Shooting Federal, Winchester, Olin, wolf, HERTERS, and some random shot shells. Reliability is getting much better the more I shoot. Seems anything 1200 FPS and up will cycle fine in the Shotgun
Hi everyone. I have this shotgun too. I'd like to mention to you that the barrel nut on these shotguns are usually loose and need tightening. I've watched a couple of your videos and If you've already mentioned this then please excuse me. It would appear (based off of many videos I've seen on YT) that the shotgun is heavily lubed for overseas shipping and one needs to dissemble, clean, reassemble and tighten said components of the shotgun before first shooting. There are several instructional videos on how to disassemble/reassemble the Boss-25 on YT. I didn't know any of this and I shot 20 rounds through mine and when cleaning it afterwards I was shocked at how loose the barrel nut was. I don't have an armorers wrench but I was able to use an AR15 castle nut spanner wrench ( in kind of a jury rig way) to tighten the barrel nut. I think the factory needs to address this looseness issue before shipping them out or there should be a leaflet in the box to instruct users to check this before shooting.
Mine was loose everywhere. I did-assembled, cleaned, lined, and assembled with decent torque before shooting mine. I had to tighten a few things up during shooting as well- chokes loosed first time out, and the barrel shroud /heat shield loosened up as well.
You’re 100% right, just bought one and everything inside was loose and dirty. Thank you for your advice bcuz I probably wouldn’t have pay attention to this 🇺🇸 ❤️
Good to see that it cycles fine when using the right ammo. All the ammo I got for mine both 00 buckshot and slugs are high brass and high speed. I haven’t shot mine yet but hopefully soon. Oh yeah..and FJB!!! 🇺🇸
Rule 1 with the boss 25. Got to break them in. Rule 2 as a military man use both eyes open when aiming down sight closing one eye literally will fuck up your line of fire. Trust me when I say get used to using both eyes better with a sight on but still practice makes perfect. Try both eyes and lmk how your accuracy change
Bro, just bought one, I need a good cleaning and lube video. I can clean my Glocks and revolvers, no, problem but I'm pretty much clueless with this shotgun. Any recommendations?
@@crankygunreviews Well, you look and sound like him, you have the same build, size and hand gestures while talking. Go watch a video of Jimmie (interview) you will see what I'm talking about. I knew you were not Jimmie, but the similarities are a lot.
someone recently did a video about these not being gassed properly. i dont remember the specifics but it was an easy fix. its only 1 sample but i believe after being adjusted it cycled the lower velocity shells fine.
It comes with two weights- one for light loads, one for hot loads. I’m running the lighter weight, and I’ve cleaned the gas ports out well since my last trip. I think it will be ok.
Haven’t had a chance to fire mine yet but have done some research on it , some say take the choke out to fire slugs ( on the fence about that one) Legacy says no slugs , others say use the four star mod. Cylinder, your video was very resourceful, thanks
You have to leave a choke in the barrel. If you take the choke out, you’ll rip the threads out of the barrel eventually. Use the cylinder bore “choke” for slugs. Cylinder bore is no choke- it’s basically a smooth bore barrel
Just got one this week the sites where finally put on right also the stock changed a little there is no longer the 2 screws holding the barrel cover on now there is just 1 little screw on top threw thre picattany rail which keeps it locked in place . Also the shape of the back of the hand guard changed slightly i thing the bolt was changed a little also i have not had 1 jam and i was useing low brass at under 1200 fps.for the very 1st 50 shells. since Taurus owns the company now they have made alot of upgrades to the boss 25 that was made in 2023
Mine ran decent with 1200 fps and up, but I had the light buffer in mine, so fast slugs and buck shot would make the bolt run faster than the mag spring could load the shell into the chamber and it would jam once in a while
It seems these Turkish shotguns are hit or miss. Some swear by them as a great budget friendly alternative to the high end Italian guns and some are best used as a club. I often hear there is this unwritten rule that if you want a reliable semiauto shotgun, you have to spend nearly $1000 or more. I'd like to hope that's not true as my budget is somewhat limited and I can't go spending 4 digits on a firearm on a whim. in terms of home defense shotguns, the Mossberg 940 Tactical and the Beretta A300 Patrol are in the $900 range which is still pricey but not as bad as $1500 on a Beretta 1301 or $2000 on a Benelli M4. Glad yours seems to be improving and that you bucked the trend of having to spend a small fortune for a semiauto shotgun.
