@Remove Talos I don't recall doing anything bad to him at all, I just fucked everyone else instead. Had one of those 'I'll kill you last' things going on
Emperor Uriel Septim VII Hey! Hey Emperor Uriel Septim VII, the Mythic Dawn are coming they are gonna kill you! Oh god he has the amulet of kings on he can't hear us, oh god!
Genghis Khan, killed 40 million people, is the most nicest man in the game. Gandhi, killed not a single man in his life, is apparently the most vicious warlord in the game. What the fuck is this?
40 Million? You watch to much history channels. For the mongols he is of course a hero. Genghis khan unite the mongol tribes and was very tolerant to other cultures, compared to many western civilizations. Btw. George bush killed not single person too (by himself). Little Joke.
+Uni Verse tbh, 40 million was what i was always told when it comes to the Khans' conquest but even i found it to be a bit exaggerating. What really was the death count again? Also, I do respect Gengkhis Khan and his ambition to unite the tribes despite his bad actions. I'm not saying he was evil, but if having Gandhi to be worse than him is kind of like saying Martin Luther King jr was a racist, white hating man
@@iustinprisacaru225 Co-operate and he'll be your best friend, betray him and no mercy was given. Mongols didnt have aspirations to rule the world until the Khwarezmian Empire, Genghis approached them looking to establish trade and gain a new ally which in return they imprisoned his merchants and killed his ambassadors. After this, I guess you could say he was done being nice to anyone.
After all these years. I still remember how I first encountered Ghenhis khan in Civ V. It was after school, I opened my crappy laptop and started playing some rounds of Civ V. He was added through I patch I guess back then? I did not knew that back then. So there I was playing and lagging. When I ended my turn, I knew some other civ just discovered me (the game was loading a lot longer than usual) and there he was! I did not knew Mongolia was in the game and it took me by surprise that I saw the great Khan. I could not believe it and listened to the entire theme only to comprehend what just happened. I will never forget this. Thank you for listening stranger. Had to share my memory, before we forget.
I still remember some of my first games when I played this in high school 2013. Germany was my preferred civ back then. The first civ I defeated was Japan only because he was so close. I think I played Russia that game. Too many good memories. I still play this game to this day.
***** It literally means a smiling tiger, describing someone who hide his overwhelmingly aggressiveness behind his smile. So you are absolutely right with the proverb using on this guy.
Interestingly Shakespeare have a similar saying, that is :"There is a dagger in men's smiles." Seems both the West and the East got the same understanding about this :)
lol try going for a cultural victory. I almost always win on culture, and in order to do so I have around three cities total, just with absolutely massive territory. For some reason if you play this way he sees it as some sort of an insult that you only have three cities and never declare war on anyone - every time I play against him he declares war on me at least once every era
"Something less than an enlightened king, and yet something far more than a simple barbarian" Genghis Khan was very complex man with a fascinating life story. He was also perhaps the most forward thinking and perceptive ruler of the middle ages, pre-empting global economics and encouraging local cultures to flourish distinct from the conquerors. Most of Asia lived under his banner, and free trade and exchange flourished. Not just of goods, but also of ideas. That was perhaps his greatest legacy, which outlived his empire.
+Bumbling Brit He wanted to build an empire as Tom up there described and he did, but you cannot make such and such an empire, at such a size, without harshly cracking down on your foes.
+Bumbling Brit There are two sides. He was an absolute asshole, but also a champion of trade. It's a difficult topic. Although nowadays up to 0.5% of the world's population (16 million) are direct descendants of Genghis Kahn, so in a strange way he gave lots of life...
Genghis Khan was about as "forward thinking" as Christopher Colombus. The man was as brutal as it gets. Completely decimated China, Iraq, and Iran to the point of being comparable to what various European imperialists did to the Native Americans. FUCK Genghis Khan. He deserves nothing but scorn and hatred.
hey, can't make a great empire without killin a lotta ppl. he may have massacred enough to make hitler look like a joke, but the positives he provide for those loyal to him are massive as well. in a way, you can respect his sense of honor, for leaders nowadays lack such things as honor
So , people are very confused about Genghis being Loyal and nice to his friends. If you study his biography you will understand that he never forgot those who helped him , and let them hold higher positions throughout their lifetime, also he never forgave those who betrayed him. They say he killed millions. Yes he did. But on the other hand he grew in a times where everything was against him except those who was loyal to him. The Khan has been betrayed numorous time in his life time and it almost costed him his life if it wasn't for the few who helped him. The mongols at the time had same story. Turkish tribes from the west trying to dominate them. Settlers from the south tried to hold them down, crucifying their khans. With his loyal friends he was able to unite mongolia , and with them he was able to conquer their enemies. That is why he is loyal to his friends , hateful to his enemies. I think civilization team did great job on the personalities.Really good job on the Khan. Don't know about Gandhi tho ;D.
