- God like parasite that spent millions of years beneath the planets surface gathering strength. - After all the waiting, it rises up to collect its final payoff.... only to get massacred by a teenage boy, a talking frog, and an angry cavewoman....
- All-powerful prince of intergalactic space pirates spends a full year inside a flying baseball to reach a planet that holds the key to immortality. - After all the waiting, he lands to collect his final pay-off... only to get massacred by a low-class warrior, his 5-year-old son, a midget and an obese man with a sword.
Most JRPGs I play usually features some godlike being spouting stuff about "humanity bad" or whatever. Lavos is some creepy gigantic parasite feeding off from the planet for countless generations. That's metal as hell.
I find it kinda funny that the animation that plays when Lavos Core, the FINAL BOSS, dies it's the animation of a commom enemy -and not the animation that plays on a Boss Fight, which flashes the screen 3 times and the enemy slowly fades away -
Yeah, it's not some malevolent force like in other Nintendo or Square Enix properties, it's just a powerful parasitic animal doing what it does: survive
of course, however, in our own human eyes, they're are considered evil since they're parasites on our own perspective, since they're stealing our own resources for their survival.
Yes. He's more intelligent than anyone can imagine. And in Chrono Cross, he's PISSED that a group of "cattle" like the players wanted to stop him from doing what he felt was "natural".
Aparently, it appears to be just a parasyte driven by instincts alone, and considering how its species aparently records the DNA of every life form of their host planet, maybe evolution is what lead to it hiding as the "uninportant helper" as everyone always attacks the big bad guy as it's the one that matters. Then my theory is that in Chrono Cross, with Schala being consumed by its remains, gave it a significant power boost, since such an item as the Chrono Cross is required to truly beat it, along with some sort of basic concience trough Schala's corrupted mind as seen in the added fight on the DS Version
No. Lavos is a non-sentient, but UNIMAGINABLY POWERFUL lifeform. Which makes this game an even more grandiose masterpiece, since the "revenge" everyone and specially Magus wanted to accomplish against Lavos, was meaningless because the object of their hatred wasn't even self-concious nor had even a spark of intelligence at all - it only acted on instinct.
@@kylestubbs8867 Lavos is an abominable creature with the combined DNA of everything that has ever lived in Earth. With that in mind, the variety of instinct-based actions Lavos can take is virtually unlimited. Thus, having the biggest remaining part of itself as a decoy makes absolute sense since there must be (or must have been) creatures that have used the same survival tactics as Lavos.
@@coballard5334 If I am remembering correctly, Chrono Trigger WAS the original concept for FF7. I might be misremembering that, though, so take it with a pinch of salt.
Still today thats the best game ever designed and thought off... especially when Im inspired by all the concepts behind the story and how it's the player's choice who makes decision for the game until the end... because it's all the possibilities what if we could prevent apocalypse then it must be trigger in form of a memory and at the moment when it can be triggered via gate key . you cant change the future so each era is triggered by the player because it never existed before, only in dream or nightmare... thats why thereis multiple endings. I just find out if you look carefully right after you beat lavos core, everything vanish but returns in silouhette, lavos core is everything and must repeat the cycle each time so thats why you wake up in your bed for the ending we wanted... i love this game so much.
still dreaming with an HD 3D version of VI but until now the maximum we get was ghost train, Ultros, Doma kingdom and Kefka battle on FF XIV: Stormblood
I just used this exact strategy and I had absolutely no trouble beating Lavos and I’ve beaten this game more than I can count since I first owned it on the SNES back in 1994 or ‘95. I used to use Crono, Marle, and Frog exclusively for this fight. And though I always won, I wanted a better way to do it. This is it, for sure. Bravo
Me too. This is my favorite game of all time. I have it on my iPhone and used your strategy yesterday. I was struggling and I think this version is harder than the original SNES version. Or maybe it’s just me 😀
Fun Times I know I’m late but what did you mean by that? Thought of playing again and would like to know if they’ve done something different in their updates
just beat chrono trigger on my Wii holy shit this was such a good rpg. I actually played it blind too, so I’m even happier about that, the experience was like no other *by the way… this boss had my adrenaline PUMPING*
Did anyone notice the leftover bit at the end when the screen is fading to white. The frozen flame in Chrono Cross is a piece of lavos. I wonder if that was it.
Very very impressive work my friend! Great job on beating this game! I hope either one day I can find a DS copy of Chrono Trigger for myself, or it comes to the Switch
The Lavos boss fight perhaps is the inspiration for the final fight with Ultimecia from Final Fantasy 8. They are both set on a time-compressed location.
I beat lavos with Crono, Lucca and Marle I wasn't expecting the lavos core to die when it did, i was focusing damage on the healer core and the central core They must've shared damage or something
I’ll never forget the first time I heard that burning sound of the right bit and lavos core dying. I screamed with joy. I’d say over my life time, I’ve probably beat this game about 20 times full playthrough. I’ve gone years without playing, but then ended up going back to it many years later.
