Sorry to have many questions, I got all the parts but the monitor, I'm trying to get the following Portkeys PT6 Camera Field Monitor 5.2" 600nit but I see the output is 1080/60 HDMI and not 4K/30 as the one you listed. Should I be concerned by the output? The PT6 seems to be a better version of the PT5. Please let me know thanks.
@VisionaryFilmStudios
@VisionaryFilmStudios Месяц назад
Hey Daniel! Love the questions! No need to apologize. I’ve had it on my list all last week to look into this but things were pretty intense, so I’m just getting back now sorry about that. So either monitor should treat you well. The PT6 hadn’t been released yet when I first got the PT5, which is why I don’t mention it in any of my videos. But since neither do external recording and are just for monitoring the footage & applying luts if desired, the difference between a 4k display and 1080 display really shouldn’t make a huge impact on anything. Unless you’re passing the signal through the monitor to another recorder, in which case I *think that you will still be fine either way as the fine print of the PT6 that I’m seeing does say it supports 4k input as well as 1080. If you buy on Amazon, you could always give it a test and send it back if you aren’t happy 😊 hope this helps!

Yeah you’ve got to get the battery plate and connect them via usbc. They won’t go directly into the camera.

what's the weight and can you still mount to a tripod? would you recommend rigging up a light option?
@VisionaryFilmStudios
@VisionaryFilmStudios 5 месяцев назад
Great question. I don’t have an exact weight but I’d say somewhere close to 5lbs (depending on the lens). I haven’t had any trouble with using it on my cheaper tripods. The ZV-e10 itself is pretty light already so unless you’re super conscious of size / weight, I personally wouldn’t be too concerned about rigging a lighter option than this. This one is definitely the lightest camera rig I own.
@Steve_MP5
@Steve_MP5 5 месяцев назад
Well I was mainly asking about weight for use with a monopod. I’m assuming something like the ifootage cobra 3 wouldn’t have an issue. I was seeing cheaper ones collapsing under weight.
@Steve_MP5
@Steve_MP5 5 месяцев назад
When I said “light option” I meant attaching an actual light to the cage lol
@VisionaryFilmStudios
@VisionaryFilmStudios 5 месяцев назад
@@Steve_MP5 Light option lol my bad- yeah I'm not a huge fan of attaching a light to a camera rig. I know some people who do and I suppose it can make sense at times, but 100% of the time the footage will look better if the light is positioned to the side and isn't so fronal. I'm not really a monopod guy myself, but I do really like the Onnorel VM70CK. It's the main one I use when I do break one out and it's held my ~20lbs a7siii rig no problem on numerous occasions. About a $150 pod. I also use some tripods that convert to monopods (I'll drop a link below) that's held this ZV-e10 rig with no problems in the monopod configuration. If you got something super cheap maybe it wouldn't hold, but the ~5lbs range I think you can definitely find some good affordable options that will hold up under the weight. Great video! Can you attach this rig to a scorp mini gimbal?
@VisionaryFilmStudios
@VisionaryFilmStudios Месяц назад
You probably could leave the cage on it, but I doubt that the scorp could handle the whole rig. It’s a bit big even for my RS2 with all the rigging on it. But the scorp can definitely handle the e10 with just the cage.

@VisionaryFilmStudios
@VisionaryFilmStudios 6 месяцев назад
Definitely need some sort of stabilization when shooting with this camera- handholding isn’t really a viable option for it. Generally I keep it on a tripod, monopod, or spider. This rig works great with any of those methods 😉 Unless you’re using a bigger gimbal like a ronin or something, you probably won’t be able to use a gimbal with this setup though. For sure going to be too big for a crane m3 or rs3 to handle.

@@JoshTisdale I would definitely get the ZV-e10 with the kit lens and the sigma 30mm f1.4- that should be right about at your target budget. If you could swing a good tripod too I'd definitely recommend that as well. That set up will treat you VERY well for a VERY long time and you can shoot some really professional stuff with that. I'll drop a link to a short film I made recently- imo you absolutely cannot tell it was shot on a sub 1k camera. My Story Short Film: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-O_ahHFXwkVk.htmlfeature=shared I also made a video not too long ago comparing my ZV-e10 to my a7Siii. The TDLR version- the ZV-e10 is just as good. I'd definately wouldn't buy a camera more expensive than the e10 for your situation. Here's a link to that video as well if you're interested: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-oJjqks1JP7Y.htmlfeature=shared

@@JoshTisdale I've had some other interest on a video about shooting a commercial on the ZV-e10 as well so I'll see what I can do. That's a bit more of a project than shooting bts for the short film was as I've got to convince one of my clients to let me make a bts video for their commercial. In the meantime though feel free to drop any specific questions and I'll do my best to answer 😉

Nice looking rig…it’s largely function over form. But once you said you’re filming this video on the A7SIII nothing else matters. The ZV-E10 covers a lot of ground in a manner of speaking, but if the A7SIII ever becomes semi-affordable for non-filmmakers, I won’t need another camera. Peace.
@VisionaryFilmStudios
@VisionaryFilmStudios 6 месяцев назад
Hey thanks for the perspective! I’m not 100% sure I followed your point about the a7Siii though, would you mind clarifying? The a7Siii is definitely a better camera from a technical perspective. But honestly, if I were going to buy all of my equipment again I 100% would not buy the a7Siii. And I’m saying that as someone who makes a living shooting films and commercials. With the currently released Sony cameras in mind, I’d get the a6700 and 2 ZV-e10s (maybe just 3 6700s for the 10-bit color to make matching easier). And if I could get the full price I paid for the Siii now I’d sell it in a heartbeat. I’m actually working on a video right now talking about all that and comparing the ZVe10 to the a7Siii. Planning to publish it next week.
