He takes it personal because he got robbed one year. They gave it to Nash and to me that was the biggest NBA MVP blunder in history. If you go look at their stats you'll see why he's still bitter about that
Thats probably why he's annoyed because Jokic doesn't care about MVP at all. It doesn't really mean anything to him. Shaq wants it to go to someone who would appreciate it more but whatever
@@ImTheRealDeal Look at the stats? Joker's stats are gaudy as hell, he again almost averaged a triple double while being super efficient. Who gives a damn if he's not first in a category, that's not a requirement.
Shaq’s logic: “Jokic should not win MVP because I was robbed of an MVP nearly 20 years ago.” Shaq’s argument is flawless and he’s totally not biased in a strange and unrelated way.
Well to be fair it's preposterous that him and Kobe only have 1 MVP a piece, Duncan only has 2 they all played 15+years and dominated joker only 9 years in with 3
@@KobaniacMindedI feel like that the voters aren’t allowing him to be treated like shaq or Duncan or Kobe was. They are rewarding him for being the best on the court when he plays any opposition.
SGA averaged 4 more points per game, but Joker averaged 3 more assists and 7 more rebounds with a higher FG%. Same team record. Joker deserved it more and it's not even debatable.
Shai is a PG and a Center should not average 4 more assists per game and even eye test will tell you that Jokic is more a PG than Shai distributing the Rock.
@@stewpidasso3910Embiid had a slight edge over him last year, but Jokic definitely deserves this years. Also if Embiid wasn’t hurt, it would’ve still been be a race between him and Jokic again, not Shai. Some would put Luka or Giannis above Shai for how much he stat padded
Shai had a great year. He averaged 30/5/5. Jokic however practically averaged a trip double with 26/10/9. Shai is the type of guy taking 30 shots a game while Jokic will sacrifice the points to hit the open man. He’s just a more complete player. People hate on him because he isn’t flashy.
@Christopher-cg4gh cuz everyone is free to follow any religion or no religion. Just because you follow a religion, it means that everyone else will follow it. And vice-versa.
Shaq couldn’t make a free throw or score from more than three feet from the basket. The ‘Hack a Shaq” became a thing because he was a liability to his team in crunch time. He was born bigger and stronger than everyone else on the court at the time. Jokic, SGA and Luka all have 100 times the overall basketball skill Shaq had.
Shoutout to Ernie for never being afraid to challenge any of his colleagues and in the most respectful manner, always sounds like a dad who's had enough. 😂
I agree and Joker is a really cool guy and I would’ve went SAG but let me tell you they’re all three fantastic players and the one thing that does bother me about the European guys specially joker can you at least you and Luca get in the gym do tricep dips curls and really transform your body into something other than flabby arms I mean, just not an ounce of muscle town Maybe throw off there a little I don’t know but man you talk about not an ounce Of muscle tone
The fact that Shaq didn’t make an argument for Luka who had more ppg than Shai but used scoring as an argument in Shai’s favor over Jokic, tells me all I need to know🤣🤣🤣
Shaw knows more about the game then plenty of us combined. But I'm convinced he puts zero effort into any of his opinions. We know he ain't looking things up, and I think he doesn't even try to articulate what he means. It's just default "I have rings" "Be dominant" "steve nash".Didn't even have a rebuttal for when Ernie told him the records were the same it was a divisional tie breaker.
In what planet ever, is Steve Nash more valuable then Shaguille Oneal? Listen lets stop the bullshit, some sports writers are overt with their agendas. Jokic 3 time MVP? Really, Giannis is the best player in this league, Embiid when healthy is probably most dominant. Joker is right there in the arguments. The year Embiid won Jokic probably should have won. But they robbed Embiid two years prior and felt they had to make it up. Jokic plays no defense and is slow of foot. He probably is a 2 time winner. 26 point average is not MVP caliber to me. And I will tell you this, the guy in Dallas is probably next up for this MVP and I am not talking about Irving.
Shaq sounded like a whiney little girl who didn't get invited to homecoming. His criteria is, 'Well, I think I got screwed and so he should too'. His entire argument blew up in his face when the stats he was claiming simply weren't there. Nothing was there.
Giannis had 1 vote. Somebody with real voting credentials actually voted for Giannis. The fact that Jokic won by such a landslide is interesting though
@eddyrivera7287 he had to fight for that one, and only really got it bc social media was calling out the voters for it. he should've won a couple times before that.
Yep. He is doom and gloom and negative and ego drive. Dirk was so pleasant to have on for a day and there are many other players who could fit in and do a better job.
