A person who do not want to make a empty promise is the best person we could have ! To shout out a number to cheer out people is a politician, Andrew Yang is not a politician! He is a problem solver! All the way for Yang!
I felt the exact same way. Kudos to Andrew for standing firm on his beliefs. Imagine a future leader who wants to research an important issue inside and out before rolling out a plan of action. Keep fighting the good fight, Andrew!
yes, him saying that he won't commit to a number when reducing mass incarceration made my day. These empty promises by the politicians is not cool. He is going to solve it realistically using plans and facts rather than simple promises that may or may not even be reached.
@@bepositive6756 But using that logic anyone could go up there and use coldreading/ mentalism tactics like barnum and rainbow statements and never specify and people would say the same thing. Numbers allow the audience to quantify a plan so it's not so needlessly abstract. They can input the information like variables in a function and determine if the projected output serves them. That's not irrational. Other politicians have released comprehensive plans on this and it's not absurd to think he can do the same.
I'm 62 and worked digital graphics all my life. Biden doesn't know how to text??? soooo done with old school politicians. It's time for radical change. Also VERY time for US to bail out it's citizens like it did Wall Street.
makesmefeellikeatalltree Biden nice man but out of touch. We cannot afford a place holder. Our country needs to move forward and make the changes necessary to survive in this new world. Time for smart young people or we will just lose in 4 years.
The dividend will lower incarceration more than any other candidate by far!!! Let others lie to you and say 50%, it won’t happen. Andrew keeps it real and will do better in this area. I know this to my core, In my experience as a CPS worker and mental health clinician and sociologist. It’s time to change America! #Yang2020
@juannn321 well, i've been wondering for years why we don't have a greater army corps of engineers to do these domestic projects! if yang isn't saying that, then tulsi might be. and, if she isn't saying it and no one else is...then i would vote for YOU if you ran for pres. :) p.s. - right now we are under-staffed in our domestic army
Love that Yang wouldn't commit to a number without knowing the facts on local incarceration. Laughed a bit when the moderator said others had done so, as if that was a good thing. Nah, Yang's smart enough to know not to make such bluntly empty promises. Their list of other candidates works more against them than for them, in my view.
I think it’s pretty dumb to force candidate to commit to a number. Like what’s the point? If they’re not going to do it then they’re not doing to do it. Andrew’s response is so much more responsible.
Agree with you. I also found the logic is flaw thinking the fact Andrew didn't commit to a numbers means he isn't serious while other "business as usual" candidate promise a number as if they are serious on not making empty promises.
you'd think we'd get tired of listening to this man speak but here i am. i wish everyone knew about him already and would check out his website so we don't have to hear the same thing over and over again.
This guy is a dark horse. Cnn is ignoring him i feel in my gut that wont matter in the end. I think Andrew Yang is being extremely underestimated . i am one of many many poor people and we will be heard or we will parish. How many are living homeless not knowing where your next meal is coming from? There are more than you think. Hey Andrew you want to win? Find a way to get all the homeless to vote without having an adrress?
I am astonished at how much "specific" legal issues Andrew knows is going on in our country. There was ALOT of specific questions. Yet he is still able to answer them rationally as oppose to answering them with political zingers. This guys is a deep thinking machine.

The 12 candidates that already committed to 50% reduction in mass incarceration is a meaningless argument for why Andrew Yang also need to commit as well. All this is saying is that there are 12 very weak candidates that caves easily under pressure. I am glad Andrew Yang did not cave. It shows that he has integrity to not made empty promises. This way when he does make any promises, we know he will try everything to keep them with high confidence of achieving them.
That was a fantastic response to the "commit to 50%" demand from the moderator. "Sorry, lady, I can't promise you that. It would be irresponsible." That's exactly what we need much more of, in the political class across the board.
During Christmas when companies know people have allocated an extra budget for Christmas shopping.... stores have sales!!! Trying to compete for that cash! Prices go down!
His refusal to commit to a hard number because he doesnt know he can shows you he is talking everything but bs. When he says he commits to the spirit, he is sincere.
The typical feminist comment and other sexist nonsense is just not true. Do I feel like she was hostile and rolled her eyes way too many times? Yes, but saying it’s typical feminist stuff is not ok. Yang is not her candidate. That is obvious. I think he did great by not engaging in the hostility. And at the end she seemed more frustrated that she didn’t get him to engage or commit to her agenda. This is just human nature when there is something important to you.

