SUGGESTION: When matching the tree/hat section to the bottom section, put a pin in the top seam an poke it in the bottom seam to make sure they are properly aligned THEN place a second pin to the left of the first pin. When sewing the seam, stitch to the first pin, remove it and carefully stitch to the pinned seam, remove the pin and continue to stitch the seam.

When you're working with so many bias edges on those triangles, I would strongly advise heavily starching them before sewing.

If someone tries to starch those pieces now (after already being cut to size) they are going to shrink on them and nothing will match up. Been there, done that. Starching would need to happen before cutting out pieces. Best thing to help with the bias edges now would be to use a walking foot when sewing to reduce stretch.

Great job on the tutorial. Bought the pattern…the gnomes are soooo cute…now those triangles…yeah we don’t play so nice in the sandbox together. 😝Have always had trouble getting them to line up. But it’s such a cute table runner I just have to try it. Really appreciate the detailed tutorial. Have a terrific week. 😁

I really appreciate this video, and how meticulous you are with measuring, pressing, etc. I am halfway finished, & am pretty new to quilting, so the triangles and gnome noses took a lot of time. Also, new to my machine, so it's been slow going. But I am glad I started now, so I'll have this for next Christmas!

Hi, I am new to sewing and bought this really cute table runner. Thank you for this wonderful video. I have used it many times. My question is that I recieved a large green print fabtic that I assume is the back to this runner. But no clear instruction to how this and batting ( not included) are attached to the front section. I am still sewing the red and green square border. Thank you for helping me. I have really enjoyed this experience!
@mystitchease
@mystitchease 4 месяца назад
The large piece is your backing. Have you ever done quilting before? I recommend machine quilting this over tying it so that it lays flat on your table. And the batting that I used in it is a cotton/poly 80/20 blend.

Adorable pattern. I ruined my cut pieces from the kit by starching but found fabric around the craft room to cut my own. I found it a tad tricky getting the 1/4" tips to work out. So needless to say Mr. Ripper and I had lots of date to fix. My only question is that by ironing towards the trees and hats I found the points rather thick. Would love to know how to retify that one.
@blockpartyquiltco.354

Oh no! I'm sorry to hear that that messed it up, if you're using starch I would definitely spray it on before you cut anything out.

I bought the pattern with the pre-cut fabric from someone on Etsy. I started making it for a friend but the pattern is not very clear in some steps. In particular where they tell you to make the half square triangles using the 2 1/2 inch squares and then tell you to square the hst’s to 2 1/2 inches … that doesn’t work out right . The finished hst block is smaller. I’m glad I’m working with some friends who are more experienced than I am so they are helping me work it out.
@blockpartyquiltco.354
@blockpartyquiltco.354 10 месяцев назад
I'm glad you brought this up, it came to my attention that we had a little typo on our pattern in this spot. The HST blocks should be squared to 2". Luckily the exact size of the square won't affect the way the whole pattern fits together.

@PeleLua1
@PeleLua1 10 месяцев назад
Yes! If they are precut I would not starch. If you cut the shapes from fabric already starched that’s different. I’ve ruined quits before by trying to starch after cutting. Sewing with a walking foot will also help keep bias edges from stretching on you, and helps when you can’t starch.
@patcongine6604
@patcongine6604 10 месяцев назад
You will distort the pattern pieces that have already been cut. If cutting from yardage then yes you can starch/iron prior to cutting

I don't recommend washing fabric before most quilting projects but especially not with precut kits. The fabric will fray and would become very difficult to work with.

Hello :) I just purchased your Christmas Gnome table runner pattern, have read through the materials list, instructions - twice. Am I missing something in that the pattern lists the "triangles" (needed for Gnomes and trees) but doesn't specify the measurement for the triangles. I'm new to quilting, feel like I'm so old (destressing from a couple years of many trials) and instantly fell in love with this table runner I hope to make for my daughter and granddaughters... they'll so enjoy this fun gift (I hope.) Thank you for the tutorial, I'm going to watch it again and hope to determine the measurements I need. Kindest regards.

There’s a picture in the listing that shows which is option A & option B. It would be nice if the 2 options were named something obvious (plain & busy? IDK) to make it easier to tell which is which. At the very least, a mention in the description to “See photo for fabric options” would really help.
