Greetings! Today we had the day off and I decided after speaking with my mom that I would give this recipe a go. I have not had this in many, many years and it was so easy to make that I was excited to share it with you. Look for the recipe in its entirety on my blog in the next few days. I hope you give this one a try and as always, Happy Eating!

Hi Noreen, Don't pay any attention to those negative comments. I've learned over the years that they come from childish adults. As for the chicken paprikash, I made this quite awhile back, and it *is* deeelish!! Thank you for all your wonderful recipes and cooking tips. :)

Diane Milligan the "Internet trolls". Honestly they're sick, and need serious therapy. I don't know why they have to pick on people to feel good. oh well....I love Noreen's way of fighting off the trolls.

Sad to hear ppl have been disparaging here. TYVM for blocking them, they dont deserve loving recipes. Food is a spice of life that brings cultures and differences together at homes and restaurants around the world. Those of us who've visited your home,(here through your videos) are grateful. My first Paprika-sh was actually served with bow shaped egg noodles in Praha (not even in Hungary, but delicious). It was also bright orange ( I was a kid, loved it).

Noreen I'm sorry you have to be subjected to negativity! I LOVE you and Rick. You have taught me so much and both of you light up my day!! You are excellent at what you do and have helped me and countless others to actually cook well but more importantly to actually enjoy it! Please don't ever stop what you are doing and remember only a dirtbag would go after a child. Also I once heard an expression that fits here Mediocrity always attacks excellence!!!!! BTW, I made this and it was wonderfull.

@fraser8402 Now, why would I let some under intelligent life form effect my desire to share what I love doing most? The message I have received today alone, are reason enough for me to keep doing what I love to do, cooking, sharing, teaching and learning and making new friends. Thank you for support and your continued viewership. The community we have here is second to none. Noreen

I was telling my sister the other day about how you remind me of a friend we had, her name was Sandy, she passed away a long time now, but she was Hungarian. She loved to cook and this was a wish that I loved when she made it, you have brought this back into my life and I thank you so much. I never thought we would lose her so I never asked for recipe, so thank you for sharing your recipe. I will be making this very soon. I am gonna have to find the Hungarian paprika though. Please don't ever change your ways due to those heartless people's comments.

When I was little my grandma made Chicken Heart Paprikash (a variant of this dish with chicken hearts and cabbage) for the family. No one, but my grandma, grandpa and I liked it. In my entire life she made it only 3 times before she passed away. It is one of the dishes I just randomly crave, but have never EVER found a version of it as much like what she made as what you have here. I thank GOD for you. Seriously.

Thank you so much for sharing! Almost exactly the same as I make for my Hungarian husband (learned from my mother in law), except I have never seen the chicken browned before. We just placed the chicken pieces into the browned onions and then cover the chicken with broth. I am going to have to try this your way! Looks delicious.

Dear Noreen - I just came across "Your Kitchen" and I love all the amazing recipes. I was particularly touched by the story you told about some people leave disparaging comments. I think that is despicable! My husband, who is Hungarian, and I were watching you make this incredible Chicken Paprikash and we want to thank you from the bottom of our hearts for inviting us into your home and for making it possible for me to cook something for my husband that reminds him of his beloved Hungarian Nagymama! My darling Noreen: As a professional chef and restauranteur (retired) I thoroughly enjoy your videos. Your recipes are delicious and easy to follow, which is what I gauge successful teaching by. For those who make disparaging remarks about you, your food, or your lovely family, let them go eat at McDonalds. It's the best that they deserve. There is an old saying in my business "Never trust a skinny cook." I have found this to be invariably true.

