1 How to use chromecast without wireless WiFi router is to factory reset chromecast by holding button for 7 seconds.
2 select a phone to setup as a Hotspot acting like a wifi network, turn off wifi and turn on mobile hotspot
3 setup hotspot name and password so devices can connect to
4 use another tablet or phone download or update google home app
5 continue with setup and follow setup wizard
6 select app with cast icon features to cast to TV

The best tutorial EVER! I never touched a Chromecast neither set up anything. I always had someone doing it for me and never wanted to learn. Now, sadly, I don't have that someone anymore 💖 and I have been trying many times. I just could do because I found your video. Thanks a lot and bless you!

Thanks man, works fine. I used two devices. LG G4 as Hotspot. Samsung Tab for Google Home. RU-vid TV is on the big screen in my RV!

Me too! I used one device to tether and one device to cast because the phone that was tethering did not recognize the the Wi-Fi tethering network for the setup. Works like a charm!

Heres your thumbs up 👍👍 I was just thinking the other day.about this.but it would always hook up to house wifi...I didn't know what that button did...I purchased the 4k chromecast. And hooked it to my surround reciever. Via hdmi.which then hooks to tv..this will be great for being off the grid...or camping.. Thanks.

Hey bratha. Great videos like always. Wanted to change out some speakers for my Inlaws samsung TV. What would be a reliable site to get parts from? I tried to fix the settings but I think they put it to load. I can still hear the shows just sound scratchy and echo. Any help would help

Awesome thanks man. Struggling to figure this out. Bought a usb c to HDMI adapter at first but it didn't have a usb power plug in so ran back to walmart and picked up a Chromecast device and watched this video and wala it works! Very much appreciated!

To answer all questions once you have used 2 phones for the setup you can make both phones hotspots the same name and password and you can now turn your hotspot on the device u wish to cast and the second device is not needed...you only need a second device for the setup...i just did this successfully and it works

Or you can set up your ChromeCast on your home wifi and then just name your phone the same as your WiFi SSID and use the same password. Your ChromeCast won't know the difference between your home wifi and your phone's hotspot.

I only use 1 phone, but sometimes there where connection problems because most apps that support casting didn't recognize my hotspot as a wifi signal. To avoid this problem turn on WiFi together with mobile hotspot, make sure the settings for sharing wifi connection is on, as well as 'switch over to mobile data', which can be found in the advanced menu in the WiFi setting menu. In this way you can both have WiFi and your mobile hotspot active together without being actually connected to a WiFi signal, but the apps will still think you are on WiFi. Hopefully these instructions make sense, I'm a Dutch woman with no technical knowledge at all, so probably it all sounds like gibberish.

Tried that here in Australia but my Samsung phone will not allow hotspot and wifi at the same time. I have only ONE phone and Chromecast. No WIFI here. Hotspot only. Connecting happens but impossible to predict- sometimes instant but most times HOURS of switching and rebooting everything, even with Google home. FRUSTRATED!!! Can you telly me why???

I Found that you do need WI fi to connect To the chromecast but after that I was able to follow the steps up I work A flying and fly out job and couldn't connect to camp Wi-Fi so I found this very useful

@@azurepink5737 if your tablet has a sim card and you can use it as a hotspot then yes. What I did with my phone was open the data and hotspot and close Wi-Fi. Then use another phone to connect to chromecast via my phone's hotspot internet. Once chromecast is connected to your hotspot then you can use your phone to cast to chromecast directly. Only by opening the hotspot. Sorry I wrote it in a rush, tell me if it's not clear.

You need wifi only for the initial setup. Afterwords it works only on mobile hotpot.

At 2:32 min. I can see that your wifi was connected! (it connected automatically) For me, it was not a solution. Mine keeps saying to connect to wifi.I can't get further than this.

Really wish there was a way to cast straight to the Chromecast without a second device? If I'm alone on the boat then I've only got one device so can't use this method. This is great if you're a couple or a family but aside from that Chromecast still has flaws. I even have the ability to set up a WiFi hotspot using the Navigation system on the boat but as that can't connect to the internet this method doesn't work either.

During setup I'm able to get the chromecast connected to the Hotspot phone, but after the casting phone won't connect back to the Hotspot phone. Any ideas?

Thanks man, very handy. I'm using this method to cast song lyrics/chords to a monitor on stage using Onsong from my iPad. I built a small flatscreen tv into an old stage monitor so it just looks like a wedge to the audience. I use a Bluetooth page turner to control the iPad which just sits out of sight somewhere. Works great! I just hate the look of an iPad clipped to a mic stand!

That shouldn't work because you need both the phone and Chromecast on the same wifi network and the phone can't be on its own wifi when it is being used as a router.

It didn’t work with my iPhone. My hotspot doesn’t appear as a possible red. And I tried with my wife’s LG and didn’t work. Also, I read an article posted in February 2018 saying that Chromecast no longer works with hotspot. Any advice?

Hi. Once you're done setting it all up, Can you use chromecast to play RU-vid content via Google home app on your smartphone, but your smartphone is connected to a different network? (chromecast and smartphone are not on the same network)

Nope. Your smartphone, ChromeCast and Google Home must all be on the same wifi network for that to work.

Hi i am encountering a problem of late with my chromecast which used to work without an issue on the same TV. i have checked in my neighbour'' s house my chromecast it works fine. i have checked the hdmi port of my tv using direct cast through wired hdmi cable. works fine. when i connect the chromecast to hdmi port it some times shows as if starting up and after a while no signal comes in. i have tried this through hot sport switching off the wifi router. but no use. i am using the same netgear wnr 612 mini router and i do not know whether the settings have been changed when i reconnected the wifi service last month after a break of 1 year. but i am not able to use evenwith mobile hotspot. can you help me.

Note... You can only do this in places with internet, as the Chromecast requires to do a handshake with the Google servers for everything! So, be careful following his advice on vacation as you will burn through your data allowance in no time.

Can't be done. The ChromeCast does not have a 4g/LTE antennae so I cannot connect to your phone without a hotspot/router.

I think it will use up all your data very quickly I'm not an expert on this but I think so I only have 15 GB hotspot in that's about an hour or two of watching videos and it's gone and then it's throttle down to where you can't even really use it anymore for that month so I think this is very bad advice this guy gave but I could be wrong
