Very nice setup very organized. That river noise would put me to sleep so well. BC is Canada's rain forest province:)

The river sound was great! We did sleep well out there, especially because we could have a hot shower before crawling in to bed each night. I've tented over the years and that was fantastic but I picked up the old trailer a few years back, and I'll say that trailers offer comfort not found in a tent. Yes, we get lots of rain in the winters out here on Vancouver Island but the weather is often mild with little snow or freezing temperatures. I do enjoy "Real" winter but now I have to travel to find it haha All the Best for a Happy and Prosperous New Year! Take care Steve!

Be prepared must be your motto. As good as the footage of the camp was, it was the making sure you were safe and comfortable which I found most interesting.

Thanks! It is always a lot of work to prepare for an outing but well worth it once you've arrived on site.

What a great way to spend Christmas day!! Nice and peaceful and quiet...true nature! My father enjoyed his daily newspaper right up to a few days before his passing...nothing really matches holding one and reading. All the best to continued great adventures in 2024!! Bruce and Otis

That river going about its course, just doing its thing is fascinating. The tree that has been there before us and will be there after us. Silent sentinel marking the years and decades. The wild life gives you a little space for your visit. Good times, good adventures.

That tree, as you say, has been there long before and will be there long after all of us. The river was wild after many days of persistent rain and was actually quite dangerous to be near. It's that kind of high, fast-moving water that can sweep people away. We enjoyed our time out there despite the rain. here's hoping that you enjoyed the season with family and friends. All the best!

Hey there. Other than the rain, it seems like the temperature was on your side. Those little stoves are some nice. I was going to put one in the cabin, but I was worried someone would walk away with it. My big stove gives off too much heat. Marc and Doug have great channels. Kenny

Hi Kenny, it was fun to be out there and the spot by the river was very nice! The little stove was good to have along and we used it as a sort of campfire on legs while sitting under the awning out of the rain. Speaking of stoves going missing (or the fear of having one stolen), There is an old cook stove in a family cabin back east that was stolen shortly after it was installed back in the late 50s. Our family had a good idea who might have taken it so they got about six men together one day and drove out to the other camp where they found their stove all hooked up in the cabin. They disconnected and loaded the stove into a truck and brought it back. No punches thrown or other foolishness, just reclaimed their possession and left. Sometimes, that's the strongest message. Also, on the topic of stoves, I welded one and installed it in a cabin I helped build in Country Harbour NS back in '85. I was working at a place in Halifax that had some cold-rolled steel about 24" in diameter. I asked for a piece and welded an end and a door and crude legs. It was a beast that heated the camp for years. "Rough as guts" but it worked! Haha Happy new Year Kenny!

Thanks Nev! It was a nice spot and fun to be out there during Christmas. We exchanged a few small gifts (my wife and I) and kept things simple this year. She doesn't appear on camera much but her boots are seen warming by the stove in one shot ha ha. Take Care of yourself. So nice to hear from you! Go get yourself a nice wild haggis for the oven ( if the season is still open, that is).

Hi Marc, We had a good time and were happy to be in the bush for the week. The trailer is quite small but comfortable. The awning made the time much easier considering the rain. It was a steady +8C the whole week and, as you may have noticed, I got to wear sandals in December! Best wishes to you, your loved ones including the pups and family.

It looks like you have everything you could ever need with you. The hot water system is interesting. It looks like a fantastic location and a great trip. Happy New Year!

The shower, while quite tiny, is amazing and is very welcome to have at the end of a long, wet day puttering around the campsite. Hot water is something I take for granted while at home but it is a precious commodity out there (as is the fresh, drinking water). All the Best for a happy and productive new year and let's hope your channel keeps growing. Take care

Wow Craig what an incredible adventure. Thanks so much for posting this. I particularly like seeing your feet and sandals in the rain. That is such a cool trailer that you have rehabbed. It’s really beautiful. You are very talented and skilled. Your videos of areas like this on the island. Take me back to my time spent in the northwest and on Vancouver Island working in Gold River as a logger. There are two places in the world that I truly love: one is the northwest like Oregon, Washington, and British Columbia, and the other is the Canadian Rockies, Banff, national Park. Thanks again so much for bringing all the wonderful memories I have of these places. Take care!

It was a pretty steady 50 degrees Fahrenheit so sandals were in order! haha Gold River closed the mill many years ago and we hear that it became a Ghost Town (almost). In recent years, the houses are being bought by retirees and the prices are as crazy for a home there as anywhere else.This (secret) river location is a favourite spot for us, and we have been back there many times Summer and winter. For a 1989, the trailer is doing well, especially after the front wall rebuild that now keeps the weather out. Glad you enjoyed the show, Peter. take Care and thanks for watching!

Great trip that stove you got i got one like it i had to put a vent under the door to keep it from smoking when the door is shut. works perfect now.

They're a great little stove. We're going to use it as a "campfire on legs" from here on. It is actually pretty good to have set up near the canopy during rain because you still get the heat and rain usually means, no campfire. All the Best to you!

How's she goin'? What a great way to spend Christmas eh!! Nice and quiet and totally self-sufficient. Ya gotta love that. I saw the video Marc made about modifying his PA Stove. He made it into a cook stove as well as a heater. Pretty nice eh. Doug's channel is a great channel too. Doug is personable and easy to watch. There are a lot of neat systems on the trailer. And having the water tank in the truck and gravity feed to the trailer was great!! It's nice not to have to worry too much about running out of water. Those sausages looked like baby bolognas!! LOL Merry Christmas and Happy New Year Craig and Susan. Take 'er easy!!
@EverydayProjects
@EverydayProjects 8 месяцев назад
You're on to us, Mike. Those sausages were indeed baby baloney and now you're closer to knowing where their breeding ground is. Sneaky! Having a shower and hot water for dishes and cleaning, and also the 110 power off an inverter, and a gas fridge, stove and furnace sure work to spoil a fella out there. We wandered around, read, watched movies on our laptops , sat by the fire and ate entirely too much. But we had fun! Since we came home on Saturday we have been busy on the phone an on email talking with family and passing on secret news about the health of the wild baloney breeding stock. For just six easy payments of $139.99, you too can be kept updated on the reports that filter in from time to time. Make that call. Don't delay. Limited subscriptions are available! The first ten participants get a set of steak knives and a frisbee.
