Hey buddy, thank you for your kind words. This will get her Clarisonic’s working again. Let it run down before your recharge it to reduce the memory problem with those batteries. Consider subscribing. Thanks, Joe.
Thank you so much. Isn’t it frustrating how companies make these units to simply be thrown away and when you throw away something like this the contents are harmful they contain heavy metals that are absolutely a problem so replacing the batteries and properly recycling the used ones makes a lot of sense.
But these are fully waterproof units. To get their UL cert they may have chosen to seal vs create a battery changing protocol that would pass. Just throwing that angle in.. I also have been disappointed I could not easily access the batteries.
@@babstankersley896 they certainly are sealed. There are other ways around getting UL approved to make a sealed battery compartment, of course but they chose not to. It was a simple way to go and a way to sell more units. Happy new year joe
Thank you very much for your comment. Yes isn’t it frustrating that these expensive devices don’t have replaceable batteries. And nickel metal hydride batteries are very toxic for the environment.
Wow. Super helpful but looks kinda difficult. It’s a shame this awesome cleaner doesn’t have a more simple solution to a dead battery. But your directions are super clear and very thorough. Thank you.
Thank you so much for your kind comments. It’s nice to be able to fix some thing that was not made to be fixed. I wish you good luck on your project take care joe
Thank you. My ex fiancé gave me a Clarisonic as a gift and I love the product. She transitioned on 2 years ago after a 3 year battle with cancer. I wasn’t about to give it up. From what I understand, the product is no longer being produced either so I’ll follow your direction and let you know what happens.
Hey Ben thank you for your comment. Yes it’s gonna work for you and that will then work for years and years and years. Instead of using the hot knife you can also use an oscillating blade like a multi tool that might even work better opening it up give that a try. Take care buddy Joe
Hello Anita! Thank you for your comments. I'm pretty sure you guys can fix it and that it will last a long time again. Don't overcharge. Consider subscribing. Thanks Joe
Thank you for sharing - 10 minutes in and I now know I can throw mine away - there is no way I have the patience for this endeavor! I'm guessing that it would be difficult to ensure it remains watertight after putting it back together, if that's the flimsy excuse that the manufacturer had for making it so difficult! I've had 2 or maybe even 3 of these brushes, they don't seem to last more than 18 months.
It doesn’t take a lot of tools just simple things and maybe you could have one of your friends help you do it. It’s so frustrating that these companies make these totally disposable when they so easily could be fixable.
Thank you! Luckily I have all the tools to get this done 🙌🏼 even if you wanted to just buy another one you can’t anymore - they are off the market. so I’m gonna give this a try!
Hey, that sounds good. I hope the video was helpful. It does work just step-by-step instructions. You’ll get there. Take care. Joe consider subscribing thanks.
Great video, I like the way you film and present it! Well appreciated :) I came hoping I could fix a similar Clarisonic device, but I understand Clarisonic (L'Oreal) really made it hard to fix the batteries easily.
Thank you for your comment. Please consider subscribing. If you follow the video you can replace those batteries and then you’ve got a great unit that works again for a long time thank you take care Joe
Is her clarisonic still working? I think I'm about to try this on mine. It's the "smart" version, but from videos it seems they're all pretty similar on the inside. Thanks for your video very good clear shots and direction.
You’re probably right without a good brush you don’t have a good unit so unless your existing brush is really good, which fortunately ours was and still continues to be it’s not worth it. Consider subscribing. Thanks. Joe.
Thank you! Awesome details! Have you considered offering to fix these for a price? I’d love you to fix mine as I don’t have all those tools. I’m sure others would hire you too!
Thank you Kathy for your kind comment. I’m glad it was helpful. I have been asked before by a number of other RU-vid watchers to fix their clear sonics but I’m really not able to. If you can find someone handy that you know, then they can follow the step-by-step details of the video and get it fixed. Consider subscribing. Thanks. Joe.
Thank you very much but I feel that this company was very deceitful to charge the consumer $200 for this device and then to seal and solder the batteries into the system so you would have to rebuy the product or toss. My batteries also have died and my unit is in new condition. I feel we as society really need to expose all companies that do these actions against us just so they make more money
Hello, Ida You are so right. Isn’t this frustrating but they’re not the only ones. Many other battery systems like black and decker Dustbuster’s etc. I have the same situation. But this video will walk you through the steps of getting your machine back in order. I hope it works for you. Consider subscribing. Thanks, Joe.