@@Ieselectric There's a Scheels here in Omaha too and I've picked up three firearms from that store (My AR15 and two pump shotguns). I try to buy from the Mom and Pop stores where I can but sometimes it's just hard to beat the price that the big box stores can provide.
@@1977YakkoI’ve been to the scheels in Omaha, I remember seeing the citadel boss at that store as well. I bought mine with the American flag 🇺🇸 at a scheels in the twin cities Minnesota for a little over $400 with tax
@danieldelrancho5749 I think I paid $400 for mine or there about… I ended out selling mine, the recoil was more than I liked- and I shoot single shot shotguns all the time…
Mine only ever jammed with really hot ammo, when I had the light weight in it. I think the faster ammo will cause the bolt to outrun the magazine springs, and like buckshot or slugs with 1500-1600 fps are the only thing I ever had issues with. I could run federal birdshot (1200 fps) through mine without a hiccup
@@vanne4770 stick with Federal 1200 fps and up birdshot, and hood slugs and buckshot. With buckshot and slugs you may need to put the heavy buffer weight in- otherwise the bolt can outrun the mag spring and jam the rounds into the feed ramp. But again, give it a couple hundred rounds to break in. I could run the federal field and target loads (red shells) from Walmart 100% after mine was broken in
😭😭😂😂 TOOK MINE TO THE RANGE TODAY FOR THE FIRST TIME. IT BROKE AFTER 60 ROUNDS. 😭 MAN AM I DISAPPOINTED. THE RELOAD HANDLE IS JUST FLOPPY. IT WILL NOT STAY IN POSITION IF COCKED BACK ALL THE WAY. IT JUST FLOPS BACK AND FORTH. IT WILL STILL FIRE A ROUND. BUT IT WILL NOT CYCLE AT ALL.
@@crankygunreviews Here's the link to the video. It's only one video. I'm not looking to get famous on RU-vid. The video is for anyone who would like to see where the welds broke. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-QO4UPJkVf4U.html
What size(s) choke(s) do you recommend for a good tight 00 buckshot pattern and safely shooting slugs (without slug distortion or internal damage)? Thanks! Any problems using the Mod with muzzle brake for both applications??
I didn’t use the muzzle brake- and again I sold the gun so I cannot make recommendations on chokes any more. Generally slugs and buckshot you want very open chokes, cyl or imp cyl, mod at the most. Follow the manufacturers instructions!
Sorry, didn't realize I already asked you on another video - my apologies! And, I appreciate the advice! Unfortunately there is absolutely zero advice on the manual about this plus customer service emailed back that the Boss 25 is NOT rated/designed for slugs and that would cancel the warranty! WTF!
@@glebgofin their website only says don’t use slugs or single projectiles with full, modified, or improved modified chokes. www.legacysports.com/brands/citadel/citadel-shotguns-main-page/boss25/ If you get a cylinder or improved cylinder you should be fine. That’s pretty standard with most shotguns.
Actually i figured it out. My hand grip was screwed in to close to the bolt which was blocking the release. I used shorter screws. It was my blunder. Thanks anyway.
I assume it is no better than a regular shotgun with a slug... Effective? Maybe 100-125 yards if you can hit your target... I sold this beast, it was too heavy and unwieldy, and not reliable enough for me.
I COULDN'T HELP MYSELF AND SO I REMOVED THE BARREL SHROUD. AND FOUND THE WELDS WERE BROKEN. UNBELIEVABLE. SO I UPLOADED A VIDEO SO YOU ALL CAN SEE. I'M NOT A CONTENT CREATOR. I ONLY HAVE THIS ONE VIDEO UPLOADED. IT'S ABOUT 2 MINUTES LONG. AND I SHOW THE BROKEN WELDS.
