There was never any public support towards Christina, or her book, by Bette Davis.
"Well, she [Christina] was a pretty destitute girl living in a motel out in the valley, and Joan did not give her anything. And it really was a book about an adopted child looking for love all her life. That was more important than the actual things Joan did. It's possible maybe it shouldn't have been done."
