As you may have seen, I review eBikes with top speeds in excess of 28 miles per hour. The bicycle helmets we've used are designed for protection up to 20mph. Xnito sent us a helmet to review with extra protection around the temples and the back of the head with thicker foam. Check out this review to see what I thought.
& don't forget.. always wear a helmet while riding! :)
If you think an Xnito helmet is for you, save 10% ($15) using the coupon code "MissGoElectric" at xnito.com/MISS... ; This will bring the price to $135.

I appreciate that you are reviewing helmets. Very informative and helpful. I purchased a Thousand helmet recently and it is stylish, but feels a bit hot and heavy when I really get riding. Is the helmet you are reviewing lightweight and cool? Thank you!

Yes, it is very lightweight and has good ventilation.

Number one reason for a helmet is Safety. As a road warrior on an urban class 3 e-bike, I've noticed that there not many helmets on the market that are designed to protect riders at higher speeds. It appears that many helmet makers focus more on form over function. Xnito helmets are one of the few helmet producers, that meet the Dutch NTA-8776 standards for speeds up to 28mph. Here is a no brainer, that can save your brain. Xnito incorporates a head and tail light into the helmet. Having lights placed high up on a helmet is an ideal location. It will increase the chances of the rider being seen earlier, therefore preventing an accident. However in my opinion, this is a light that allows you only to be seen, not for seeing. I wouldn't depend on the Xnito helmet head light to increase my night vision. There are far better light options, that can be placed a bike with far more lumens to perform that task. BTW Two things to possibly celebrate, Medium sized helmets are now available and I've now understand that the next generation helmets now being released, using a USB-C port.

Yeah. Great helmet. On an eRide in Detroit this helmet did it's job well at over 20mph when a rider collided with Miss GoElectric when he transitioned to the road from the sidewalk without looking. She hit the concrete hard including her skull, but the helmet cushioned the blow. -Producer Tim

@@MissGoElectric Sorry to hear the news... ...I hope the accident didn't produce any serious injuries. Glad to hear that she was wearing her helmet and it did its job well. Wishing MGE a speedy recovery. Maybe if and when she's up for it, a testimony video?

Too small for my head (29") but looks great, if they had an XL size I would consider it.

I've narrowed my eBike helmet down to three of them, and this is one of the possible choices.

There are a lot of really cool helmets out there. This one may be the safest in the form factor and is certainly one of the better looking IMO.

Should I buy this or the Faro1 helmet?
@MissGoElectric
@MissGoElectric Год назад
Faro has not sent us a sample unit so all we can do is read about it. The lights and tech in the Faro1 look cool, but it falls short of the NT8776 Standard for higher speed safety. Xnito meets that standard. I'm not sure if more the Faro 1's more complex lighting and use of fabric will result in greater overall visibility than the Xnito. That said, they surely both exceptional helmets.

What does the rear on and off switch have to do with anything

It toggles power to the lights and changes the modes of the lights. -Producer Tim

While we did post the lumen rating, which is not sufficient to replace a headlight. It is enough to be seen, especially when blinking. These helmets will appear in several future reviews and perhaps we'll get a chance to film after dark.

Thanks for the video. What Xnito is claiming sounds more like an excuse for not having MIPS b/c there is such thing as MIPS and NTA 8776 rating in the same helmet. One doesn't cancel the other. MIPS is not required to have the NTA 8776 rating. I wouldn't say that MIPS is redundant over NTA 8776 rating either nor visa versa. They're different things all together. NTA 8776 doesn't take MIPS into consideration when certifying.
@MissGoElectric
@MissGoElectric Год назад
Can you share with us any helmet on the market which holds both ratings simultaneously?
@Funcentric
@Funcentric Год назад
@@MissGoElectric I ordered the Bern Hudson MIPS for myself. It was between that or the Lazer Urbanize. While NTA 8776 is a certification given to helmets based on testing, MIPS is a physical feature that can be seen on the helmet itself. MIPS is essentially a liner inside the helmet. Some helmets have the MIPS feature and others do not. A helmet that does not have MIPS can still pass the tests to receive the NTA 8776 certification which is what Xnito was able to accomplish alongside other helmets. I would consider a helmet that has both the NTA 8776 certification and as a bonus, has the MIPS feature to be superior to ones that do not have MIPS as far as specifications go.

@@Funcentric MIPS is for bald people, if you have hair you don't need MIPS. I can't understand people like you trying to undermine brands like xnito that really care about your safety, and promote brands like MIPS that just want your money and don't really care about you
@ricardobelfort7506
@ricardobelfort7506 Год назад
I have both xnito and bern hudson helmets and although bern has MIPS and NTA, the visor has broken off, and the chin strap does not stay at the desired length. while with xnito none of those things happened. At the end of the day the decision is up to you, but if I had to choose I'd pick xnito every time
@Funcentric
@Funcentric Год назад
@@ricardobelfort7506 Yes, I did notice the chin strap on the XNito is of better quality as it has padding on it which is absent in the Bern Hudson. The Bern visors though can be purchased separately and yours may possibly be under warranty as well. I'm wary of the Xnito also b/c it doesn't have quite the history of Bern as Xnito is a new company with basically just one product. My guess is that they priced their helmet to the market price that consumers are willing to pay, regardless of the features. The price of the Xnito is along the lines of a MIPS helmet, yet it doesn't have MIPS. Xnito seems more like a $110-115 premium helmet than a $140 one. This will make it tough for them to release a MIPS version of the general public ever realizes it doesn't have MIPS. Ebike buyers these days are quite new to cycling and may not be aware of MIPS at all. Seems like Xnito is taking advantage of that. Weird though bc Xnito's website specifically discusses NTA 8766 and MIPS and further says an ideal helmet would have both, yet their single product does not have MIPS.

A helmet which offers MIPS without protection rated for speeds over 20mph is not a helmet we would wear on any Class3 eBike.
