My favorite part of this scene is when he gets a drink at the end. He just had them empty their pockets and even covered the ring. No one else in the room has any money left to buy a drink! He didn’t just deflate the challenge, but totally messed with their heads. A brilliantly written and acted scene.
@@mulemule I got that shirt online somewhere a couple of years ago. Don’t recall where. I’m sure it was somewhere between $15-$25 plus shipping. I carry Zener cards with me, (I keep a deck in the car); so I wear the shirt often.
"I'm a millionaire. That's the difference. I lose 80 I get another 80". One of the best lines in a movie ever because a lot of us wish we could say that. Lol
If you fell asleep during the middle 25-30 minutes of it and just saw the first third and the last third, you’d think it’s the greatest movie of all time

Nathan are you 70? Cause you're showing signs of not paying attention in school, if you had I don't think it would of been so tough.. Or maybe you wanted to be a tough guy to much 🤷♂️
Christopher Walken has a way of delivering lines that nobody else in Hollywood could get away with. It's not how you'd expect the line to be said, but it works for him, and very well at that. Absolutely iconic.
That nobody in life could get away with. IRL, if you met somebody who talked like Walken you would just be WTF? I do wish that Walken had more monologues in his roles. He'd be brilliant in The Black List.
Dennis Hopper begs to differ. Script written by Tarantino. De Niro also out bad assed Walker in Deer Hunter; the Russian Roulette scene. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-S3yon2GyoiM.html
@@mcsuchnsuch yes I agree with the previous Christopher Walken statement but I also agree with you with DeNiro when he was interviewed about the taxi driver scenes he said that was basically him. He also admitted in a Playboy article back in the seventies that he snorted heroin to get into his scenes. Hey whatever works?
The best part is he says he doesnt try to "act like the character" but rather, he attacks each roll as if it were "(himself as the character)". Its a fantastic approach and so different from other greats like Daniel Day-Lewis, Denzel Washington, Jack Nicholson, etc... guys who put on the character rather than put themselves on the character. We're always seeing "literally Christopher Walken as..."
One of the really awesome things about him is his speech rhythm, with his off-beat pauses and unpredictable gestures... kinda like what William Shatner did with Captain Kirk. That speech rhythm makes him great at tense moments like this one, but it's also great with comedy, and motivation. Ever seen his "two little mice" speech?
I read an interview with him once where he said that his characteristic speech rhythm comes from his days as a dancer. He said that he remembers the dialogue as if it's choreography, all about beats and rhythms. It's a dance. Not consciously. It just happens for him that way.
kief4diamonds This is one of my favorite things, that moment when someone realizes just moments too late that they have bitten off more than they can chew.
Richard III - $125k a hand? Lol, last time I was at the Casino, I saw multiple PLO hands worth $500k+, and that was just on the "regular" floor, and not the high rollers room.
Jimmy Russel okay now cool your jets.... you don't want to show your hand too much! Cuz then someone like me sees it and realizes you don't know what you're talking about. On the regular floor it is very possible to earn more than what you get on average in a high-roller room. That's not really a speculation or guess it is math. People in High Roller rooms don't run such great risks as they do on the floors that you and me go to. Me for instance, I took huge risks when bedding my winnings. that I could have just walked away with!! And yes sir it was something like $200,000. Obviously that's not nearly as much money as what you're talking about. However I only gambled in Las Vegas once. The reason why I took such a risk is because I knew people took bigger risks and WON!!!! Now clearly you can say that my story is made up. However, what you can't say is that my fact are unfounded. Statistics is what makes the world go round. It's what makes gambling, gambling!! But if you're going to say that the high-roller room is where a unicorn sucks you off while you have a cheeseburger and watching Iron Mike Tyson in his prime taking on a young Lennox Lewis! Then you are exactly the mark that Las Vegas is waiting for
Matt Crouch Well - watched it now. Loved it. The billiards is of minor importance. What's of major fuckin' importance is that Chris Walken's in it. Lol
That famous cool Walken eccentricity 😂 but don’t overlook Chazz Palmintieri, he is seriously underrated. He often has a menacing way of putting an enemy or rival on the spot, keeping them on their toes, and does it so well, he makes other actors look better than they actually are.
