Got tired of your emails and always get an Out of Stock notice. If you don't have the possibility or money to a professional production line, go boder or do something else!!
Had a lot of respect for Caleb until he accused Rigid Pro for copying the Cineback. Rigid Pro was in the market first. I mean come on man.. Smallrig doesn't sue or make a big deal when Neweer or Tilta makes camera cages. A Cineback + XLR sets you back $600+, a Rigid Pro XLR hand is at $300+. Is the extra weight and $300 worth it? It all depends on the user since everybody rigs their setup differently. IMO, if you're gonna go the rig route, just get a FX6. You have less to think about, less variables to fail or parts to forget at home. The cost is the same, if not.. cheaper
Exactly my thoughts. I used to have a BMPCC with all kinds of cables for XLR and V-mount, my setup looked like a robocop x inspector gadget. So I sold it all and bought a FX6. If you are going to use your FX3 like that, indeed, why didn't you go for a FX6?
Great looking product. Will have to pick up a couple. Please, Please, Please for version 2 if you ever come out with an improved version, use twist D-tap plugs so we have the option of which way the cords go.
Thanks for this, just wondering why the xlr handle extension kit is almost the same price as the base cineback? Seems like a less complicated part. Is there a way to purchase just the cineback and xlr module together without the original top cheese plate?
Looks incredible. Would love to see a 3d printed/plastic/cncd piece/door that covers the FX3/FX30 battery hatch in some way. with a slot for the outgoing cable ofc. Maybe something for the future updates?
That's the only thing I am tripped out on! I don't wanna take my battery door off and the exposure worries me for run and gun. Either way still so cool he made these!
anyone know of a decent and safe way to use D-tap to USB-C to power the camera/other accessories? Id rather use Power Delivery to the battery when possible, and my monitor is also USB C powerable
Absolutely amazing. Quick question. How long would it take to remove the camera from the larger back cage part for the smallrig cage? Just three screw right? It would be nice how long out would take to go from this to say the camera on a gimbal :)
Had the same thought. But i think it was done in this way so as not to hinder the hand when accessing the functionalities via the wheel. Another solution would have been to set vertical connectors but it would not be possible to set as many (also cables would run over the next connector).
@@marcr4349rigid pro gives a little more room from the d tap connectors to the camera, there's a bit more of a gap there. The cineback is designed to be a little more compact so it doesn't have that gap, d tap connectors facing the opposite direction prevents wire clutter bunching up against the back of the camera where the buttons are. But that's a good point, something customers should be aware of. I don't think it would bother me, though.
Got the full setup with the XLR handle extension and I'm loving it! Used it on 4 shoots this week and it operates so nicely. So easy to install. I thought my FX3 was good before but this makes it so much better to use.
I've already bought v-mount plates + cables for PD and I'm not a huge fan of adding so much bulk to my rig, but it sure is nice to have the handle connect in two places. I would buy a couple for my cameras, but $300+ is pretty far out. I would think $150-200 would still be very profitable and you'd sell twice as many. I guess it's a niche product for people who want the 'box' camera look.
It's nice but the reason I bought the FX6 is that I wanted to be done with the robocop add-ons on my BMPCC. An FX3 is good for a gymbal, but if you are robocopping it into a cine-body you might as well buy a FX6. Way more neat to have that bigger body with XLR, with a big battery, without all the little cables and adapters. I had to do some interviews for a political party and one mini XLR to XLR cable on my setup was defect. I thought, enough is enough, sell it all, buy a nice FX6.
Maybe this is just me, but if there is no pass through on the battery door for the dummy battery to work properly with the door closed... It just kind of feels like it we aren't supposed to be powering the camera that way. Sony's own literature states it should be powered by USB-C if you want to power it externally that way. It's kind of crazy to me that people will spend thousands of dollars on their equipment and just ignore the power warnings.
So I can't use my XLR Handle with this Unless I also buy an XLR handle extension kit as well? My unit is literally on the way. iF that is the case I'll be sending it back for a refund.
Finally, after months of waiting I was able to order cineback+xlr extension kit. And happy that I didn’t go with RigidPro which “ripped” or “took inspiration” from original cineback. I wanted to buy Ulanzi cooling fan for summer days, I know that both FX3/30 won’t overheat, but I love when my camera runs cooler. Would there be enough space to place Ulanzi fan? Thanks in advance
I hope this product can become more accesible and acquirable in the near future, I waited patiently and long for the next batch to be released, subscribed to the mailing and alerts, woke up early to get an order in, just to get kicked out with no more stock just as I was finishing the shipping details, it's a bit infuriating and definitely heartbreaking that the purchase becomes a race to whoever can input "order" first, rather than those who´'ve been following patiently since the start. Despite everything, hopefully SmallRig or some other accesories company can do a collab and produce these things at a better rate. Sadly I have honestly given up on trying to get one of these in the near future. Hopefully restocks come sooner than later at much larger rates....
Hey I have been trying to purchase the cineback for my fx30 for the past two weeks and have been up at 6am eastern but the ordering page is never changes from out of stock. Is there a certain way I have to order it or from a specific place? It's 7:05am est which is 11am GMT -4 when the status page states it would be available.
Today they were supposed to go live with another batch....not even 10 seconds in from when it was released as I was putting in my information it was sold out...wtf are we supposed to do with that? How many do yall make per batch? Like 2???
Man you are a genius!!!! you and all the people who made this possible! It's easy to see that you put so much passion into this proyect! I have an FX30, my first "Cinema" camera, now I feel like I'm entering this world of filmmaking, and you guys make this dream seem more attainable. ❤🎥
Mine just arrived and got it installed in no time thanks to this helpful video! I'm also happy to report that it seems to be fully compatible with the Sirui Full Camera Cage for Sony FX3 & FX30 as long as you use the included spacers. Thanks, Caleb!