Hello Norden. I came across this video of your Chicken Paprikosh. it looked amazing. However, you stated that some derogatory comments where made about you and your daughter. First let me just tell you to be encouraged. I love all of your videos, your meals, all of your dishes. Even when you showed your dog will. I LOVED That. I'm an animal lover. so I enjoyed seeing your dogs. I think you are a lovely person. your passion for your food really shines through. Please do not allow the enemy to discourage you in doing what you do. I've never made chicken paparikosh, never heard of it. but it loos so good until I am going to try my hand in it and let you know how it comes out. this video was made back in 2011. so I hope you are still cooking and viewing your comments. Hi Noreen, just wanted to let you know I am Hungarian through "osmosis." My husband was 100% Hungarian, and my beautiful mother-in-law taught me to make several Hungarian dishes. (I lost my husband in April of this year due to a major stroke.) Your recipe was exactly the same as I was taught, except we didn't flour the chicken. She just browned it with the onions in some butter. I want to try your way next time. This is one of my kids very favorite dishes, next to stuffed cabbage rolls! Just happened to watch this video again. Love your channel!

Noreen! I must say thank you sooo much & send you many blessings! I have been trying to find just the right recipe for paprikash that my sweetie fondly remembers eating for many years, before I came into the picture 15 years ago. I've tried many but none were right until I ran across this video. I made it tonight (had to go find bone in chicken & Hungarian paprika) and both sweetie & his son are over the top happy, in there licking their fingers and scraping their plates. :) Thanks!!

Thank you, Noreen. You're just fine, don't listen to people's negativity. I'm from Hungary and, as you said, it is basic peasant food and there are many ways to make it. I've always had it as a one pot dish with sauteed onions and paprika as the base, adding the raw chicken to stew, and some vegetables added a little later, stirring in sour cream at the end. But the result is the same. I could almost smell the familiar fragrance as I watched you cook it. :)

@recipelover123 You know, I think there comes a time when we all have to accept ourselves as we are. I have been this way my whole life. I come from Eastern European peasant stock. My Grandparents on my father's side are from Ungary and my Mothers from Germany & Italy. It is what it is. I have severe thyroid disorder as well as a couple other things, but my cholesterol is right on target and my blood pressure is actually low. I love life. They can just go away! You have to love yourself!

Having been raised with my Czech great grandmother, I absolutely LOVE this type of peasant food. You are so down to earth, matter of fact and make things quite easy for beginners. I have cooked all my life and am quite good at it...I simply watch your videos for the pure enjoyment of watching your process...so I know I speak for the majority of your subscribers when I say thank you for your time and effort...Too bad I never ran across you when I lived in NC (now back home in Texas)...I think we could have had some wonderful conversations. As far as the negative comments...I used to be 337 lbs...I worked hard to get rid of the weight as that was my choice due to health reasons (that had nothing to do with what I ate)...but my method of cooking and the foods that I prepared were not the reason for my obesity. There were quite a few factors that had little to nothing to do with what I put in my mouth. Small in stature or large does not define you or anyone else...I may be small now, but I am STILL as big in life as I was back then...and I darn sure prefer larger than life personalities just like your own! For someone to speak ill of a child is purely sickening...people amaze me at the courage they do not possess until they sit behind the 'protection' of a screen thus giving them false courage and a license to be cruel...and it speaks volumes for their own lack of class and intelligence. Ignore them. Keep cooking...and as I was told by my little great grandma from Prague...no matter what you make, make certain that you add a dollop of love in every dish and it will ALWAYS be wonderful!I look forward to many more great videos from you in the future...

Thanks for sharing this family recipe. I grew up eating paprikash and other Hungarian delights. While i have never made this dish, i always wondered went into making it. It is a lot of work, but well worth it I’m sure. It takes a lot of love and good part of a day to do both the chicken and dumplings.

You are such an intelligent fun lady to watch in the kitchen! The advice you give for cooking is honest, researched, and you are just fun to watch. Darn people are so obsessed with looks. Don't we all remember the rule not to judge a book by it's cover? Noreen! Thank you so much! This really helped me. My mom used to make this about 3 x year all my life and she passed away about 10 yrs ago, so I really didn’t know how she made it, as I never asked 😥Anywho, only difference is that she added some sliced chunks of green pepper as the chicken was simmering and it really added a nice wonderful flavor if you like green pepper. Really appreciate your help and good for you for not letting those nasty/angry (angry at themselves, really) people get to you. I love your confident attitude and you seem like such a patient, kind person 😊 ~Cindy

Thank you Noreen! I laugh at others who claim, "that's not traditional!". If you get 20 Hungarian Grandma's (including mine) in a room together, you will have 20 slightly different recipes for Paprikash. But it's all traditional to them and us. Your families recipe is very similar to mine and we used egg noodles. Now, I like to make spaetzel. It's however you want to make it. It's all good!! BTW, you and your family are beautiful. Thanks for sharing your kitchen and family with me.

