Here is what you do to make your neighbor look like a fool and cause code enforcement to stop patronizing her. Hide a speaker near the fence and play a recording of chickens cackling and roosters crowing. When code enforcement keep inspecting and determine there are no chickens on your property, very quickly your neighbor will be classified by the city to be nuts. If he can call quails , chickens when they are not, then you can call her dogs, chickens, making her in violation of the municipal code.

I’d get 6 roosters and put them exactly 20’ from the property line.

My neighbor had a dog that would bark frequently at me even if it seen me in my house through my window. I picked up a Super-Barkaway ultrasonic bark detector. I placed it right next to the fence inside one of my kid's toy wagon. The dog ran away the first moment that I used it and would run to the corner of the neighbor's deck and try to bark again but the ultrasonic noise drove the dog nuts and within a day the dog never barked again.

The dude doesn't know a chicken from a quail maybe he doesnt know the difference between a rabbit and a dog.

It was a neighbor (Karen) who just doesn't think his yard meets her standards. Probably thinks the quail are just emaciated, abused chickens.

What you see here are the neighbors from hell who put their noisy dog under this poor man's bedroom window and refuse to care that it's preventing the guy from getting a good night's sleep. Rather than take a hint, the jerks double down and try to make the guy's life even more miserable.

Code enforcement is the boil on the butt of society.

I love how anonymous reports to the police are received with complete believability over any in-person refutation by the individual being accused. Telephone calls trump person-to-person encounters every time. Police/public enforcers simply look for any excuse to escalate a situation when given the slightest opportunity.

Well the paperwork specifies chickens and you don’t have any chickens so I wouldn’t move anything until you have something that says you have to move your quail. Then just tell your neighbor that the code people came out and verified you had no chickens and didn’t give you any code violation for the quail then leave it at that. Maybe that’ll be enough to make her think there’s nothing wrong with where the quail are. Just saying🤔

Can you imagine doing this for a job? The things people will do for money, telling other people where they can and cannot put their chicken coops based on some arbitrary municipal code. What a colossal waste of time and energy.

As much as I HIGHLY DISPISE code enforcement, the city worker ( never say officer ,they are not officers they are city personnel), was reasonably polite and was even willing to miss class them as chickens and not quail which apparently carried tighter restrictions. Let me repeat I HATE CODE ENFORCEMENT! But this guy wasn't a dick ,by doing the quail not chickens, you could have easily fucked this whole situation up worse . Always let them speak and understand what they say ,not all of them are dickheads . Also know the rules study and understand what they entail and what they don't to any activity you do in the city . For example : In my city it is illegal to leave a trailer on the street unattached to a vehicle . I have a car hauler that I don't use every day but often enough that backing it in and out of the yard would be a hassle . So I read the code on it ,no where did it specify what constitutes "attached" . No meeting on Hitch or chains or anything, it literally sayed " attached" and that's it . So I parked the spare car behind it and used a short load binder chain to hook on the back of the trailer and the frame of the spare car . Of course the city came by and started they're shit saying it was a $1000 fine blah blah , when he was done I told him the street is out of his jurisdiction and my hourly rate was $100. An hour did he still want to continue.? He left and a few hours later PD shows up threatening to tow it ( and because PD does have jurisdiction on the street ) I explained to him the attached part and even showed him ,and as predicted he claimed that's not what it means . I told him can you prove otherwise in court? And if you tow that trailer you will be responsible for any damages to surrounding vehicles. He left and this was over 2 years ago and my trailer still sits on the street when not in use .

I remember one time in gridley, I got a ticket for possesion of less than an ounce of marijuana. my neighbor was upset because he got fined more for having chickens in city limits than I did for possesion of weed....

And government is who "owns" our property, not us. This man pays his taxes and gets harassed for it. As for anonymous, read your constitution. Had any violation been issued, we have an absolute right to confront our accuser (complaintent) in a court of law.

I caught a code enforcer at my neighbor's house in his backyard then a week later the same code enforcer came back saying that they had a complaint about his shed that was by the fence that he made, lucky my neighbor had cameras all around the house that caught the code enforcer in his backyard a week earlier without permission, reaching over the fence taking the lock off and opening the fence door and it's all on camera lawsuit case is still pending against City and code enforcement

If the code specifies chickens and rabbits but does not mention quail, it does not apply. This code enforcement officer needs to read and understand his code.

The guy was calling the quail chickens to give the guy a break. He knows they're not chickens. But if he admits they're quail, then you have to move them 100 feet and you don't have 100 feet. So he's throwing you a bone.

My friend Professor Panglos used to keep non-rabbits. They looked a lot like rabbits which caused a bit of confusion for bureaucrats.

I would almost guarantee there is no ordinance for these birds. You called on the dog next door and he called on you.

Chickens and quail are not the same thing. Like in my city, quail are not livestock. So you can own quail in the city, but you need 2.5 acres to own chickens. Because chicken are livestock. The LEGAL word of the law is what applies, not someone making things up off the top of their heads. Unless the LAW says quail and chickens are the same thing, they're not.

They should have the anonymous on record so the courts know it not a set up for crazy stuff like this
