How when we see things like it all the time? It's never been about Denver beating the Lakers, but more so why the Lakers lost. The fact the media hyped them up daily, when they never had a chance is proof of that. He isn't saying something just made up. Mike Malone even said it himself.

He’s saying that the best player(s) to come out of the ECF will be the face of the league, no matter if they win or lose the finals. The eastern conference champ will outshine the finals winner, should they lose in the finals. It’s a strange take but I think that’s what he means.
The NBA NEEDED Magic and Bird because it was a dying sport. When MJ became the face of the league it was important because he grew the sport and made it global. There doesn’t need to be a “face of the league” anymore.. it’s already a global sport. Look at the top 15 players, so many of them are from different countries. Chill out with this face of the league bs and just enjoy the young stars we have going up against each other.

You don’t become the face of the NBA by just winning one chip. They all need more accomplishments. Anthony Edwards needs to start winning something and solidify his legacy. In the past, I thought the face of the NBA means that it's all about the best player in the league primarily. But now, my perception has changed. So now, I think the face of the NBA is the one who is popular. Which means for me, LeBron and Steph are still the faces of the league as long as they were still playing. And when they leave, I think it's Wemby who will replace those guys.

Anthony Edwards has won 2 total playoff series in 4 years and literally just made his first All NBA Team . I like him, but "Face of the League" is GLAZE for a 2nd Team nod and a trip to the conference finals.

Not really, Boston has had the easiest road to the finals since the Bucks in 2021. And on top of that, they have a super team even though Tatum refuses to accept it...That's why Kenny said what he said.
