Excuse the title, but it is 'Tug' action. This video includes action of the Class 60 in its early days in the 1990's until around 2007. Footage mainly includes that in South Wales and West Midlands with alot of the trains working from the Steel works in South Wales to Dee Marsh in North Wales. The Class 60 was the last loco produced for British Railways by Brush Traction with a heayweight capability Mirelees engine. The first locos were produced in 1990 and final delivered in 1993. In 2010 the first 'super tugs' were overhauled for DB Cargo and more recently operators such as GBRf, Colas and DC Rail.

Love these locos, always remember as kids running to the footbridge on a saturday morning as soon as we could hear that drum beat of her pulling the loaded Redland through the station! Good ol times 🙂

Great video. The power of these tugs was amazing. Let’s hope a few more will get pulled out of Toton yard and put to work. Thanks for putting it up for us to watch it. 👍👍👍

This video I would day was filmed about 1992 as the tugs would have been wearing in! As they look new and pretty clean and new looking! Great video of these beasts that never seen much life sadly! A great video of various classes of locomotives past and present!!!😍🥰🥰

In size and body shape they look very similar to a class 47 with a few more modern modifications!!! Both built by brush so it makes sence to update old chassis plus is cost effective! + it Saves money!!!

Good video I like tugs as they was the last British loco built in the uk! Pitty we are buying crap from abroad like Spain/usa we got all them 60s sat at toton rotting away surely there is work for then abroad as these locos never stood a chance! Some was lucky to see 10 years of service as most of them at toton have been there since 2004 I think! Good footage and video I love it 10/10 🥰🥰🥰

Some happy memories there of the Dee Marsh's. Enjoyed working the 60's on those trains, as they were masters of the job, and the best loco I had the pleasure of working on from the drivers point of view, despite having some interesting quirks about them.

Great video. British engineering at its best. Shame they have been under utilised

British rails finest freight loco. These could out perform the 59’s even though on paper the 59 has a slight advantage in maximum tractive effort. The the class 60 could perform wheel creeping at 0 mph. A 59 could only wheel creep from about 8 mpg. This meant it could start heavier loads from a standing start. A fine locomotive seriously under utilised.
