I have loved Jackson Browne since I first heard his voice in 1972. The first song I heard was "Doctor My Eyes" on the first album. There is a song on that record which I fell in love with, about a girl named Jamaica who was a childhood friend of Jackson. The song is "Jamaica, Say You Will." Eight years later I gave birth to my second daughter. I had been saving that name in my heart, and I named her Jamaica. We moved across the Bay from San Francisco to the beautiful county of Marin, named for a Miwok Chief. We heard of another girl named Jamaica who lived in the area. Many years later I finally met her and asked why her parents named her Jamaica. She said, "Because of the song by Jackson Browne."

Yeah, Christy is a man who never compromised his principles and took on "politically incorrect" causes, even at the risk monetary loss. I truly respect him as both a man and, of course, a talented artist. I was fortunate enough to get his autograph in September 2000 and have my picture taken with him....
