You know what I loved so much about it? Me and you both know he could've taken it to a whole other level! He could have come through louder and stronger than most in all the typical places in that song but he didn't. He didn't take away from the song by going too much with it , but he sure didn't slack off either. It was just perfect. It doesn't matter what he's singing it stabs me right in the soul lol

This is my favorite Star Spangled banner performance ever.

It's public knowledge though Whitney's iconic performance was sung over a recording meaning it was not live. Ricky Minor who was the musical director and arranger of Whitney's version confirmed this. Chris Stapleton's version is great but how do you beat a version recorded in the studio with the luxury of multiple takes and studio editing and production especially sung by someone like Whitney?

Chris Stapleton and Jonathan Antoine sing completely different types of music, but they both could sing the phone book and it would sound great. Now I hope you want to look up who Jonathan Antonie is and listen to him. He was just a kid who blew Britian's got Talent away. A teen who is overweight, just like myself and his story they play reminds me of my son, who walks onto the stage scared to death, wearing a faded Jimi Hendrix T-shirt and sounds like a Angel. He showed Simon and the World to not judge a book by its cover and i just fell for him and his story. I don't listen to the type of music he sings in my daily life, but he just touches my heart!! Check him out if you have never seen him. The title is Jonathan and Charlotte on Britian's got Talent. Do yourself a favor and let your ears get blessed listening to this young man.

Love Chris Stapleton! He's only made one music video, and was very particular about how it was done. If you get a chance to check it out, it's 'Fire Away'. He chose the actors and the 'cause' he wanted to support. It's incredibly moving.

I'm not going to rank one against the other but will say Whitney has the best female vocals while Stapleton has the best male vocals for our anthem. A person can't pit one against the other because they are so different like bottomless realms from the same heart but different corners.
