I didn't have the locking key so ordered one from ebay that looked like it fitted. It didnt quite but i hammered it on and got 3 nuts off. The other nut needed a T55 torx and an 8mm TCT drill bit, although others have had success with Cobalt drill bits as they are harder apparently.
A link to the tool, there are many sellers www.ebay.co.uk/sch/sis.html?_...

Firstly, I can't thank you enough for making this video! Clear and concise, all tools and sizes covered. In the end, I didn't use exactly the same method, but only because the cap never detached. Probably I did something wrong! But anyway, it might be useful for others to note that the cap part doesn't need to come off - just drill deep enough to bang in a 10mm star or torx 50 - I used one for each of the 2 nuts I needed to remove.

Thank you for this, my son had a blow out on his driving exam and due to the locking not being crap I needed to find a way to remove the bolt. Followed your method but the botch bits were rubbish so bought a 9mm dewalt cobalt bit from screwfix and it drilled it perfectly, the 8mm bit was too small for the t55 socket, the 9mm did the job perfectly with a 2kg lump hammer.

Another extremely effective way is to hammer down on the protruding section with a sharp punch, crack it in 2 (or sometimes 3) and hammer an 11mm 6-side socket over the head. Saves on the possible broken torx bit which provides it's own ball-aches. I've never been beaten by a set of locking nuts in my time so if anyone needs ideas on other brands, hit me up

Great video. I read the comments and just drilled into the first section where the locking nut ring is. 4mm then 8mm drill (Wickes std HSS drill set). The torx 50 inpact socket (Blue Spot - ex US Pro) spun in the end as the bolt was on very hard. So then hammered the 10mm star drive (US Pro standard - not impact) into the hole which gave a deeper engagement and did the trick

As below many many thx mate simple and 100% effective, no local garages would touch it, once I had right kit took about 30 minutes , result! All the best

Thanks so much, I used a T50 and 8mm, be careful not to snap the drill bit off in hole, which I did on my last one, luckily it was a smaller pilot drill which snapped deep down and I was able to drill the top bit about 4mm in with the 8mm and tap the torx in the top bit which didnt break off..Maybe try that first, ie just drill the top section about 4mm in with the 8mm and see if you can tap in the torx and undo it without breaking the top off...Thanks again, got quoted AU$150 to do the job by a pro...so saved me

Huge thank you. Managed to get 4 off today with a slightly bigger hex. Drill, hit and turn. Classic Peugeot.

Awesome! Pleased to hear it mate. I have since just used standard wheel nuts as my wheels are too scruffy to nick 👍

Bought the same Bosch drill bits and T55 torx head. From my own experience, all the drill bits I used all went blunt and didn't even manage to get to the inner part of the nut. I would also say the t55 size is a bit big compared to the 8mm drill bit a T45 could possibly be a better match. But I may be wrong. Gonna get some cobalt drill bits and see if that will do the job fingers crossed.

Many thanks for this video. Worked a treat but at 74 nearly killed me. Got 3 off (just) 4th one defeated me and I must have tapped it back. What a crappy design.

Drill a 9mm hole and knock in a 10mm tapered bar. Does exactly the same, however, if anyone tries this or another other method please be careful because if the wheel nut has been severely over-tightened with an airgun (the garage monkeys love this "toy") the bar or torx bit can start to twist and break off.

Turned this job down for a neighbour as it is risky on someone's car, ok on my own. His ordinary nuts were Very tight and Peugeot said it would take weeks for a new key. Tyre place have the job now and they said they weren't looking forward to it😚

Wicked! Now replace it with a standard bolt, I don't use locking wheel nuts at all on my used cars, gone are the days you would fine your car of bricks and all 4 scuffed alloys nicked

I did , in fact I thought a lock nut might be on the way out on last tightening so bought 4 ordinary to replace all, just before the job where another one did stick.. @@flaxvert

I have citroen 2011 c3 1.4hdi , the locking nut is deep in the alloy, by the looks of it they look the same locking nut in the video. What i wanted to ask was was your locking nut deep too. I want this method because j don't see alternative method.

Trying this now. Took a long time to get through the soft part. Feels like I'm just polishing the trip off the hard part. I guess the drop bit it's too blunt. I'm trying 8 mm SDS, 8mm boosh like in the video and 9mm cobalt as described by Amit commentator. Taking a break now, but as a guide, how long should the drilling take? Should I use T50, or 10mm star?
@flaxvert

I managed with bosch bits but i see others have used cobalt. If you have smaller drill bits then use them to gradually increase the size of the hole. Took around 10 mins of pushing hard but the drill bit worked well. Heres what I used after i made the hole, the T55 www.ebay.co.uk/itm/255996899277?hash=item3b9a9aafcd:g:XiAAAOSwhGpkAHG4&amdata=enc%3AAQAIAAAA8JlQnRVmuY3Ln7xcMrsHNlomZFjHD%2FCRYw3GfAm5WHh%2FcsqSDuh9F49K%2BFEOf76nj5Rr4RVwCJ6YR4g0eOGr4z1wojaSSbGnru5e3bE%2FT%2FDM7S3nHEGOhegdQsmo5DZov8ygpJOKsOqP4eOWiA7MzHWpQwyYOP1iqpHFN8TZGbitMH%2BAgF58b%2BOV7qXIRl5R0DnXJktKFMijITXBuUNKFemGnzQQ5q6ZM5G6iFjYEXVO0TRsxuh%2BsB1zOzgitYZyUnzQ9t2x%2Fo1pMK93q9rWJ1fxBoK1mSkqD59iBNOe3VA2f6nkMPYbgMgj3IGDTI%2FjNw%3D%3D%7Ctkp%3ABk9SR4KOrIuKYw

Thanks. I think the hole is decent now, but just can't get the T55 to cut in. Arms to be bluntening the ends. I'll have to have a think, and then hand over to someone else 😕
