In this video: Using food effectively for CFS recovery was such a game-changer for me. Here I share my experience of what worked and what didn’t work for CFS ME recovery regarding practices such as intermittent fasting, a vegan diet, juice fasts, increased caffeine intake, and more!

As I stress in the video, please remember that this is what worked for me, and it absolutely will not be suitable for everyone. Please make your own assessment, do your own further research, and consult your trusted healthcare professionals before deciding if anything I talk about here might be right for you.

@@RaelanAgle hey im just started keto and for weight loss because i gained so much weight from meds and having CFS and im always horribly sick. The ketonis helping alot but when i get down to my goal weight I plan on switching to the lean meats mostly. I eat alot of steak and it doesn’t seem to bother me. I was just wondering what kind of fermented foods do you recommend? Im Turkish and American so my father introduced me to Kefir which is fermented. I read somewhere online that you’re supposed to have like a shot before each meal like 30 minutes before each meal and they said you’ll notice improvements in about six weeks with your IBS symptoms which I have that comes along with my chronic fatigue syndrome. Im interested in what you recommend for the fermented stuff and maybe a portion idea so i know how much to eat per day? I basically am full keto low carb no bread or pasta or processed stuff i only eat Just meat and veggies.

I feel dumb cause the doctors told me i gad to take all these drugs that made me gained weight and messed me up more. I shoulda just found you and life would been better a lot sooner. Right now I’m at like 45% better than i was. I’m sure with the fermented foods it will go higher according to all the data i could find and now what your telling me.

Raelan, I saw in this and another video of yours about that Omega juicer. So I got one. What I would like to know is - you said you carried it around the world with you. AND while you were doing some of that traveling, you were sick? That Omega juicer is huge and heavy. I have wondered for a year or two how you managed that. Also, you traveled while you were sick. When I’m sick I can’t walk across the room. And I was never as sick as you had been. How did you travel (just making the travel arrangements and figuring out all that) while ill? Your videos, as others have told you, are a godsend. And so are you, to us.

Raelan, thank you so much for sharing what helped and worked for you. Truly grateful for it! :) In my own experience, being mindful of your diet is one of the most fundamentally helpful and sound things you can do for your body as well as emotional and mental well-being. Now working with Chronic Fatigue, the lesson is all the more relevant and seeks reimplementation :) It's amazing the influence food has on our bodies - it is literally the fuel we put into our tank, which in turn will determine the quality of our journey ahead. Bless you for sharing your experience and the lessons you learnt on them so graciously. It is profoundly helpful and deeply cherished.

Idea for another video: while you were recovering, but not yet fully healthy, how did you balance rehab versus living your life (going to social events, etc.)? I've found that if I focus too much on rehab, I get depressed, which negatively impacts my recovery. On the other hand, if I focus too much on my social life, my health suffers as a result.

I'm thrilled to hear that you're enjoying my channel, Kathy! I'm not familiar with this particular brand of sauerkraut, but I've come to learn that often ones that are stored in the refrigerated section of the grocery store will likely still have live probiotics in them, whereas the ones stored out on the shelves at room temperature likely do not. It seems that the processing required to make it safe to sit on shelves for months kills off most of the probiotics. I hope that helps!

Re: caffeine - I have recently reached a point in recovery where caffeine has become beneficial instead of making me sicker. It used to deplete my adrenals and energy, cause worse brain fog, interrupt my sleep, and worse. But now coffee gives me a little energy bump that doesn’t feel abnormal, it doesn’t affect my sleep at all, or anything else negatively for that matter. I take this as a sign my autonomic nervous system is going back into more of a normal state.

Hi Jamo, I kept (and still keep) my fasting window the same 7 days per week, life permitting. My regular schedule is to eat between 10am -6pm, so an 8 hour eating window and 16 hour fasting. When I was still sick and actively working on recovery I would periodically for shorter periods (a couple weeks at a time) reduce my eating window to around 4 hours, only eating between 1pm-5pm for example. :)

Can I do smoothies instead of juicing? Or can I blend the veg/fruit and then use a cheesecloth to squeeze the juice out and separate it from the pulp?

Hey Charlotte! In my experience, both smoothies and juicing have done me good in terms of recovery. I've found more intense results from juicing, so smoothies worked well for me when I wasn't up for the intensity of juicing. Both should be giving your body a break in terms of digestion I would think! But I'm not a doctor so can only share what my experience was. And yes - I've also used the cheesecloth method for squeezing the juice out and have found that it works quite well!

