Great video, to be honest I've never even seen Black Christmas, but love to hear you talk about them. I love Tales From The Crypt! I would recommend Creep Show, so hilarious, horrific and fun!

I always get Creepshow and Tales mixed up in my head 😂 But I definitely need to revist them. They were faves of my dad so I would just pop in a see portions of the episode randomly. He always loved the quote "I want my caaaaaaake" around his birthday 😂 And definitely give the original Black Christmas movie a watch -- it's iconic!!

I also love watching the Disney A Christmas Carol every year! Also I love David Harbour so I watched "Violent Night" recently lol. I still have to do my yearly watch of A Nightmare Before Christmas, and I would love to watch Krampus! I've never seen it and didn't realize how many great actors are in it

I just re-watched Krampus last night (still loved it!!) and saw Violent Night for the first time. That one was fun but a little slow and cheesy for me. 🤣 I love that we get some Santa back story!! Total Thor vibes hahah

I loved this video Lauren! Thank you for the recs and honest reviews. My computer needed to get replaced so I haven’t been making video and this was definitely a theme I had wanted to explore so I appreciate you! Our Christmas horror go-tos are always Krampus and Gremlins and I honestly haven’t seen any of the ones on this list! At the very least we’ll be watching tales from the crypt! ❤💀💚

You're so welcome! I missed seeing your face on here and was curious where you had gone. I am glad things are all okay for you! And Krampus is so dang good. I saw it for the first time last december and I really wish there were more Xmas horror movies in existence at that caliber. It has the perfect balance of comedy and horror for me to take it seriously. AND THAT ENDING IS THE GREATEST!

@@happyhauntslibrary oh my gosh I know! Chills every single time. And I agree with the balance between horror and humor, which is not always easy to pull off, so I love it. Ugh, I missed you too - my macbook battery is basically going to explode any second so we decided to build a PC which took a bit longer than usual... but as soon as I have worked out the quirks of the new setup, I'll be back at it. 🥰

I’ve been so excited for this video and it did not disappoint! To go from A Christmas Carol to Silent Night must have been rough. I’ve been so disappointed by my watches this year so Tales from the Crypt sounds like a perfect way to salvage things. 🎄Haha add me to the list of Black Christmas (2019) and (2006) haters. The original though? Perfection! Barb is the best and we need more characters like her in horror. 🎄The Lodge seriously unsettled me and I think is mining a lot of the same theme as Smile. But the remote setting just makes it so much worse somehow. I absolutely agree that this would be a hard one to revisit.🎄Better Watch Out is one of my favorites but I know it’s definitely divisive. For me, it worked far better as a metaphor of privilege run amuck than Black Christmas (2019). We’re actually recording this afternoon and that’s one of the films we’re covering. I’m already prepared for everyone else to hate it haha

I absolutely LOVED the Horror Homeroom episode of Black Christmas. I have been so eagerly awaiting the next episode drop 👻 I am so happy to hear that it's coming soon! I am hoping I did all my homework for it 😂 I could totally be convinced by your metaphor regarding Better Watch Out. The more I think about why I didn't care for the twist, the more I think it comes down to taste. I don't think it's my kind of horror; it felt in line with the horror in Saw (but obviously not as intense or extensive).

Slashin' and Dashin' 🎄🩸 Barb is the best character from Black Christmas! Better Watch Out is hard to watch bc I hate that kid so much 😂 but I actually had fun with it recently! Garbage Day!! Classic! I just watched Anna and Apocalypse on Shudder and it was wholesome and some great songs 😂❄️👻 Merry Creepmas!

And I think that was my problem with Better Watch Out... that kid was so freaking annoying 😂😂 You are the second person to mention Anna and the Apolocalypse. I never thought about going backwards to watch remakes. That is a great idea. The Lodge is one of my favorites. It is very dark and bleak. I may rewatch it this week. lol

So so bleak! But the acting! Chefs kiss! 10 out of 10! And the little “bread crumbs” along the way in the form of the dolls and the doll house… so creepy in the best way 😂

The only one I've seen so far is The Lodge, and it was good but I agree it doesn't feel like a Christmas season horror movie... more like just a winter/snowy horror. ALSO I love your straightforward "this movie was not good" 😂

If there's no humor or some ridiculousness to it, I find it hard to watch Holiday Horror. 😄 It's why I love that Tales from the Crypt episode, haha. I watch it every year. 🤓

Exactly, Crystal - I need my holiday horror to be kitchy and silly rather than depressing. 😵‍💫 And I just watched Violent Night last night with my mom! I overall enjoyed it but found it slow in parts and a little cheesy, but what Christmas movie isn’t 😂

Black Christmas the original rules, and I agree with a lot of your thoughts on 2019's remake. Your analysis of Christmas Evil was so spot on! I'm sorry it took me so long to watch this video!!! Xmas Evil is probably my favorite Christmas horror movie. Better Watch Out really pi$$ed me off 😂 GARBAGE DAYYYYY hahaha will also quote that forever. Love this video!!!!! ❤

I haven't watched the 2019 Black Christmas and to be honest, it's mostly because of how much hate it got. I enjoyed hearing your take on it and your point is sooo true! I may watch it this year! I haven’t seen the 2019 Black Christmas but honestly sounds good from what you were saying! I do really enjoy the other two. I agree. The Lodge is just okay. Saw it in theaters and don’t think I will spend time on it again. I honestly really love Better Watch Out, mainly because the twist made it way different than I anticipated and from other holiday horror I have seen. Hahaha oh noo so sorry about Silent Night😅😅😅 will not be watching that! You need to watch Anna and the Apocalypse!!!! It’s fantastic and a fun, campy, zombie Christmas movie. Dead End is a lower budget horror Christmas movie. It is def not for everyone, but would probably make the list of my all time fave horror movies.