I am always disappointed and saddened when I hear that people leave hurtful nasty comments rather than praise. Some people forget that you don't have to share your recipes or time but that you have chosen to do so for that - they should be thankful. Negative people love to pull people down to their level - misery loves company. Please keep doing what you are doing - your videos are great and much appreciate :D

I grew up eating Chicken Paprikash, too, but the way my grandmother made it was as a soup, with heavy dumplings. In my home now, I prefer it more as a stew, so I use far less water and make many more dumplings to slurp up the delicious paprika sauce. I don't even bother with sour cream, unless I have some in the house (not too often). I even make it in a crockpot and take it into potlucks at work. Now I'm thinking I need to make some when it gets colder here in Ohio. Thanks for introducing it to those who weren't lucky enough to grow up eating it.

thank you for sharing your awesome recipes and genuineness, never let the negativity affect you, there will always be negative people but most of the time they are negative because they don't have an amazing mom like you. Keep up with the delicious meals!

@mommafletch Thank you so much for your lovely comment. I really appreciate knowing that you enjoy my videos! I love making them and I don't do it for any other reason, but that I enjoy sharing what I do and getting the feedback from everyone on here. I am always going to have some people who don't want to play nice. I really don't let them bother me, but I wanted to put it out there that it will not be tolerated and yes, I have lots more viewers who are a blessing just like you! Thanks!

I think I like this version much better than the recipe I grew up with. My grandma made it more like a stew (which I do not like stews) but sour cream makes everything taste better. Thank you! Looks yummy.

I just made chicken paprikash for dinner tonight! My recipe is very similar to yours with a few exceptions, but I make the homemade dumplings. This is a fantastic Hungarian dish! Thanks for sharing this video.

Thank for the invitation into your kitchen. It's nice to have a contrasting recipe. My recipe uses 4tbsp sour cream, making a uncooked roux to thicken. Also, celery and carrots are used. I'm going to have to try to increase the sour cream. While inauthentic, I wonder how it would taste using a sour thick yogurt?

Noreen, thank you so much for such detail in making this dish. I am African American and I love trying different dishes. I've always wanted to make this dish. I have all the ingredients but not the sour cream. So, tomorrow this will be my dinner. I am going to subscribe so I can get more recipes. I also will be making Nokedli to go with the dish. Thank you, again.

I don't know how much more "traditional" you want this to be. Both of my paternal grandparents immigrated here from Hungary. This is how she made it and it is how my great grandmother made it. While it may be different from what you are used to, it is what I know. I have said it before and I will say it again. There are most likely as many ways to make this dish as there are people who make it. Probably not one way only that is right or good.

Miss Noreen, I just wanted you to know, when your channel pops up in my Subscriptions, it just makes my whole day!! Nobody on here cooks like you do! I couldn't even watch this recipe until I had been to the store to get chicken thighs because I knew it would just frustrate me! For however many ugly people are on here, I'll bet you have tenfold (at least!!) who think you've hung the moon!

There will always be rude, nasty, insecure people in this world. So you're right, don't let them rain on your parade. They are not worth a second thought! I wouldn't put up with their crap either. Keep doing the good you're doing!!

I had to see your recipe for chicken paprikash to see how closely it matched to how my grandmother made it for my family in the 50's and 60's. Grandma's version was more soup-like, and she did not add sour cream. As an adult now, I've kind of developed my own version, including many more onions to saute and I've added sour cream to thicken my sauce. I guess it all depends on which part of the Austro-Hungarian Empire our folks emigrated from, and possibly the Great Depression also impacted how the recipe developed. Anyhow, I'd love to sample your recipe now. Thanks for a great demonstration!
