I LOVE these plants so much!!!! Seriously once you get the hang of them they are SO REWARDING!!!! I have two HUGE pots of them that have 4 different blossoms (one came from a cutting from a plant that was 50+ at the time of it being taken) - currently they have more than 100 buds between them and I just hope I can get them to set to see the show this year! Be careful they are addictive plants! I got an Easter cactus last year and will see if I have what it takes to get it to bloom too!

Hi Nell! I have a Christmas cactus that I inherited from my Mom over 20 years ago, and Mom had it over 20 years before that! I gave it a little TLC last month that included worm castings. It blooms beautifully every year. Well, I have a lot of plants, but that one is very special to me. AND also, I really liked your very pretty, colorful sleeveless dress. Up here in Northern California we are doing the bulky sweater look! 😄

Hi Jackilyn - 40 years & that CC is still going strong! It's wonderful to have a plant or 2 that are special to us in some way. Thank you for the dress compliment! I lived in San Francisco for 20 years & lived in sweaters! Nell

💚🌺💚 You are so correct from my experience here in Arizona 🎋 as well! They are addictive just like my orchids. I started with a Scarlet Red and now 4 yrs later I have 10 Thanksgiving cacti. Five different colors. I found them all locally except my "rare yellow 💛" one. Love them so! 💚🌺💚

Sharon - Wow, what a collection! I'm looking forward to getting 1 or 2 more this year. I'd love to find 1 with apricot flowers! Nell

@@JoyUsGarden Yes, such a robust plant! My apricot/salmon/peach, lol is just starting to bud out. Quite a show last year.

@Sharon Holmes does the color of your buds indicate the color of the blooms?

Oops! That's a Thanksgiving cactus actually. The difference between the cacti is found in the shape of the leaves. The Thanksgiving cactus (Schlumgera truncata) has very pointed and claw shaped projections on the edges of the leaf. The Christmas cactus (Schlumgera bridgesti) has leaf projections which are more scalloped or tear drop shaped. Love your videos!

Thank you, Miguel! Yes, it is a Thanksgiving Cactus as are my 2 other ones. I explain that in the blog posts I've done on these Holiday Cacti but decided to skip it here. Most of them sold in the trade are TC because they bloom earlier but they call them CC. It's a marketing thing! Nell

I simply loooove your videos, from Desert Rose, which i have a 24 count variety of Arabicums and Obesums, to my orchids! Your videos are awesome, very informative and thoroughly narrated! I love my plants and i had a holiday cactus a couple of years ago and i moved and she suffered from the temperature changes up north. I purchased a spring cactus, 1 year ago this spring and she put on quite a show, this past spring and the floweres were a very dark fuscia/red color. Now, i just purchased 2 holiday cactis last week and their doing lovely! One fuscia and one white with pink highlights. Thank you for your videos as, i really appreciate them very much! Blessings and happy holidays 🙏happy growing

Hi Nell I have a very large Christmas cactus given to me and recently noticed that a lot of leaves are dropping. Not sure what's happening. I watered it because it was very dry, but problem is persists. Potting soil seems compact but because it's so large I'm hesitate to repot. Any advice. Love your videos.😊

My Christmas Cactus flowers bloomed well at after Thanksgiving week. But 2 weeks before Christmas, the small buds are falling down, even now 12/28/22. Can spray water over the plant, hope the buds stop fall down? I watered little to the plant since I thought the plant dried out. My plant is about 10 yrs old. Thank you.