Pretty sick of it. Leadership has gone and left the people. I've had three promotions in 3 years. Certainly no slouch or shitty worker. But as my pay has gone up, my hours dropped. Things ended up evening out so I pretty much went near nowhere. I've had fair success and make responsible decisions. But now my job is leaving me for another state. The distance + cost is too much of a net negative to follow. So after three years of dedicating myself to something, it's back to the beginning. I don't mention my work ethic to brag, but to introduce the idea that honest workers who do everything they can to do things right, and do things on their own, are by the hordes falling behind by no fault whatsoever of their own. And to expect us to magically preserve things as they are is ignorant and callous from those that push back with awful sayings like "just move" or "you weren't responsible."
Absolutely love Andrew Yang, not because of UBI alone, but literally ALL of his proposals. This is one smart guy with reasonable and effective solutions.
Love the Q&A section. Ranked choice voting and democracy dollars will save our democracy from the political extremes and lobbyists influence, and promote more civil political discussions, and make third party candidates more viable over time.
gespilk Why do you assume people don’t do any research like yourself? From his website: “It would be easier than you might think. Andrew proposes funding the Freedom Dividend by consolidating some welfare programs and implementing a Value-Added Tax (VAT) of 10%. Current welfare and social program beneficiaries would be given a choice between their current benefits or $1,000 cash unconditionally - most would prefer cash with no restriction. A Value-Added Tax (VAT) is a tax on the production of goods or services a business produces. It is a fair tax and it makes it much harder for large corporations, who are experts at hiding profits and income, to avoid paying their fair share. A VAT is nothing new. 160 out of 193 countries in the world already have a Value-Added Tax or something similar, including all of Europe which has an average VAT of 20 percent. The means to pay for the Freedom Dividend will come from 4 sources: 1. Current spending. We currently spend between $500 and $600 billion a year on welfare programs, food stamps, disability and the like. This reduces the cost of the Freedom Dividend because people already receiving benefits would have a choice but would be ineligible to receive the full $1,000 in addition to current benefits. Additionally, we currently spend over one trillion dollars on health care, incarceration, homelessness services and the like. We would save $100 - 200+ billion as people would take better care of themselves and avoid the emergency room, jail, and the street and would generally be more functional. The Freedom Dividend would pay for itself by helping people avoid our institutions, which is when our costs shoot up. Some studies have shown that $1 to a poor parent will result in as much as $7 in cost-savings and economic growth. 2. A VAT. Our economy is now incredibly vast at $19 trillion, up $4 trillion in the last 10 years alone. A VAT at half the European level would generate $800 billion in new revenue. A VAT will become more and more important as technology improves because you cannot collect income tax from robots or software. 3. New revenue. Putting money into the hands of American consumers would grow the economy. The Roosevelt Institute projected that the economy would grow by approximately $2.5 trillion and create 4.6 million new jobs. This would generate approximately $800 - 900 billion in new revenue from economic growth and activity. 4. Taxes on top earners and pollution. By removing the Social Security cap, implementing a financial transactions tax, and ending the favorable tax treatment for capital gains/carried interest, we can decrease financial speculation while also funding the Freedom Dividend. We can add to that a carbon fee that will be partially dedicated to funding the Freedom Dividend, making up the remaining balance required to cover the cost of this program.”