Maybe is a year late.... I played the android version and I thought it's gonna be easy cause it's an RPG but actually is difficult to play with touch controls is more slower and imprecise so I can't even beat magus first fight! I used a controller to beat the game like the old times
I don't know about you guys, but that fight personally gave me some fear when I did my first Crono trigger run you feel like it's up to you to save time and reality lol
It's a glitch. Someone else could probably explain it better, but from what I remember hearing, the left pod and other enemies that can be "revived" don't really die, they're just invisible and cannot be targeted. Making them invisible and then visible again is easier programmatically than erasing them and then adding them in again. This normally wouldn't be an issue, but that visual effect accidentally reveals it. The right pod being defeated triggers the other pods to actually die before moving to the end sequence, but since the left pod was invisible, it is ignored and doesn't die.
My team has aaaallwaayyss been Crono, Marle, and Ayla. sometimes i might swap out ayla for someone else for fun, but my strongest team is crono marle and ayla. once you hit the 3rd turn, it's all over. nothing can beat you once you've got haste on all 3 characters. you start spitting out falcon hits twice for every single enemy turn. and with marle on the heals, you're invincible. that, and it just bothers me if i don't have ayla charming power tabs/speed tabs/rare items like nova armor etc off of monsters. specifically, the ocean palace MUST be done with ayla. if you don't charm stuff in there, you lose out on sooooo muuuuuuucccccchhhhh powerful loot. in ocean palace alone you'll find enough speed tabs to get 4 characters to **speed just get a couple gold studs and you'll never run out of mana i ranted, didn't i..
I wish Square Enix would do an HD remake of this game for the PS4/PS5 and for the Switch. It's my favorite RPG of all time. Phenomenal video!! 😎👍🏆 I liked and subscribed!! Have an awesome day!!
I beat Lavos yesterday using Crono, Marle and Robo at levels 50-55. It was hard af and I forgot to buy Athenian Water, so I couldn't let any of them die.
I wonder if lavos in 1999 AD is actually the covid-19 in 2020 AD now, spreading danger all over the world... his shell looks similar to the coronavirus
I’ve always loved Lavos in the game. It was already cool as this destructive monster, but finding out that inside it was actually this alien that is so strange and without explanation was so awesome! I’ve always had a theory that the monster itself isn’t fake, but rather the inner mech just controls it by its nerves and essentially puppets it, hence why there’s still the Lavos spawn
So what if Lavos is actually parasitizing the creature, that makes the shell and he is a hyperparasite. Like his species evolved to take over the bodies of those things, because it was a good survival tactic to travel through space? So that creature also lays its offspring, but the parasite already places his egg inside, so the spawn get infected right away. Over time such bonds might result in both creatures not being able to survive without each other like a portuguese man o war
I just tried the Crono solo end for the first time ever and was on my way to what seemed like a convincing win. I have been playing this game for 25 years and I swear to god, its the first time Lavos core has ever bitch slapped me. I had never seen that before I was a little stunned. Before I could elixir, he did it twice and I was dead. lv2 52, with stars on spd and mg def. also the haste helm. I was getting 5-6 x confused before taking a hit....those flipper slaps though....damn
You have no idea how badly I want them to do a Chrono Trigger raid series in FFXIV and have our Warriors of Light fighting these forms of Lavos as the finale to that... they JUST did an FF4 Zeromus fight too with the latest patch 6.5 complete with remixes so it gives me hope because that was on the Anthologies PS1 Disc with Chrono Trigger as well if anyone remembers that
@@joaovitorxn Crono, Marle, Magus. Use items to reduce MP consumption and damage increase. Ice Sword 2 will one shot the left pod. Confuse will also if you have Crono Prism'd out. Then pound with Ice Sword 2 and Dark Matter.
the lavos pliot reminds me of the QU from all tomorrows those little things that fly beside him those are his bio weapons he uses for combat just like the space alien dragonflies the QU do
If you substituted the three heroes with Amy Rose, Shadow, and Sonic... ...then Lavos with Black Doom... ...you'd have yourself the climax to #SonicMovie3! =D
I hate that boss right now, mostly because it takes so long. I had beat it the first time with Chrono Ayla and whatever the mechanic girls name was. The second time I beat him with the princess and Chrono. The third time I lost against him with Frog, the princess and Robo The fouth time I lost against him with Frog, the princess and the new game plus Ayla for whatever reason. Not sure if they say something that interessting but I thought it couldn't be difficult this time. I think the weakest was the left part, the most HP had the right part and every part could reanimate the lost parts right?
Thanks but I don't know if I should be congratulated on this since his first and third forms didn't manage to attack once.Either Lavos' 3rd form is a complete pushover or I was too overpowered. If lvl 62 is too high then it's the latter. I also don't remember having trouble with him on the SNES version either.
Well then I hope the Dream Devourer puts up more of a challenge. I didn't beat that one yet recently since I got other stuff to do before I attempt a NG+ and actually get it done with. To be honest there are harder fights than either of Lavos' forms if I remember well the skeleton boss from Fiona's quest always gave me trouble.
Casian Lionheart The skeleton boss didn't gave me much trouble. For me the hardest boss I fought was the Twin Golems. They was so fast, my characters kept on getting killed.
The game: "no, stop using that attack! Destroy the left one first! The right pod is actually his true core, it's the one you have to defeat in order to kill him!" Me with magus in the party: haha dark matter go brrr
I wish to ask what lvl you chareters are you made something looks easy...then again I remember my first time through and walking into that battle way before I needed to 1 hit and the party was dead lmao so I went and grinded another 20 lvls and tried again with improved success I love this game
