I have been using this new Metabo KX18 LTX 66 BL 18v Plunge cut circular saw for a few months now and I am really enjoying the additional blade depth over my festool TS 55, if you have followed me for a while you will know I really like my festool and I have tried all types of Plunge/rail saws in the past couple of years, indeed you may have seen the reviews that roger and I carried out over on @SkillBuilder
The saw has performed well for me and the extractor is a nice tool too, I would like to be able to plug this into the mains and I believe that an adapter is possibly going to become available so that would be a great bonus as the machine is quite power hungry and even with the two ten AH batteries you can soon use up the power!!
I would like to thank the guys at Metabo for letting me try this and other tools

Metabo is a proper forward thinking company. A battery alliance with multiple brands is a genius idea and will free people to mix and match different brands of tools rather than be tied to a single one. There'll definitely be more of this going forward. And as for the vibration sensor start on the cordless extractor, again, the perfect solution for cross branded tool dust extraction. Brilliant. Cheers Robin.😎

Yet they recently parted their way with Tanos and started a new tool case system - metaBOX. These boxes looks nice but are no longer compatible with any other "standard" systainer, even their own metaLoc one :(

I do like that extractor! So far I only have one Metabo item, a TS254 table saw, and I'm very pleased with it. My extraction system is very Heath-Robinson, so it's good to see what's available, as I must do something to make it better. The vibration link is genius!

Still have a Metabo corded drill from 30 years ago. Bought because an even older Bosch didn't have reverse gear. I'd forgotten about it in a box in loft after going cordless for drills long ago. Works perfectly. They seemed to disappear for years.

Colin- You keep on parading kit that I'm already considering. Once you are mostly cordless, a corded tracksaw seems like a total pain in the bum. Find the saw, find an extension lead, try to find a socket....Is the Metabo compatible with Hikoki batteries? and how do you find the rail attachment thingy? I have a festool TS55, and lets face it, festool rail attachment is not up to most other manufacturers provision.

Have this saw bought it few weeks ago. Ditched the old festool ts75 and it's as every bit as good and better than the festool. Plenty of power and overall far nicer to use and hold and lighter even with the battery. Been cutting through mostly red deal and sheet material but can handle that stuff with ease. Cut through some 25mm white oak as well not a problem. Thought maybe with no riving knife it would get caught up but so far it has not but if I hear the blade or saw struggling I always adjust even with any track saw or in fact any saw I use. Overall very good saw happy with the purchase

If you are looking to buy into a platform of decent battery tools then initially the outlay is a bit heavy but when you then add bare tools into the collection the costs can be more palatable, there are some instances where no mains power tools are allowed to be used and this solution is perfect for that situation too, as professional tradesmen we do have to invest in the kit that we need to perform the jobs we get!! The cordless alliance system sounds perfect, but will the big manufacturers like festool, dewalt, Makita, Bosch or Milwaukee ever sign up? I'm still a fan of 110v tools, A good generator and extension lead will cost around £200, That will run every tool all day every day on £10 Of fuel, (charged to the job), or plugged in to the clients supply for free. Cordless tools have their place, but are too expensive. The speed and convenience is great for those who can afford them, but they are pricing the average tradesmen out of the market.