I would not suggest changing the batteries to lithium ion because if you try to charge those with the current charger, they would possibly overheat and ignite.
I'm looking on Amazon for the batteries.....I see blue ones but I don't see ones with the tabs. can you help. Love the video! We are going to give it a try once we find the correct batteries.
Please follow the link that is in my video description it will take you right to the batteries with the tabs the green ones.Consider subscribing. Thanks Joe
The reason that lithium ion batteries will not work is because they will not work with the charger that is already set up for the Clarisonic battery switch are nickel metal hydride. You probably would have a fire, so please don’t do that. Lithium-ion batteries are newer technology than the batteries that came with this device and overall they’re better but they can’t be used here. Thank you.
My Clarisonic’s batterie a just gave up after aprox 2yrs of use. The Clarasonic company has since stopped the production on the clarasonic so they aren’t easily available anymore. I don’t know if I can go through this mission, I don’t even have the tools but I appreciate the video.
I replaced these batteries a couple years ago using this video and it worked and we did it again yesterday and the lights all light up on charger but it doesn't run for more than one minute. Any suggestions? They don't make them anymore I just buy a new one and another thing is I have so many new heads. I'm hoping to get this working again.! Thank you
Hey Cynthia, I’m so glad that you did the battery replacement and it worked. It’s incredibly frustrating now that it’s not working and I’m not really sure what to do. Just double check to be sure the batteries are in the correct polarity which they probably are because it did charge. I wonder if one or more of your batteries is bad. That would probably be my guess but now that you’ve got them all Saturday in place that’s really tough to check. No real good solution I don’t think unfortunately so sorry, Joe.
Thanks for the information. I'm going to look for the suit. Never buy VIZIO TV--the suit was so large that you only rec'd less than $20, but it was worth it. Maybe these ripe-off companies will stop.
12:18 Jesus that sure is one way to make fireworks. Never expose batteries to this kind of treatment, if you can't spot weld then at least use a soldering iron. If you torch batteries like this they can explode right in your face if you're unlucky.
It is so nice to have a divine presence look over my videos. Seriously, you’re absolutely right and I agree that that’s a little overboard with the torch. I did it briefly, but yes, Saturday would certainly be the safer way to go. I agree with you. Consider subscribing. Thanks. Joe.
Yes, thank you for your comment. I did know this was out of production. For that reason battery replacement is something that can be helpful. Consider subscribing. Thanks. Joe.
Hi I love that you have this video. I found the tenergy batteries but both ends are not flat. Just one. The package also says not to solder. I did I get the wrong thing? HELP!
Thank you for your nice comment. Because this is a Nike iPad battery it’s best to dispose of it in a recycling center. Do not throw it in the trash if you don’t mind. It contains heavy metals that are very bad for the water supply and earth. Consider subscribing. Thanks. Joe.
I used steak knives to cut through the plastic. Probably some ultrasonic tool cutting tool would have been the best. Since I'm making it for me and not a wife, I'm thinking about mounting a battery case to the outside and using replaceable batteries. Or maybe just a dc adapter plug. Amazon wants $16 for a couple of NiMH batteries. I don't think so.
Thank you for your comment. I’m excited to see how your project turns out. Please let me know. If you do create an external battery plaque please send me a picture. On the other hand if it gets wet I’m a little concerned about the DC power supply but I’d love to see how things work out. Thanks
Hello ghost vapor YT Let me know how it goes. I think you’re gonna find it successful. These batteries have memory so they need to be run down fully before they’re charged back up. Leaving them on the charger all the time is deadly for this type of battery. Thanks - Joe
Thank you for your comment. You’re absolutely right it’s a project. But those are the kind of things I really enjoy doing unless you’ve got the tools in the interest to do it it’s not worth it I like the challenge. Thanks again Joe
Thank you for the opportunity, but no I am not able to do that. I did the video, so hopefully you could do it yourself consider subscribing. Thank you Joe.