I am trying to imagine seeing the Lodge with an entire room of strangers 😂 Like the reveal of who/what's responsible would have been such a wild moment! 😂 You are the second person to recommend Anna and the Apocalypse to me! I am 1000% getting to this one because I heard it's streaming on Shudder! And I was looking up peoples' reviews of Dead End after I read this comment and people love this one; they think it's super creepy and claustrophobic? Color me intrigued!!

@@happyhauntslibrary I know! Also the Alicia Silverstone part I audibly gasped 😭 Yes, Anna and the Apocalypse is an amazing time! Dead End takes place with them driving to family for Christmas and mostly takes place in a car. The Christmas element isn’t super heavy though, so you could rly watch it any time.

Omg Better Watch Out is one I thought was SO different when i first seen it but I am so curious how i would feel if i rewatched it now!!! If it would hold up or not! 😅 One xmas horror i really liked too was the Krampus movie from 2016....ugh the ENDing just stuck with me 😫 This is such a great list of holiday horror films!!! I just seen a preview for a new one coming out....i think its called "its a wonderful knife" that im so interested to check out!!! ❄️💯🗡

The ending of Krampus is WILD. The creators are purposely vague about it and dodge definitive questions in interviews haha. Sneaky, sneaky people!

I love The Lodge, but it's definitely a bleak film. I also hated Better Watch Out. The twist was so uncomfortable. I watched A Christmas Horror Story this weekend on Shudder and was pleasantly surprised. It's a better than average anthology and has William Shatner 😅.

I think that’s why I disliked Better Watch Out - the twist made me feel so uncomfortable. It totally changed its horror subgenre and it wasn’t my kind of movie at that point! And thank you so much for the rec!! I have Shudder and I think I saw it on there!

I was surprised how much I liked the newest Black Christmas. I think it would have been more well-received if it was its own movie and not a reboot because people REALLY love the OG one.

Silent Night, Deadly Night from 1984 is on RU-vid for free. I bought the Blu-Ray anyway. I recommend the first Christmas horror movie that came out two years before Black Christmas, which is called Silent Night, Bloody Night from 1972. That is also included on RU-vid for free. And the only version of Black Christmas that is worth a damn is the original. The other two are insulting in how shitty and lame they are.

Your poor family being forced to watch Silent Night. I didn't mind Black Christmas (2019) but the tone was all over the place and the scares were messy (and not in a good way). As far as recs for Christmas horror comedies I'm going into subtitle mode with The Day of the Beast (1995) and Rare Exports (2010).

Single-handedly ruining relationships with one movie night 😂 And thank you SO much for the movie recs. I JUST saw Rare Exports with my mom last week after I filmed this video. (I was trying to redeem myself.) And we had a great time with it! It has some subtle moments of comedy but ultimately it was intense but with a heartwarming tone. I loved the twist toward the end! A lot of disbelief needed to be suspended but it was cute! I honestly feel like it needs more attention than it gets.

I really like the 70s and the 2019 Remake. The 2006 Remake....is...something else hahaha. I enjoyed 2019s heavy handedness because I do really enjoy angry politically motivated films. It felt like it was done with purpose. Haven't rewatched it yet, but I think it is a movie with a clear purpose, so I really enjoyed it. BARB FOR LIIFE hahahaha. I NEED the sweater with the hands, they were made a few years ago but it was too expensive. 👀👀 OOOH YOU WATCHED CHRISTMAS EVIL....now I am on the edge of my seat. YES....I LOVE CHRISTMAS EVIL YES YES YESSS. OH GOD...THE LODGE....OH that movie is a B U M M E R. I remember enjoying Better Watch Out...but like I haven't watched it since it came out. HAHAHAHAHA I WOULD HAVE TRIED to save you from Silent NIGHT, that remake...oh NOOOOOO. Have you seen the 70s Tales from the Crypt movie? It also adapts the same story as the episode you watched but with tons of 70s vibes, I like the 90s one but I love the 70s one! GARBAAAAGE DAAAAAAAAAY

OKAY WOWWWW I just looked up "hands sweater, Black Christmas movie" because I had no clue what you were talking about and I almost DIED laughing when the image of Olivia Hussey on the phone came up 😂😂😂😂 I have never noticed that while watching it and will be so excited when I do during my next rewatch. 😂 And I have seen stills from the 70s one but I have yet to watch it. I definitely should, even if it is the exact same storyline. I hope there's still the scene where the woman calls her lover just to get his answer machine that says he's probably out partying 😂 What a keeper!
