I never said she was better. Its just Clark was more in love with her. While Lana was around he never considered Lois as anything more than a friend even privately.

+KrisTomLuver I couldn't agree more you know even though Clark and Lana had their dramas if there is one thing that is so true it didn't turn them into psychopaths like lex and Lionel as well personally I don't like Lionel cause he tends to force people to solve his problems even when they have problems of their own Johnathan was and always will be the only true father Clark ever had cause he raised Clark to protect those he loved not put them in harms way directly or even indirectly
Besides, lana really was better than lois.With clark and as a person,thats why he always prefer her and he loved her more than he will love lois. Seems like clark love lois cause their relationship is easy and long term happy,and he is sure she is the one since brainiac five from the future assured him that everything would be ok.Basically he love lois cause is convenient. But with lana clark was happy just to be with her,wheter they had problems or not,and he proposed cause he truly wanted lana to know him and spend the rest of the life together. From my POV yes clark love lois ,but is like circumstantial,cause they are the only 2 left single of the gang,they work together and with times he learned to love her even with all her annoying flaws.And most important because thats what the mythos wants. The love he has for lana is just different its like more genuine,pure emotions,i dont know how to actually explain the way i see it to be honest.That kind of love that start from the inside,and not from outisde. Call me crazy,but i like to think the writers did this on purpose,i mean,why build such a strong love if not to show us that if their name are clark kent and lois lane that doesnt mean they love each other above anything else.Means they will end up together,but clearly if clark could he would have choose lana.Why would he choose a girl who belitles him,has a very little consideration of him and never truly loved clark kent but more superman,over a girl who has always loved him for who he is,is sweet and has always encouraged him?
I never thought he and lois had chemistry, it just seemed like sexual tension that was mostly created and pursued by Lois just to make Clark uncomfortable. He's in the shower and she just barges in 10 minutes after meeting him wearing his clothes and then tells his parents he had sex with her when they did nothing of the sort. She never had any respect for Clark or his boundries until after Lana was gon. It's like Lana loved Clark for Clark, she always thought there was something special about him just wanting him to open up. He was too afraid to lose her. Lois thought nothing of Clark but becomes obessed with someone/something she doesn't think highly enough of him to believe he could be. Lana admired Clark even when he was just a clumsy nerd, to everyone else, Lois met him with arrogant destest until she was forced to do otherwise. Their relationship seemed to lack authenticity.
Clark's honesty in this scene is something he learned from his mistakes. It didn't end up helping him save his relationship with Lana but it does help him with Lois. Lana's reaction to his honesty shows her maturity. Instead of being stubborn like she usually was, she got softer, calmer, made sure he felt safe in opening up. These are things in earlier seasons she failed to do because she was too young. Her previous reactions were always to hard and often pushed scared him off. But she's learned to be more mature and to listen. Unfortunately, they had to much history by this point and communication was the least of their issues. But there is another mature female who reacts to these things similar to how Lana did in this scene. Lois also could read when Clark was scared and adjusted her demeanor and voice tone to help him feel safe in opening up. Luckily for her, they didn't have a ton of baggage (marrying his ex best friend, not knowing she was sleeping with Bizzaro for 2 weeks, and stalking lex) to cloud the relationship.
@Black Ninja Clana's relationship also was becoming stronger and mature throughout the series by overcoming problems and difficulties. Earlier this episode Clana had a horrible argument. They both told eact other such words because of resentment, not her true feelings. Also don't forget the ending of this episode. It proves my theory. Clark didn't want to let Lana go. Did you see her eyes when he stopped her. She didn't want to leave him 💖 Their eyes ❤️ They can tell more than words ❤️ This scene proved they both admitted their mistakes. "Siren" reminds me of a conversation between Martha and Clark in "Promise". Martha: Your father and l almost didn't get married. I broke it off after a year. We had a horrible argument and I thought I'd never see him again. Yeah, we came from such different worlds. Clark: Then why'd you get back together? Martha: Because l-- I couldn't stop thinking about him. Clark: What if I take that risk? And Lana really is happy with Lex? Martha: All I can tell you, Clark, is that if I hadn't taken that chance I would have lost everything that's ever meant something to me. You see? Even such a beautiful couple like Martha&Jonathan had problems in their relationship. By the way, why this pair reminds me Clana also because of another episode. In "Ageless" Clark and Lana found in the field a special boy who later thought they were his parents ("Everyone's supposed to have a mother and father. They're supposed to love each other very much, just like you and Lana" (c) Evan). "We didn't find him. He found us". (c) Martha, Pilot. Evan "I'm glad it was you and Lana that found me." Clark: I think you found us". (c) Ageless At the end of “Siren” Lana tells about her thoughts that Clark doubts whether she’s the one he’s gonna end up with. He is silent about it. Clark doubted only when there was a crisis in their relationship. When they were happy, he never doubted. For example, in “Calling” his words: “We’re meant to be together. I’ve never been so sure about anything in my life”. The same situation is with Lois. When something wrong happened, Clark started doubting. For example, in “Finale. 1” his words: “I thought Lois was my future. I thought she was my new life and my destiny, but what if she's part of the memories I need to leave behind? What if heroes aren't destined to love?”
@Black Ninja Although, earlier seasons had hints on Clois in the future, I don't think that's a reason to move foward with that couple. Because earlier there also were hints on Chlark. Regarding the mythology. My favourite answer for those guys who keep stating that "Clark should end up with Lois because this couple is canon". Blah-blah-blah! Firstly, Smallville differs A LOT from comics. For example, Clois meet in Smallville not in Metropolis, Lana's hair is dark not red, Pete is Afro-American not white man, Bizarro loves Lana not Lois, there's a new character (Chloe), etc. So why Clana couldn't be endgame? Secondly, there are SO MANY cartoons, movies, TV series about Clois as a main couple and WILL BE in the future. So it wouldn't be apocalypse if at least in ONE SINGLE adaptation of this comics Clark would end up with other girl not Lois.
Black Ninja yeh, Clalicia is my second OTP after Clana♥️ I also think he had good chemistry with her. It would be better if Smallville writers made Clana endgame and in parallel Universe (where Clark wouldn’t meet Lana) he ended up with Alicia.

It was suppose to be the relationship that helps him discover himself and understand his powers and calling, instead the writers just used the clana relationship to throw wrenches and cause drama.