@MJ-uf9tl That's an ingorant opinion as it lacks both knowledge and information. Maybe educate yourself about the man and what's he's gone through in recent years, and maybe you'd understand. Maybe you'll learn about all the good he does outside this show. I'm not saying he's perfect, I'm not even saying he's not doomy and gloomy, I'm saying there are reasons for it, and there are reasons he's on this panel. These 4 are iconic together and any friend worth a damn is there for the good and bad. I would also say in this clip he's abnormally bitter, I wouldn't say this clip if a fair representation of shaq on average.
@@drdre4397This isn't him being abnormally bitter. This is his usual self. I don't really give a flying flip what he does outside the show. Shaq has a history of crapping on people who threaten his ego in any sort of way. He disrespects anyone who doesn't meet his ephemeral constantly moving goal posts or what he likes. You are the one that comes off as ignorant trying to act like this is odd. Shaq loves to rain on people's parades.
@@kyletucker3811Totally agree with you and I understand people change as well, but some of the stories I've heard of the things he did to his teammates when he was in the league made me actually dislike him a lot.
@@kyletucker3811The story that he literally told of himself putting a teammates mouth guard by his junk for a whole practice, then putting it back in his locker for him to later put it in his mouth told me what kind of guy he really is. That's not even a prank, just straight up cold and disgusting.
@alfredwu8291 he wasn't the best, but he was the reason the sun's were as good as they were. He elevated everyone else while being efficient. Shaq was barely averaging a double double for the heat those years. D-wade averaged more points than shaq in 05 and 06. Wasn't even the best player on his team, let alone MVP.
I agree with you. I will say, Shaq is correct that people change their criteria for MVP every year depending on who they want to win. But he's not even smart enough to offer a standardized, objective criteria to go by lol petty!
Shaq wanted Jokic to win last year and said he's by far the best big man in the league, has nothing to do with bro being white people just wanna make it about that lmao
Even for the regular season it has to hurt lol. Some dude averaging 19 and 11 assists meanwhile you're dominating everything or in Kobe's case averaging the highest points ever outside of Wilt when accounting for pace
@@lRockyI doesn't matter its the regular season award... and at the time the best player on kobe team was smush parker with a whopping 12 ppg the fact that he made the playoff was somewhat impressive.
It's true that Shaq only won 1 MVP award, but he holds the individual record for the most weight gain in the off season and that no one should be able to take from him.
@@roccoallabach1808 Dude missed 18 games and racists were whining about Jokic dominating "a black man's game". Predictably, Embiid whimpered out of the playoffs in a game 7. Yes, he got that mvp out of pity, racism and jealousy.
Because no one mentions the pity MVP jokic has gotten. When the playoffs came around, the real MVP is shown. Jokic has choked in the playoffs every year other than 2023.
If you look at the stats it makes sense that Nash won MVP in 05/06. So does Jokic over SGA, which according to the stat line is the blatantly obvious choice.
@@lj_heppI don't think shaq deserved the mvp over nash but shaq made a very good point about SGA. Shai's stats were just as good as jokic this season and his team was the first seed. By that measure I don't see why it shouldn't be Shai. D rose won mvp over lebron mostly due to his team being the first seed did he not?
@@grizzlymac-tight but they really weren’t, Jokic averaged four less pts but significantly had sga in boards and beat him in assists. He about averaged a triple double. The only player who may deserve it over Jokic was honestly Luca. Averaged 7/8 more pts per game, a few less boards, and same assists. Deciding factor was overall team record.
@@grizzlymac-tight Look at shooting percentage. Efficiency is what makes you valuable. Missed shots are equal to a turnover, just a lost possession. Jokic only 4 point less per game but better shooting percentage, then he gets rebounds like crazy, and assists. That "first seed" thing is insignificant since they had the same record.
That’s a fact! I always say this and I wonder if I’m crazy. It’s like because he’s Shaq, he feels he can just show up. His analysis is always some generic “he has to do more” statement… Very uninformed!
Shaq’s complaint is that SGA was a better stat stuffer? If that’s your criteria he should be making the argument for Luka? Luka’s stats this year in Points, Rebounds, and Assists were one of the greatest seasons in NBA history.
Luka has 51 points /rebounds / assists together. Jokic has 48 together. But Jokic has much more wins, everything more and better 30 stuff except points and 3 pts fg But he was better than Shai. Luka was real second place
They really shouldve shown his TOTAL stat rankings. He was 5th in points, 2nd in assists, and 3rd in rebounds. Thats unreal. This PPG system really doesnt favor the superstars that play every game. Jokic does everything EVERY GAME. No rest, no injury, and no unnecessary time off.
