Today we have in a poorly Citroen C3 with an airbag warning light illuminated on the display screen, with a fault code stored of B0001 - drivers airbag igniter circuit. Firstly this car had crash data stored in the ECU as it had been involved in a collision and was written off by the insurance company - Then it was purchased as a salvage repairable vehicle. The repair (Not carried out by us) was done to a pretty poor standard & sold on to an unwitting buyer - Who then took the car to his local garage that diagnosed the fault mainly being that the bodywork had been 'repaired' but crash data had not been cleared from the airbag ECU - we cleared the crash data from the ECU for our customer but there was still a B0001 fault code stored in the Airbag system which they were unable to diagnose & repair, so the car was booked into our workshop to see if we could fix it.
Firstly we found that the airbag connector had been broken but still had a fair connection to the airbag, so we proceeded in diagnose the actual cause of the problem using the Autel MS909 diagnostic scanner & a really useful tool for the workshop - 'SRS Assist' and a basic 'Continuity tester' the testing took around an hour (Including filming the process!)
