,Because he watch and pay attention, time stand still for him,and he sings. And described what most of us are going thru.A Master at his best!!!
Loved the way Stan was taking the song, then - bam - 180 out. Because this song is not what you expect it to be. The long suffering broken hearted lover was in the previous verses of the song that we never get to hear. He's given all he had to give. It's over. And only Chris can tell it.
I interpreted this as their love is what it is. Theyre just going through day after day. He doesn't love her in the way he/she wants or deserves and together or apart, he doesn't love her either way. Thanks guys!
I 'discovered' Chris when he performed with JT at the CMAs, as well, and was equally blown away. I spent the next couple hours scouring YT for everything he'd ever done. The first time I heard Either Way, I sobbed. Same with Barely Alive. He has the ability to reach into your soul and make you feel everything he's singing, both through his lyrics and his vocal abilities, even if you've never experienced it personally. He's incredibly special and 100% legendary.
This ain’t Morgane’s you are my sunshine (lol) but I’m here for it. How many artist do you know that sound better live. And do sooo many songs live compared to music videos nowadays. This man ❤️
I'm so glad you heard us. Love this and ALL of his songs. People get emotional because they can relate to what he says. I believe a lot of country songs are life experiences.
The song is about any failed relationship. Most people try too long to save something that is no longer there. They are only together still merely out of convenience or fear of Not having someone. I had this. Wish I hadn't waisted so much time before realizing what it was.
Besides being an amazingly talented singer, musician he brings the emotion that hits right in the soul. As they say this man isn't singing, he's sanging. Chris makes me feel, and I love it.
Hi'yall I'm new to your channel. Nice to meet the both of you❤️. It Is a fact this mans vocals are phenomenal, that's one unequivocal truth. There's not a soul on Earth that would probably dispute that. I myself love how humble he is. But there is one other thing a lot of people might not realize. He is also ambidextrous, I only noticed it because I too am ambidextrous. Oftentimes you'll notice he's strumming his guitar via the opposite hand. It just adds to his technical ability. Anyway just wanted to introduce myself And give props to the both of you. I find you both refreshing! Lisa
Thank you so much for introducing me to Chris Stapleton guys😁👌Gotta admit that I was just lurking around your channel exploring Chris' playlist and enjoying the dynamic between you two but when we both went to Google for the lyrics at the exact same moment I knew I had to subscribe LOL ✌😜Appreciate all the awesome content!
The brilliance of Chris...On his CD the song following this one is called I Was Wrong. Going from the lack of love feel of this song to the apologetic/shameless begging feel of that one is pretty much the climax of the story told if you listen to the CD from beginning to end in order.
Good idea about hiring Chris to get their girls back. Every male reaction I have watched listening to this had tears in their eyes. This brings times, I think, men want to do what is right even through their is nothing left in the relationship. Not saying we women don't feel that way, too. But, I just believe a lot of men stay even when the love is gone, because they feel it's what they have to do.
It sounds like both are done if you see to this part of the lyrics. Guess it mirrors the kind of relationship that is done but no one takes the step to break up. No love, no interaction, Time just passes with no joy for anyone of them. "We pass in the hall on our way to separate rooms The only time we'll ever talk is when the monthly bills are due We go to work, we go to church We fake the perfect life "
Never listened to Chris Stapleton until I watched this, and I've instantly become a fan. So moving! If you guys need some good requests, I recommend Starset- "Ricochet" or "My Demons", Otep- "Confrontation" or "Equal Rights Equal Lefts", Ill Nino- "I'm Not The Enemy", and if you want another good tear-jerker by Five Finger Death Punch, "Coming Down." Love you guys, I just became a subscriber today and I'm already digging your videos! Keep up the good work you guys!
I hear a man that has resigned himself to a loveless relationship. We live together, we go through the motions. But this has gone on so long I have cried all my tears and now it simply is what it is. Leave or stay, I won't love you either way. How sad that some people would reduce themselves willingly to such a life.
Anita his live versions are the best reactions....he sings just as great live than as he does on his albums. Its seems he adds a little more to his live versions.
There are also a half-dozen acoustic videos of songs Chris wrote as No. 1s for other artists. Great songs, great Chris and he does not play them currently. "Comeback Song", "Never Wanted Nothing More," "Love's Gonna Make It Alright."