You have to remove the barre shroud to clean it anyway. I had mine off several times, no broken welds. And I looked for your video, there’s nothing on your channel

do you mean the firing pin is hitting the primers on the shells but the shells are not going off? Is this with one brand of ammo or have you tried multiple brands of ammo?
@@crankygunreviews the firing pin hitting the primer and the shell not going off yes. And have tried with several different brands, tried 2 3/4 and 3” shells no luck. Have probably put about 200 shells through it and maybe 3% shot?
@@crankygunreviews not sure either. I was able to take it back to the shop I got it from, and they said they’ll take a look at it see what’s wrong and fix it. So that’s a bonus. Hopefully nothing entirely bad is wrong with it. Thank you for your feedback sir. Much appreciated. And looking forward to more content
@@RIP_LIPPIN That is some of the problems with these Turkish guns- They change company names, and model names and resell the same gun as something else, so we may never know what real issues they have. I have seen at least 10 different brands with just about the same shotgun, all Turkish, and all called something else. James Reeves from TFB TV has been testing turkish guns, and he sees the same thing. Different names, similar build, similar issues.
I got mine 2 weeks ago is there anything you can recommend before my 1st shoot? This is my 1st firearm and i would love it if i could keep it for life you know. So if anyone has any recommendations for me please comment on here
Wear a recoil pad. I traded mine in because I couldn't get used to the recoil, the gun was too heavy, and it was not as reliable as I would like. Try lots of ammo in it - you may find some it likes. Mine ran great on 1200 FPM Federal Field and range ammo. If you run slugs and buckshot, put the heavy buffer in. Check all the bolts and the barrel shroud religiously, mine loosened up everywhere every time I shot it
@@crankygunreviews ok so I will have to look up the buffer thing I'm not sure what that means but yes I would like to run slugs. And I'm going to try to take it down and clean it before I shoot as well. I keep hearing ppl say to put a different buffer in and when I seen you run this gun it made me very excited so I will def do as you say on this 1 that k you so very much sir
It should have come with a spare weight in the box- the heavier weight acts like a buffer to slow down the bolt with high velocity ammo. you have to pretty much strip the shotgun to change the weight though. If you use the light weight with the faster rounds, the bolt can outrun the magazine spring, and you will jam rounds into the action when they strip off the magazine. I have a few videos of this shotgun, you can see what I mena if you filter through them @@isiahsugar2650
@@RealPatrickBateman1 I started with buckshot and it didn’t run great. The federal ram great all the time so that’s what I used. I ended up selling because the gun was too heavy and the recoil was punishing, and it wasn’t reliable enough for me
god this thing jams literally every shot it seems like. first thing i thought was the ejector/extractor is total crap...which might be true. still, if this thing really jams that much, why the hell would anyone want it in the first place??? i seriously doubt someone is gonna use bird shot to take out a criminal busting into their house
1) you never know what a gun will cycle that’s why you test it in the first place 2) there is a break in period, and in that period you need to try different ammo 3) one gun to the next (especially with cheap guns) can run different, therefore you need to test lots of ammo 4) I am willing to bet thousands of people keep shotguns loaded with birdshot for home defense. This gun ran better with time, and with high velocity ammo it sometimes outran the magazine spring- you get two weights with the gun, and for high velocity ammo, you’re supposed to run the heavier weight. I did not. So the faster round would allow the bolt to go back, eject the shell, and start forward again faster then the magazine spring could push the next round up into the action- this would sometimes jam. It did get better with time, but I sold this thing because the recoil was brutal.
looks like a sweet shotgun i bought the ag12 from rock island its the defender model i plan on converting the tube to hold an extension but my god that thing in 3 inch is ouch to shoot
I bought one and my wife told me, why do you need a semi auto if you don't use it, I told her let's wait for someone to break to our home and you will see I will find use for it.