Hey Steve, thanks for your comment. You are absolutely right they do not carry those batteries at Lowe’s. They must be ordered from Amazon. I will put a link in the description later. Thank you. Consider subscribing. Thanks Joe.
I’m have the electric facial brush. The power on ( mean they have electric) but when I’m turn on. Not working The brush not running And I’m don’t know how to fix. This is the second brush I have to throw away. The same situation. Thanks so much for answering
@@JosephHunstad I’m have electric facial brushes. The power on (I can see the green light) means the battery has enough ( when the battery low. The red light on ). It’s not working. Mean the brush not working. Not spinning. Do you have any idea. Thanks for help
Thank you for your question. A number of people have asked me to repair their clinics unit, but I really can’t. I’m very sorry but the step-by-step instructions are straightforward. Consider subscribing. Thanks. Joe.
Hello PeggyCK Thanks for your question. I’m really not sure which one it is. It’s not indicated on the unit. Best of wishes consider subscribing. Thanks, Joe.
Hello there. Unfortunately, I’m unable to do that. I’ve been asked before and it’s just not possible for me to do that. Very sorry. Consider subscribing. Thanks. Joe.
Hi Scarlet, Although it’s possible to use tape I would not advise it. Taping wires to batteries might be OK for a short time but over a longer time it would be very unreliable. I think it would fail. Thanks Joe
You ask a very good question. Now we’re more than two years after I replace them and they’re not doing very well. These darn batteries have memory and a relatively short life compared to lithium. Consider subscribing. Thanks. Joe.
@@dancarpenter419 I would not suggest lithium batteries, although they would be much better. Because if you charge them with the current charger, they’ll probably overheat and could ignite. Consider subscribing. Thanks. Joe.
Dr. Joe, any chance you would be willing to fix mine for a fee? I could ship it to you. Mine just started acting up last night. I could probably do everything in the video except the soldering part. I have never done that before.
You know that’s interesting no one’s ever asked me to fix theirs but I probably could. It runs like a champ with new batteries it’s amazing. Let me know what that would be worth to you. Thanks
@@JosephHunstad Hi Dr. Joe. My Clarisonic would work for a couple of weeks before I needed to charge it, but now it needs to be recharged after one use. I would definitely send mine to you to be fixed. Besides sending the Clarisonic to you, would I need to send the new batteries too? Just let me know what the charge would be and your address and I'll send it to you.
@@myexperience6064 Yes these things were made with nickel metal hydride batteries that fail overtime. They also have memory. I replaced mine with that same type of battery knowing full well that after a number of years it’s going to fail also I haven’t tried rechargeable AA lithium ion batteries but they probably would work fine and even be better. Yes if you could send your unit with rechargeable lithium ion AA batteries with a prepaid return mailer we can definitely work something out I will make a video of it because that’ll be an upgrade changing out to lithium batteries
Thank you for your comment. I’m glad you enjoyed the video. Regrettably I’ve been asked by others to do this, but I really can’t. Please consider subscribing. Thank you. Take care - Joe.
Hello Loren I wonder if your device leaked water into the motor itself? That could be bad. To get out the motor you have to take it apart. It’s unlikely that your device will work. Sorry. Consider subscribing. Thank you - Joe.
Hi Sonya, just wonder if the "Energizer rechargeable AA batteries" are the correct one for us to get to replace the batteries of the Clarisonic? Thank you.
The batteries that were present were nickel metal hydride but you probably could replace it with lithium it would even be better but I haven't done that.
I followed your instructions and fixed the device. I used Duracell 2450 rechargeable batteries. You mentioned that rechargeable batteries need to be charged and completely used before charging again, correct? Instead of using the utility knife, I used a Dremel with the rotary diamond bit, it was a lot easier to split it apart. The wife is happy, thanks a lot for the video!
So, reading your comment above, are you saying that lithium batteries might work (though, as you say, you haven't yet tried them), but lithium-ion batteries will not work? I just want to make sure I understand. Thank you for your video. @@JosephHunstad
Thanks for telling me that boy I didn’t know they had gone out of business but I’m not surprised. They’re not the only ones that use those batteries that failed and were made not to be replaceable which is disappointing for sure. Thank you for your comment. Take care - Joe