That would be a glitch in civ 1, where they tried to make him more peaceful as the game went on. However, the peaceful counter would loop and return to 99, making him really aggressive. They kept his likeliness to build nukes stat high as a reference.
About him not forgiving betrayal, there was one time someone shot Genghis Khan's horse, and was given a higher position. He believed that the shooter was tough
It's Jebe. Because he came up confessing that he was the shooter, the Khan decided to keep him. Khan thought it was bravery and honesty. He's one of the two famous generals Jebe and Subutai.
"The proud and warlike Mongul people greet you. Treat us with respect and you may live to see another sunrise.", says Genghis Khan with a trustful smile on his face.
sumrandumguy1 He's probably laughing and thinking "You know what? I like you. You can actually take a fucking beating unlike everyone else here. I'll save you for last"
Box0rz Khan's AI is designed to be aggressive but honest, he won't pretend to be your friend when he means you harm and he's unlikely to backstab you when you're friends (that doesn't make it impossible, just unlikely). Just don't give him an excuse to invade you and you're fine.
The thing I always liked is how, after winning a war against him, he'd change his tune and become one of my closest friends, and he'd never turn his back on me. It was like he came to fight, to test the mettle of others, and those that won were considered honest victors. So I guess, thanks for the fights. They were pretty intense. Buddy.
This theme works in a very ironic manner. Instead of giving off an aura of tranquility, it emits a vibe of danger, authority, and intimidation. Through this and Khan's game appearance you can easily feel the force of his history. It's as if to say, "Yes, this is peace, but only because I allow it. Behind me is the will to crush you entirely."
"Alexander tried to forward-settle near me so I ate his city states for breakfast and stole his horse. Oh by the way can you give me an embassy so I can see where your capital is?.... Just interested."
Chinggis Khan...he was best friends with me when I played as Poland. With his horse-mounted archers and my Hussars, we practically ploughed through all of Europe and Asia. We had a close call with Gandhi and his nukes, but eventually we became some of the most feared men on Earth. I was utterly surprised he didn't backstab me as so many others did (*Cough* Caesar *Cough*). Now he has Asia while I have Europe. Next...the Americas.
+Marked One In fact, Genghis Khan is one of the most loyal leaders, that's not surprising :) Of course, he will try to destroy you in the beggining if he sees you're weak tho.
This track has inspiration in the mongolian “long song” which is sung by mongolian women, usually accompanied by the morin khuur (the mongolian equivalent to a cello/viola da gamba/fiddle). The cello is imitaring the typical style of singing and melodic ornamentations from the technique employed by mongolian female singers :3
Siberian Khanate I really don't give a flying fuck, I was commenting on the fact that Alexander's horse in the game looks strikingly similar to Genghis' horse.
+The Green Miscarriager of Arkansasian Prisons I just searched up Goosh Goosh out of wild curiosity. There are many things I regret in life, but none quite as much as doing that. I want to die now. Or at the very least claw my eyes out.
Um because he conquered or almost conquered all of Eurasia (Europe + Asia) in a century with a Steppe nomadic empire and caused the deaths of tens of millions of people
He backstabbed my friend after years of friendship and sent a massive army towards his capital simply because he was his biggest competition on the continent.
One of the most famous conquer's, known to use dead plague infested bodies as projectiles, and ruled over almost all of central Euro-Asia, is one of the nicest and kind AI players in the game. Wut
+LGBTQ for Hillary Did you just compare the US to the Nazis and Soviets? Spain was a religious country, but opened up much of the new world for money and trade. The UK had the largest navy in the world, and many colonies, the world would not be as technologically advanced as it is without them. Portugal is the reason we know what the new world is, and is the reason we know how to travel all the way around the Cape of Good Hope, the US is the only reason Europe isn't controlled by Nazis and why Japan didn't conquer Malaysia and some of Europe. You're very uneducated.
+Nick Santillo (Nickywhat) Genghis Khan is loyal, but definitely not peaceful. Gandhi is the most peaceful leader in civil 5, he has the lowest desire to start a war, index is 1. If he take freedom strategy, according to the system, will reduce 2,
+李帆 Actually, that was how it worked in the first Civ game. Firaxis thought it was hilarious, so they made it so he is now extremely likely to build and use nukes- if he's at war. Gandhi now has a low warmonger rating, and it doesn't skyrocket if he picks Freedom anymore. However, since all the Civ V AIs are all prone to surprise-attacking weak players like backstabbing scum, Gandhi will likely use a nuclear advantage to annihilate you anyway. Fear him.
@@bliss2632 mehh just finish him off be4 he gets nukes :P Shaka is the one to fear...getting Impi rushed is NOT fun :P and it is extremely easy to get on his bad side :P i merely finished of Venice since well...Venice XD easy kill of an opponent and no more puppeting of my CS allies but boy did Shaka take it personal 0.0 sucked for him tho that i was Babylon >:D and i was prepared for him but it was brutal XD he couldn't capture my cities due to walls of Babylon+good archers but impis are no joke on the battlefield and Shaka doesn't give up easily. the ai is quite incompetent in battle but even from the ai an impi rush is damn effective! that's how good they are.
