Christian Bale honors Wes Studi at the Governors Awards on Sunday, October 27, 2019, in Hollywood. #HonoraryOscars #ChristianBale #WesStudi #GovernorsAwards
He is more authentic in playing a role like Magua..because he is from a tribe that originated from the east ( Cherokee ) ..though Magua is a character from the Huron ..like Mohawk and Shawnee..he's like the Cherokee and Muskogee in many ways..in my opinion Magua was special in a closer way for Wes
In HOSTILES, Bale did some of the best acting of his career. Just drew us in and set us breathing his breaths, living his sadness and tragedy. It was a breathtaking experience.
I'm from Colombia also I'm an American because this continent goes from Alaska to la Patagonia in Argentina so we need to give more respect to the indigenous tribes from the 3 americas .Congrats to Mr Wes studi... Greetings from Colombia 🇨🇴 South America.
Hostiles is such a awesome movie. There wont be anything like that for a long time or ever, especially with actors like Bale and Studi. Well deserved award.
He did not play ‘Wind in his Hair’ in ‘Dances With Wolves’, as that was played by actor Rodney A. Grant (who is fantastic). Mr. Wes Studi played the toughest (meanest, scary’) Pawnee, who murdered ‘Stands With A Fist’s parents while her brother told her “Run, Christine, run‼️). Then in he savagely caved in the skull of ‘Stone Calf’ (Jimmy Herman) with his club during the big Pawnee raid. He was then surrounded and shot multiple times while giving a blood curdling war whoop.
Christian is so good in westerns. Need to do more. Wes has always been a great and have seen his movies. He is a true actor, a true human being and a great Native American.
Buffy Sainte marie was the first muscian to win back in the 80’s ...Wes Studi is the first actor. So amazing to see our native people rising up and being recognized for their contributions in pop culture 🙌🏽❤️
I like how Wes Studi can play his roles like Magua in Last of the Mohicans, the Pawnee in Dances With Wolves, and his role in Hostiles (and more). But then can also sell his role as a tough cop like in Heat. He's really talented and I like his work a lot.
Wow! I am totally blown away! Wes Studi. Thank you. You make us feel so proud to be Indigenous. See, we have amazing gifts to offer. We have courage, power, wisdom, talent and beautiful spirit to share. We are able to make a positive difference in this world. See what this everyone has been missing out on, by pushing us aside as being unworthy. of consideration. We are worthy and we have so much of our amazing selves to share. Thank you Wes, for showing the world this and opening their eyes to the wonderful possibilities of what the first people of this land will be contributing. You are #1!
Wes is great in Last of the Mohicans...he is just terrifying. Conversely, he is absolutely hilarious (playing against type) in Mystery Men as a hero with the power of being terribly mysterious (as well as speaking in platitudes).
Congrats to Wes! We need more films about Natives and their history. We live in a Euro-centric society and Natives voices have been drowned out for too long.
Long overdue perhaps I think! For Wes Studi! And there are other native American actors that should’ve been or should be awarded awards also!!! Thank you very much!!!!
Not enough Native American actors are hired in racially and/or gender neutral roles, whether in movies or tv shows. Surely the talent's there, but not enough doors are being opened...
It would be nice to see many cultures in roles that having nothing to do with their culture. Movies make it seem there aren’t Native Americans who don’t live on a reservation and are accountants or insurance adjusters or plumbers...lol
You are a racist. Acting is a skill, and is for those who can act. An actor’s ethnicity has nothing to do with his ability to act. Also, you are an idiot, as well.
He played in heat and was a cop. He also played with a burt. Reynolds. As a cop. Its a shame that we can't get other roles than just as a native. , Wes is a legend. He has been around as long as I can remember.
will never happen. they were rivals in the 90's constantly battling for roles. i mean maybe now that they are older ...that would be a mind fuck of a moment. cuz bale is a powerhouse and dicaprio has one of the best bodies of work
Well deserved Wes and beautiful presentation Christian and hope this brings attention to the struggles of Native Americans and brings more awareness and opportunity!!
Great speech by one of UK's finest actor CB and love the excellent talented and seems to me great guy Wes Studi - hope some one does a film about his early life from time in Vietnam to getting into film roles.
Wes is so great, not only as an actor but as a great, funny guy. I love every interview he gives, and I still treasure his shot at a comedy role in Mystery Men 😁
I own the movie "Hostiles" and it's great! Congrats to Wes Studi for his Oscar win and everything that came with it! He's a gifted actor and an inspiration to all of us for his attention to Native American languages and more importantly speaks on behalf of his fellow Native Americans. In this crazy country, we tend to forget about all of the ethnic groups, myself included. Love and support our fellow Americans and the world. ❤🙋🙏✌👆🖖👍🇺🇸🗺
@@kasperkjrsgaard1447 : ‘In Dances With Wolves’ the actor (Graham Green) who played ‘Kicking Bird’ was nominated for an Oscar but did not win. I was very disappointed about that too. Wes Studi is the first/only Native American to actually win an academy award.
I know everyone gives focus to Raul Julia but we mustn't really forget Wes's role as Sagat in Street Fighter. For how the film characterised Sagat, Wes was still awesome. Real gem.
Huge fan of Studi -- well-deserved and long-overdue recognition -- but the truly shining performance in Hostiles was Rory Cochrane's. Dominated in the 10-12 minutes he was given.