Wow. You actually get a candidate that does not make empty promises without knowing the numbers on the ground and you grill him on that. You know what, instead of 50%, try asking the other candidate a higher number like 90%, and I bet you lots of them will still make promises just to get your vote. I don't want to call her stupid b word because we yanggang are respectful people. But if anyone else calls her that, I have no urge to defend her at all.
She's a limousine liberal -- and S.J.W. -- and you know what, she'd probably be happy with that! People like that have a financial incentive to moan and groan.
She was a very good moderator although not a neutral one. For reducing incarceration, I felt she was looking for the spirit expressed in numbers 50%, to commit in spirit. That said Andrew Yang’s answer was perfect.
If Yang gets pass the 3rd debate, his new moniker would have to be like this, “ The opposite of Donald Trump is no longer just an Asian man, but all citizens of The United States. Let’s set our political differences aside and come together as one to save our great Republic from the clutches of evil. “
I was happy Yang did not, ultimately, agree with every demand of the ACLU. I support the ACLU in many ways but NO organization gets to demand 100% capitulation.
Andrew Yang does not give you platitude like other politicians. He is a problem solver. He has policies addressing the issues facing normal American. People actively seek out his video and feel compel to express their true feeling. That is a good thing. Yang2020! HumanityFirst!!
tyjghjghhh 180 degrees actually. Yang has an almost unblemished past and has proven time again with venture for america that he works for the people. I think we have a much greater chance of positive change with him in office. Obama couldn’t fulfill his promises because of the senate. Trump fails to resolve our problems but does acknowledge them. If Yang gets presidency the problem is whether senate will let him do anything, but he is bipartisan so he has much better chances there than obama ever did.
Please join the que of countries that want Andrew Yang. I think I put in dibbs for Australia many Yang videos ago...lol. Perhaps we can explore *cloning technologies*
@tyjghjghhh *"there's no Asians in norway"* Yang is colour blind, also non-ideological & unlike many other democratic candidates(e.g. Bernie Sanders) is also not a *zero sum game proponent...*

As someone who is in recovery, and has worked in treatment, Ihink the freedoms dividend would help addicts tremendously. 1) Economic insecurity is a huge driver for substance abuse 2) Scarcity also lowers your functional IQ thus leading many to make irrational and impulsive decisions. 3) An addict who does not have money will find ways to buy their drug of choice, would still end up getting it often times through dark measures such as stealing, identity theft, etc. This in turn raises criminal activity and makes a more expensive cost structure for our legal system. Trust me, if you are withdrawing and don't have money, you will find the means to get your drug of choice no matter what.
Yang got his BA at Brown University, private Ivy League college where 2019 tuition is about $78,000 a year. Then he attended another private Ivy League college - Columbia University to get his law degree. The cost of Columbia University in 2019 is about $60,000. Clearly schools designed for those in top 1% of the society, and not for the average American.
@@CaliforniaGirl-qk5kq just like almost all politicians but unlike them he is using his privilege to help the disenfranchised and help make the country and the world by extension better. He started an education company that he sold after it reached the top. Then used that money to start a non-profit, Venture for America, that helps young people with employment and entrepreneurship in the cities that need it most. Now he is using his brain and heart to try to implement policies that will fix the problems that are causing Americans to lose their jobs to automation as well as all his other smart proposals. Hey moderator...its not about you. No one cares about your opinion. Let the guy speak and let the people make up their own minds. Really unprofessional.
no . shes doing her job in checking him. andrew has hardly been checked before and its refreshing and important to see how he stands up to challenges, like from donald trump.