343 is the worst thing to happen to haloAnyway the Mamlukes lost 39 years later to Hulagu Khan and his mongols so... :( see:Battle of Wadi al-Khazandar
Leon Arrington They actually lost under Al-Nasir Muhammad to Ghazan Khan. So Hulagu never got revenge. The Mongols also never conquered Egypt, so there is that :D. Also, after the Mongols won the battle and sacked Damascus, they withdrew from the area and the Mamluks reoccupied it after they left.
This music is so nice...although the Mongols were rough people, their culture still preserved today, the sea of grass, the throat singing, the wonderfull horse guitar, Mongolian Poetry. God, what an unbelievable nice culture.
When a game is programmed to occasionally to repeat history, I get scared when I play on Western Europe and find this guy on the Eastern edge of Europe.
This is perhaps the most beautiful scores in not just Civilization, but of any game soundtrack. How ironic is it that such a beautiful theme accompanies perhaps the most ruthlessly efficient killer of men among men of all time.
Genghis can be a good friend if this happens 1. He declares war on you 2. You destroy all his units defensively 3. Peace and hopefully he does not care you went to war 4. Win
I dont know if i by mistake took random personalities but, in one of my games i have borders to gengisk khan and hes friendly, we are friends and we have defensiv pacts. And this is with NO war.
Ohh you will if you play your cards right. Just join him in pulverizing everyone else and only then betray eachother and duke it out like men. This guy is quite loyal if you are and a great war buddy.
The Muslim Army Under The Command Of Sultan Saif Aldein Qutuz Has Defeated His Grandson Hulagu In The Battle Of Ain Jalut Near Palestine 1260 AD , But Genghis Khan Is A Fearless Warrior
This song suits him really well.. Bitter era with bloody enemies everywhere. While he's definitely a warlord who left destruction wherever their horde passed by, what they have accomplished one thing like no other civilizations ever did, "unification".
Tumen Odnuud Brother actually it’s the opposite the United States is a unfinished blueprint of the Mongols, the Forefathers of USA used the laws of Genghis Khaan and the Mongs, But only was able to acquire a small piece of the Mongol Empires laws. Mongols are the father and Mother of all people.
Genghis Khan's Peace Theme also known as Genghis Khan's Biding his Time to Conquer You Theme also known alternatively as You are already made to submit to Genghis Khan by force or intimidation Theme.
I love the subtle Chinese influence in the song. Really helps capture the fact that Genghis himself was a huge Sinophile who often sought out Chinese Confucian and Daoist scholars.
For someone who conquered 20 percent of earth’s land and besieged large cities like Baghdad, Genghis is actually a pretty nice ally in civ 5.When I played as Japan on Emperor difficulty, we had a near game long friendship before he destroyed me when I decide to invade Poland
There is. Sometimes, he is my closest ally until he sends spies after spies when they die to my Special Agent Spy and all of the anti-spy upgrades. Then, its go time, Khan. Prepare your pikemen, my tanks are coming.
New Zoits Huns are Turkic ignorant :D They are taken Turkic names,They are believed old pure Turkic religion Tengriism, and culture etc. same.Hungarians and Turks have common ancestors=HUNS. And Huns are totally Turkic. They came to Europe from Central Asia. İn my history Xioun-Nu=Asia Hunnic Empire and 2.=Europe Hunnic Empire. Europe is don't know even European Huns capitol. It's Etzelburg. You guys are don't know my ancestors and pls except it :) Attila,Bleda etc. these names are Turkic names not fucking German or European names. Don't steal our history...
New Zoits Mongolians are pretty good archers right. In the past,in Turk-Mongol Empires there is most important weapon or unit= Horse Archers. Horse is a life style in our culture and Mongols culture. That's why Mongolians are pretty good with the horse archery :)
Yeah i know. In my country muslim shariah supporters don't like him and his grandsons but we love them(Turanist,Pan-Turkist) because Temujin is common ancestor with Turks and Mongols. I like him. İn the past Mongols and Turks were fighting each other. In the past Mongols burned mosques and libraries. That's why they don't love Mongols :D Temujins grandsons are arab-slayer. Long live Hulagü Khan. Do u know him?
The first time I played as the Iroquois, I had the Shoshone to my east and the Mongols to my west. They attacked me at the same time. I was able to beat them both off, conquer the Shoshone, and liberate two city-states to act as buffers between me and Mongolia. Ghengis Khan then asked for peace, and stayed my friend for the rest of the playthrough. It was awesome.
"The proud and warlike Mongul people greet you. Treat us with respect and you may live to see another sunrise." Says it all while giving you a sweet smile
For the people who enjoyed this song as much as I did, listen to this Mongolian song. I loved it. They use the same instruments as they did in this song. They are called ''Morin Khuurs'' if I'm not mistaking.