Close to 20 years old and the movie still stands up as one of the best in my mind. Mars Callahan selected and picked the exact cast. Christopher Walken is Christopher Walken turn the table with class and dignity and the millionaire bit is just Priceless he dose it right you can't find scene better than that.
That was 20 years ago. I don’t know of any stage work since. Certainly not in NYC. He was fabulous though, only cast member who didn’t use an Irish brogue and somehow it didn’t matter.
It was a small film that went largely unnoticed, but you can tell that the big names Mars Callahan managed to snag clearly relished their roles and did the first-time director a big solid by cutting their salaries, etc. I've seen this movie at least 50 times, as well as The Hustler and The Color of Money. A perfect trilogy. Walken has so many scene-stealing moments, and everyone else is at the top of their game as well. I think this might have been Rod Stieger's final film?
Christopher Walken is such an awesome guy. I love that he takes part in every and any movie. He's in so many good movies but also so many awful movies. It's like he's just like "Hey.. Don't you kids fret. There's plenty of Walken to go around... Where do you want me?"
Both actors are very good in that memorable scene filled with humorous bravado. They respectfully throw mud at each other and then have a drink together. What a humanly warm scene!
Oh wow, Walken on (to splash the cash) and Walken off (to go get a drink). Man, Chris is the BOSS. Wherever he is, whatever he's doin; whatever film he's in, whatever character he's playin' - HE FUCKIN' OWNS IT. Madly in love with this guy. MADLY. :-)
absolutely not.the arts reflects the times.only thing going on in the world now is b.s.so those are the actors that are being produced, same goes for music
Christopher Walken .. is THE MAN .. in the League of Hollywood Legends .. in his just being .. and bringing Characters to life .. i mean who else could pull off ..catching mice .. playing an Evil Angel ... dancing on the walls to a song for a music video .. and .. “The Continental “ or “ i Gotta have More Cowbell “ and dozens and dozens more
Omg I love love the way he acts. I remember about 8 to 10 years ago. I remember going to this restaurant very cozy and the owner had a lot of pictures of famous actors. They used to go to the restaurant. I remember it was winter and it was so cold, so I went to buy breakfast for my kids. So I was sitting waiting for my order and when I looked to my right, omg there was Christopher Watkins omg and I was looking at him and he was looking at me. I remember he was drinking coffee and eating breakfast. So I'm so stupid that I froze lol, I wanted to say something but I was froze so he looked at me and he wink at me. He was dressed in black as always wearing a scarf around his neck. He gave me that sassy smile of him. And I couldn't say anything. I remember the name of the restaurant SHELDON'S, it was located in sunny isle in the beach. ofcourse is not there anymore but the owner was a very beautiful women she was like maybe in her early 70s. So she came with my order so I asked her, I told her one I just saw the actor Christopher Watkins omg, she looked at me and said, oh please he comes every year especially during Christmas. And the day I saw him it happened to be on Christmas. I totally freak out. She goes well did you talk to him lol I replied no I couldn't and she's starting laughing. Omg I'm so stupid lol. But yes I saw him. What a day I couldn't believe it. But he said in interview that I was watching and he said that he always use the same clothes on the movies. He never gets rid of them and is obvious like to dress up in black. He's one of my favorite actors.
Walker is such a great actor. From the serious to the downright weird. One of my fav movies ever was The Deer Hunter, then you have Seven Psychopaths. What a range.
Christopher did this movie great…like every other one. He often plays a cocky individual in movies or a mob type guy, but in real life he is so soft spoken, reserved and a gentleman. I feel fortunate to be born in his generation and be a witness to all of his awesome works in movies and SNL, etc. Special person God made him to be❤️🙏😊👍