@gespilk of course there's funding from data--it's the profits from data that allowed facebook to grow, go public, and make Zuck a billionaire. Are you not aware that it's our personal data that is making people rich in silicon valley? it's people's data they are selling, and like oil, it can generate huge dividends that can be distributed like they do with oil in Alaska.
If you’ve heard yang before just skip to the q and a. He is remarkable. How is all that information and policy floating around in his head and it flows so easily out in his answering.
Can someone please explain why his speech so addictive? I have heard this speech many time but I never get bored. there must be some sort of phycological trick
Because Andrew Yang has touched the truth within you. The truth within you ís already inside your store consciousness. A skillful speaker or teacher will awaken the truth to life in us. Truth cannot be given as a gift !!!. You already have it.
Because people are starved for authenticity, intelligence, and compassion in people of power and influence that we see on TV, now more than ever. Yang is everything the world needs more of and I hope America isn't too far gone to recognize it.
gespilk By data he was referring to a Value Added Tax (VAT). He would add a VAT of 10% for businesses using anything online. Every other developed country already has this tax, but theirs are around 20-30%
@@jug525 ignore this gespilk user, he is a troll in many Yang's video. And when Yang mentioned about data, it wasn't referring to VAT either. He was referring to our data or information about us being used by companies to sell it as a product to make money off us while we are not aware of nor benefit from it. So taxing all business transactions mostly gear heavily on such companies via VAT and lowering down on staple goods. Don't forget those taxes will be generating back into Freedom dividends and not to the government system.
Love this guy!! dems need to pick him. only man fixing the well not the sink!! solving the real problems that got trump elected and not just replacing trump!
Nice. Thank you for uploading. I was watching Tulsi and Delaney’s versions just yesterday and wondered where Andrew Yang’s video was. Andrew Yang was there on 8/16. I guess they needed some time to edit the video. Now, back to the video ;)
Like when he names all the swing states, you're naming them with him in that order.😂😂 or when he's pressing on the pretend phone and says human, human, human you're saying that with him, or when he says.....😂😂etc.

Jane, the moderator wanted Andrew to make it illegal for video cameras on people's doors captoring people walking by on the sidewalk. People like Jane makes women look stupid and irrational. If she took her family to Disneyland and take pictures, I can sue her if my image happened to be in the background of the photo she took of her family. Thousands of RU-vidrs would be sued because many people were in the background of the video. When you're in public, you no longer have privacy. Standing in the middle of the sidewalk, you do not have privacy. Also, saying Andrew is not serious because he would not commit to a specific number shows she's an unreasonable and illogical person.
This guy is whicked smat! Like actually really smart. Uses math! I have been against universal income for a while but he has convinced me that its actually a good idea
Tell everyone you know :) Most people who do their research like you are won over on him. Most don't though so we have to do the work of the corporate media and spread the word.
What an obnoxious strident moderator. What can be accomplished by entering an interview in attack mode before you've even heard responses? Andrew Yang proved his presidential temperament here.
The moderator is clearly biased, but Andrew killed it. Like woman, if you think your opinion is so important why don’t YOU run for president? #yang2020
All is one, nice try. Yang would use a VAT tax to primarily fund it which would essentially be a consumer tax. So no, it’s not free money. We would still be paying in to it. The idea is the return would vastly outweigh the investment. Give us something more intelligent, please.

the mere mention of UBI, a thousand dollars a month to every adult American citizen, immediately drew laughs from the crowd some people just don't get it yet but they'll come around. one year from now they'll come around
The moderator was full of s*** feminist who apparently has a problem with the real practical solutions that Yang proposes. The part where she says, “I can refute that” was as awkward moment as I have seen in any of Yangs events so far. She was adversarial and obnoxious at best and as biased a moderator as I’ve seen anywhere at any capacity in a while and her act came off looking in poor taste quite frankly. However, Yang handled himself and her like a champ and with class. #YangGang 💯 %

I'll reply to myself lol. In re-visiting this I can't wait until the debates heat up and he starts getting challenged, the man is sharp, knows his own mind and isn't relying on talking points.
the moderator is kinda weird with her, "i would refute that" jab - if she was walking in a public space she actually thinks there is no expectation that there could be a camera there - what world is she living in? my question to her is: how does she think she can stop something like that - is she going to remove all camera's on cell phones or stores? also, those cameras in public have helped solve many crimes - does she think that is bad?
I thought “moderators” were supposed to be neutral? Isn’t that the point? Way to go Andrew for not being pressured into giving an answer solely for the sake of pleasing the person asking the question. Yang 2020!
I found there are a lot of her. She is not unique. She is the hate Bernie, love Hillary left of 2016. The image that the right have when they say they hate the "Left". A lot of them still believe that their Hillary support wasn't what led us to Trump. They feel that everyone else is stupid for not voting Hillary. Bernie and Trump supporters alike.
That moderator was caustic and self-important. What a shame, when it would've been way more useful to get his thoughts on broader concerns rather than an attempt to unnecessarily pin him politically.
