I think my Lakers made the biggest mistake of letting Frank Vogel go.

Vogel is a great defensive coach with a purely offensive roster, he deserves better. Meanwhile, Ham is just an ordinary civilian with a front row seat.

Chuck’s just tired of these former players in media who want to be buddy-buddy with current players for access, and so they blame everything on coaches. Also Phoenix and the Lakers are Exhibit A and Exhibit B of why you don’t let star players build your roster for you.

I still think Monty Williams should have never been let go. He brought the Suns to the Finals for the first time in nearly 30 years and they were up 2-0 against the Bucks before blowing it all to Milwaukee. The Suns then made it to the second round of the playoffs the next two years in a row. Yeah, no championships were won under Monty Williams but the Suns never got swept during his time as head coach nor did they have a first round playoff exit.

Vogel is good, has problems on offense sometimes but defensive schemes are great. Ham no. Ham needs to start with a young team with no expectations to get the experience and build himself up. Happy for him to be a coach in the league but not one for a team with championship aspirations at this stage of his career

Frank Vogel actually wanted input on his roster management. GM said no. Suns failed because there was no balance. just big names. its not on Vogel Ham lost his locker room way before the playoffs

Ham isn’t on the court bricking wide open game winners. He can only do so much as a coach.

Vogel is a championship coach known for his defense. Ham doesn't even know when to use a time out for a challenge. He often wouldn't even use his coaches challenge. I don't think the players ever bought into his coaching.

The thing I keep hearing about Vogel that's messed up is he's never been his teams 1st option as coach. Outside of indy, he's always been the second or third option on the board for coach. He'll, Darvin ham wasn't even the lakers 1st option, they wanted quin Snyder at first

Chuck is 100% about Vogel, he’s 50% right about Ham, yes my lakers roster sucks defensively because we have up KCP to the wizards, let Caruso walk to Chicago and didn’t try to replace Dwight and Javale he is right about that, but Darvin Ham is not a good coach, he’s not a good strategist he doesn’t handle minute management and rotations well, he’s having Taurean Prince who’s an ok 3&d player playing more minutes than he should and utilizing him wrong and don’t get me started on how he just lets D’Lo go play rec style ball and chuck up shots it was irritating to watch. A guy like Max Christie should’ve been playing more this series against Denver

The Suns were badpy put together or Beal didnt deliver but people said at the start of the season that they had gutted their bench. Malone said he had adjustments for the Lakers he never had to use... So basically Ham was not making any adjustments. Thats not great.

After winning the In-Season tournament, LA was in a funk for a while before eventually turning things around and making the Playoffs Ham is a very good young coach but he's not equipped yet to lead LA to the promise land. Totally agree with Charles Barkley though. What about also moving on from Pelinka? he ultimately called the shots for Westbrook's sign-in, Caruso's departure etc. As crazy as this is going to sound, I think coach Ham should have been let go or relegated to Assistant Coach earlier right when Ime Udoka was up for grabs on the market Udoka would have been a hell of pick-up for LA to bring in the kind of continuity and head coaching we need to succeed over the long-run