Imagine winning prom queen and then 10 years later, you're 28 years old, your old high school announces their prom queen, and you have to take your ass down to prom to say she didn't deserve it and go on about how you were the best prom queen. That's what Shaq did. First team all sensitive.
hes just applying the same logic as to why embiid won last year over joker. shaq is kinda the fool on this one but i do see where hes coming from. shai basically did what embiid did last year only he scored 2 less points per game or something (but he also played in 11 more games so yea)

@@FrancescoGiocoli-j6r Den & OKC have exactly the same record (Boston has the best record), Denver without Jokic are probably not making the playoffs, he leads the league in + minus and efficiency. SGA is great on a good young team. Jokic is in the middle of his career, comparing to Bird/Magic who have completed is pointless. More MVPs doesn't make you the best player: Kobe won only 1, doesn't make him a worse player than Gianni, Nash etc.
It’s who’s most valuable to their team… no one in this universe could have ever saw that OKC did… HE is the most valuable asset to a team right now because they’re NOT EXPECTED to be😂 what’s so difficult to understand ? 🤨

I’m honestly so sick of shaq. You can tell he doesn’t even watch most of games. Every point he made was incorrect. And of course he had to mention how he was robbed of MVP. How can you be that insecure when you’re a top ten player of all time.
Jokic is the kind of guy who would give Shaq his 3 MVP awards and say "have fun playing with those kid, I don't give a s*** about that, I'm here to play, win and go home, that's my job" 😂😂😂
SGA is the real MVP. Shaq was the only who isn't scared to speak his mind. Everybody else wanted to get paid by TNT so they're telling him to lay low. I hate these type of people because they're brainless sheep.
@@soji4477 SGA will give you points and steals but he’s mid in rebounds and assist. He had 8 doubles doubles and ZERO triple doubles. Id take LUKA over SGA, hell I’d even take ANT over SGA as individuals
Which stats is Shaq talking about? OKC had the same record as Denver Jokic had more assists than Shai More triple doubles. Only thing shai had ahead of him was 4 points per game, which get eclipsed by the number of assists Jokic had
@Josecalderonn What does it matter if OKC wasn't expected to win that many games? It's Most Valuable Player. Not Player That Exceeded Expectations The Most. The NBA should just kill off voting completely. Come up with a formula that determines the winner, input numbers into a computer that spits out a name and be done with it. Now everyone can stop crying about voting and cry about something else instead. Shaq may have been robbed of MVP multiple times but to still be crying over it is weird at this point. The whole NBA community looks weird over all this nonsense the past idk how many decades. Discourse is one thing but all this crying ... my goodness.
Shaq constantly putting his wounded ego on full display any time his "GOAT big man" legacy is in question is very gross. In the words of Michael Jordan, "Stop it. Get some help."
well, he said it 5 minutes earlier in the broadcast and made an impassioned argument about it It'd be a lie, if he said "I had you as my MVP" after saying he thought someone else deserverd it more
@@justanobody0 Shaq didn't need to say either. Jokic won, and the moment was about announcing that and congratulating him.. Wasn't the time or place to interject his personal pick. The whole thing showed no class and no maturity.
@@JeffreyOConnell-g4x if it's a personal axe to grind, then my question is how did Shaq react the other times Jokic won the MVP I saw another comment that said Shaq was really talking up Jokic last year (and they were surprized at the change)

They finished 7th in the west that year and lost to non other then phoenix in the first round. Finishing that low alone in the west back then automatically disqualifies him.

@@malcolmadair8373 Wemby is vastly BETTER on all levels than Bol Bol. Not even close. Shaq is jealous of other big men. He hated Dwight Howard ... hostile to Victor ... and now jealous of Jokic.
THIS. And people fail to grasp that being the most "valuable" doesn't mean you are necessarily the best. And the MVP could in theory be on a slightly above avg team. Basically, if you take the player away off the team, where is the team with the remaining guys??? That is what we have to be asking. Are your stats through the roof cuz you have 4 other superstars around you? Or are they through the roof and you have lesser stars around?
That shade he threw at Mike Miller (in jest ofc) suggests otherwise. Yoke cares, he just doesnt want to make it just about MVPs or basketball. Nor should he. But better believe you're not in the conversation for 4 MVPs without being EXTREMELY competitive.
When Kenny says "Jokic is arguably the best center in this millenial (sic) right now", Shaq's head almost exploded. Look at his face when they pan out. You feel the smoke coming out of his ears through the screen.