I'm 15 years in as of this fall. It started young and stole my chance at an independent life. But I also have other health issues, and they conflict with each other. For instance, my MTHFR needs leafy greens, but my ruined gut says no (not in the quantities I need); my fibro-induced brain fog, insomnia, and encroaching Alzheimers all need caffeine for me to function (literally to keep from hurting myself in fatigue-induced clumsiness), but CFS says no; I need to eat whole foods for, well, all of it, but my CFS says "I'll kill you if you try to put effort into meals" (the best I can do is monomeal, since that isn't much 'prep'); intermittent fasting would be so good with my damaged gut, but not when I have chronic malabsorption; and so on, and so forth. They all play against each other, and on top of that, I am resistant to all forms of treatment. Little works. All I've done is slow things down. I don't type this to be a downer; I appreciate the information, and I really will try anything. I just don't know how to manage multiple conditions.

Hi there. Thought I'd share what worked (well best plan atm) for me. i have multiple health issues ( b12 deficiency bile gastritis slow digestive system low adsorption HSD Fibro CFS/ME ect) and all have different needs and exclusions. To try and have the best diet possible i wrote lists of what helped and a list of what didn't help for each condition. I used a basic red orange green system. Foods that helped in a big way or helped most my conditions went on green list(like my can not function without before you speak brand coffee! & My iso shake for bad bad days ) Those middle of the road help some conditions or one condition alot foods. Red light was foods that did me in (like sugar and gluten) I then try to eat mostly from the green column some orange no red. Its basic not prefect im still working on it but at least its a frame work. Sending u positive vibes.

I’m a bit confused in your recovery videos you said you tried raw vegan and your hair fell out. I’d be curious to see what foods you eat in a day/week etc. Did you cut out gluten too? My oxalates are high so I have to avoid quite a few veg and fruit so to cut out meat would leave me with even less options
@RaelanAgle
@RaelanAgle 4 года назад
Hey Charmaine! It sounds like you're having quite a tough time, I'm so sorry that you're facing this right now. Yeah, for me a raw vegan diet didn't seem to help me at all (even though it quite possibly might work wonderfully for some others). But a cooked vegan diet has been a game changer for me personally. It gives a broader variety of foods such as beans and lentils, grains, potatoes, etc. that the raw vegan diet does not allow. I tried cutting out gluten during the first couple of years that I was sick and it did't seem to help me at all, so I've been back eating gluten ever since. I know it causes some people problems, but I seem to be fine. I can see how with the restrictions that you have with fruits and vegetables that a vegan diet might be challenging for you. It isn't going to be for everyone, for sure. Sending you my best with all of this, I know how challenging it can be to figure it all out!
@misscharmaineX
@misscharmaineX 4 года назад
Thank you - it’s so hard to know what is the right diet for you personally, I’ve tried a few and haven’t noticed any major changes. I’m trying to eat only organic foods but it’s so difficult in the uk we are behind the us in that sense. Hopefully when my oxalate level is reduced I can try vegan; I think you would be the perfect person to make a cook book. I love your videos btw you are very inspiring x
@RaelanAgle
@RaelanAgle 4 года назад
@@misscharmaineX it IS so hard, isn't it? Sometimes it feels like the more researching and experimenting you do, the more lost you are. I'm so relieved that I seem to have finally found what works best with my body, but it took years to sort that out. The organic thing can be challenging for sure, I relate to that! For what it's worth, I did the bulk of my healing while living in Indonesia where organic food is incredibly difficult to find. So even though I imagine that eating organic food would be optimal, for me at least, it wasn't necessary. And thanks so much for the cook book suggestion! I have thought about it actually! Perhaps one day. I really do appreciate the positive feedback so much, so thank you for that! Hang in there Charmaine & I hope you find what works for you soon ❤️

now the cause of Chronic Fatigue Syndrome is found: radiation of microwaveoven.(magnetron) To stop you have to eliminate the oven out of the house. The plug out of electricity net because the oven has also radiation when it is not in use.And out of the house because the oven has a high voltage capacitor. The distance between an oven and a person is very important.After a 2 weeks without microwaves health becomes better.
