Thank you so much Fred. I have been searching high and low for someone who has opened this damn thing without relying on a saw and ruining it. I was trying to slip an exact-o blade down the seam but it just wouldn't get in there. I knew it was possible, I was just afraid to break it. One guy I found resorted to a saw, screws and silicone caulk. I knew there was a better way. Considering how many people I've seem complaining about these things stopping working and Clarisonic's unwillingness to help us, I'm shocked that you are the only one to post a RU-vid video. Thank you so much for taking the time to do this. You will help many of us save hundreds of dollars in replacement costs. I'll post my success story here if you don't mind. Thanks Again, Nic
I've been trying to charge mine and when put the charger on it all i get is a pulse pulse pulse, i've always treated it gently so i'm wondering if my charger is bad or what the problem is.
Susan Paitsel Thats what seems to be going on with mine too. I plug it in and i get three beeps. Off the charger it doesnt turn on. But it did turn on just a moment ago. And it wouldnt turn off.....its like the power button is broken. Have you called clarisonic and asked them whats wrong with it?
skye shore i did call the company and they said the battery inside was bad,if it had still been under warranty they woulda replaced it, but go course it was not. they also said you should keep the battery charged at all times. i went a few months and didn't use mine thats when it messed up. so he said the battery charge went so low it would not come up to charge , if i can get the damn back off i'll try putting a better in like Fred did however my husband has been beating on it for 30 min. without any luck. LOL so it may end up in 30 pieces . Not sure i wanna invest in another one if they only last less than 2 years.
I'm so glad that you found this video useful. Your post was very kind. The main tricky part is removing the battery without destroying the connection points. If you know someone who is half decent with soldering electronics then you good to go if you are unsuccessful on your first attempt.
thank you for posting this video. my mother's clarisonic pro stopped charging/working awhile back and i had never thought opening up the unit. is it difficult to take the original batteries out? what brand of rechargeable batteries did you choose for replacement? do you charge the mia with the original charging stand? thanks again, you are a genius
Thank you so much!! My clarisonic Mia stopped charging after only a year and a half (of course past the warranty)..this is why I love you tube! thanks again!
oh thank god over the years i have had 3 and it tickes me off spending that kind of money and not being able to replace battery!!!! thank you thank you
wow you are awesome. thank you so much for sharing. i miss my clarisonic but money is just too skimpy to get another right now. I am grateful for a chance to make it "go" again. Many blessings to you and your loved ones. I hope my regular magnetic charger will work on the "new" system without blowing it up... Ha! bye now
Thanks for this video. Mine has been dead a while now and i haven't been able to splurge on a new one just yet. I understand the battery must have died from being charged so many times so i really wanted to see someone else open it up first so i know what i'm expecting when i attempt to repair it myself :D
I've got a Mia, too. I had it two years with gentle use (twice a week). Very disappointed it is not working anymore. Thanks for the video tip, but it's been very difficult to take it apart. Using a thin putty knife with a hammer. The glue used is extremely difficult to work through without destroying the device. Wish me luck!
hmmm interesting, I never thought these would die completely lol! I've had mine for a good six years, he was a good little friend, but I've been eyeing some of the new designs and colors anyway... ;)
Please explain how you just "pop off" the back. Is there a trick I'm missing? Thank you for the video, but your camera didn't catch the popping off part. Mine seems to be glued on with cement!
Im going to attempt this. I used my clarisonic a handful of times (once a month) and the battery went after I exited my warranty. Of course, out of warranty then they were NO help. The hard part is prying the darn thing open
Fred, did you replace the battery because it wouldn't charge and there was no sign of life? When we had to reset the breaker my device wigged out. When it's plugged in it just makes a consistent vibrating pulse that never stops and the same happens when i push the on button. Would you think it was a bad battery at this point and that replacing it would solve my problem?
That's what happened to my 4-year old unit. When I called and did troubleshooting with Clarisonic, they said that it does that when the battery will no longer hold a charge, so I'll definitely be giving this video a shot.
Hi I watched your video with great interest. My battries were dead which I have replaced but on the flipside resistor circuit ref R5 must have dropped out and I can't find. Would by any chance be able to note the value of the resistor and let me know or if any one can help? PS Circuit board part no 3310 Rev A
Just as I suspected! I was just about to try to pop the back off of my wifes Mia but I ended up taking the head off first and now its working again. According to some forum this can also happen and cause it not to charge.
Just go to Walgreens and get two 2400 rechargeable AA batteries. Another thing you can do is to take it in to a hobby shop that sells RC and they can solder tit up for you if you mess it up.
Lucie Shaw I used a hack saw on mine, then just superglued it up. the inside is also stuck with glue so just opening the outside wont make it easy. mines the pro nd it was a nightmare!
it was so difficult to pry it apart. i replaced the batteries inside, but it still wouldn't start --just gave 2 beeps. threw away my clarisonic pro. stupid design and horrible for environmental sustainability
