I'm 76 yrs. old. I just started cigars & I enjoy them. I watch you and two others. There are a lot of crap videos on UTube I've found out. I now choose carefully. I live in the Dayton, OH area and have found a great lounge, B&G. Great group of guys.

I didn't start smoking premium cigars until my 54th birthday. I don't recall exactly what it was but it was a $20 Arturo Fuente. Amazing! I've been hooked ever since. I typically buy something different every time and I'll look for some WarFighter's. Thanks to Tim and a couple others for the beginner tips. Helped me out a lot.

Personally I wish I would've just invested in 1 good cutter, 1 good lighter, and a simple tupperdor. Set yourself up for success and don't be afraid to ask "rookie" questions! It'll only make your cigar smoking experiences that much better.
@HALO-2304
@HALO-2304 9 месяцев назад
I can see the merit in buying an inexpensive cutter and lighter first because it allows you to see if you like smoking cigars without investing a lot of money into it. If it is and the cheap cutter/lighter crap out, then invest in quality.

Still not of age to buy them yet (1 year!) but I have smoked cigars before and I related to this so much. Just being young and dumb with friends but the second time I ever smoked a cigar it was a my father. (I believe it was the judge) my grandfather had quite a collection and decided that for my twentieth birthday he’d smoke a cigar with me, he taught me a lot about cigars as well. I believe that what my grandfather did without knowledge was start me on a hobby that I’ll have the rest of my life, when I’m able to buy them of course😄👍!

My first cigar was Perdomo 10th Anniv Champagne 16 days ago, followed by a Macanudo gold label the following day. They were both very good. Smoked a Flor de las Antillas 2 days ago which was amazing. Many thanks to Cigars Daily and cigar youtube for sharing their valuable experience. So far, the cigar experience has been great.

My first was some random cigar I smoked in the rain at 18 but just recently at 25 I bought a perdomo maduro 20th anniversary . It was actually enjoyable for me and I just picked up 3 flor de san andres cigars . The 1st flor was nice but the perdomo was better in my opinion. Both just a few days ago. Good to see a fellow beginner and similar first cigars lol

From a non-cig smoker starting to smoke cigars at mid 30s, for me i wish i started with smaller ring guage as it allows more time between puff, less relight issues etc. I easily got sick towards the end of smoking robusto size or more. Maybe the body havent adjusted to nicotine yet. Plus smaller ring guage allows me to enjoy the flavour more without worry about getting sick later on
@CigarsDaily
@CigarsDaily 10 месяцев назад
Yeah, and there’s something about smaller ring gauges that seems to make the flavor a little brighter and clearer too.

Love Jon and the Warfighter crew. Solid group of guys. My first cigar was I believe an Acid Kuba Kuba. For starting out I would say it's a good cigar. If someone is trying to make their way into it it's not bad. It has the unnatural flavors, or sweet as you would, which can bring someone in and then they can transition to natural notes and really appreciate the way a cigar is meant to be. I personally can't pick a favorite cigar from Warfighter. I enjoy everything from their Connecticut shade w/ a good cup of coffee in the morning all the way to oscuro maduro w/ a good bourbon or rum. The amount of change in notes from each cigar w/ changes to what you are drinking can be pretty crazy.

Smoked my first cigar a couple weeks ago and even after watching like 3 videos on cutting and lighting I still messed up when i went to do it 😂 had to hold the wrapper together while i smoked it. Used a razor blade to cut my most recent cigar and id definitely recommend that as a cheap, effective solution for beginners with cutting.

My first cigar was a $10 Cuba Libre, in late 2000 maybe early 2001. I was 25, and I've loved cigars ever since. One mistake I made early on was _not_ making sure I was always in a well-ventilated space. I was at a party, and several of us stepped out to smoke together. Our buddy had recently brought back a bunch of those same Cuba Libre cigars from a Caribbean cruise. Well, when a dozen people smoke together in the mud room...and forget to open a door or window...even when you're not inhaling, you're hot-boxing _everyone's_ second hand smoke! I ended up nauseated _almost_ to the point of puking, and one of my buddies looked at me...wide-eyed...and said, "Dude, you're green! I thought that only happened in cartoons!"

I had my first cigarette at 12, usually bumbing them from my older cousins. When I turned 18, there was a local news store/ cigar lounge where I got my first cigar, Hoya de Monterrey Excalibur, and my first Playboy. My proverbial right of passage to manhood. Lol. There, for quite some time, I smoked both cigarettes and cigars. I'm 38, now been cigarette free for 9 years. Love my cigars, still thought!

Same here. I had to try smoking but I didn't want to try anything that can mess up with my athleticism or my brain. So cigarette or the green plant were atta the option. And I'm not dumb enough to dabble into any of the psychogenic and psychedelic drugs so I chose cigar which still isn't good for you, but does not mess up my lungs nor my brain. Currently enjoying a 20 cigarillo pack from Davidoff. I might try something else once I'm done with the pack. Just learned too moist cigar is not as enjoible as too dry cigar. Had a cigarillo today half of which were too moist and felt spungy, and the rest of which was just the right amount of humidity. Lit the "just enough humidity" side and was enjoying the flavor, but it turned into bitter and burned flavor with no rich tobacco flavor when it got to the "too moist and spungy" side. I would rather have my cigars too dry than too moist from now on.

I’m sure a cigar factory owner would be better suited to answer this than me. But I typicllay think it’s a sign that the filler and binder were well rolled. However, ‘ash behavior’ (for lack of a better term) is oddly diverse from cigar to cigar.

This is going to sound like a stupid question, but I only taste the cigar when exhaling. Is this normal? Shouldn't I taste it when I'm drawing as well? I've never smoked cigarettes, nor pot, and started with cigars less than a year ago. I've stuck mainly to 5-10 dollar range, but dipped into the 20's a couple times, and didn't find much difference, apart from the construction and how evenly they burned. Them being kept in a humidor and properly cared for seemed to make a bigger difference than their actual quality.

Do NOT buy these cigars! The first time I heard of them was through Tim. I bought every type they made (through their own company, not through a distributor) and every single one was a massive disappointment. The common flavor with each cigar is ash tray. I'm not some competition or a cigar snob. I'm always down for a bargain gem, sadly these are not it. A much better alternative WAS master blend 3 from Oliva but they've gone up in price everywhere, now I would point you to Oliva Free Will (band has the 3%er patriot spartan face), the Cohiba red dot, or the Perdomo lot 23.
