Classic mini wiper motor and linkage overhaulIn this one i give hte wiper motor and linkage a bit of an overhaul to get, it works but not as well as it should. So hopefully after this itll work perfectly.
Nice Job Adam, great videos too, thought I was watching Keith Miller for a bit there! 😃did you move the gears around in the wheelboxes? they wear in one spot and moving them can line up an unworn section, the mid pipe section looked a bit bent too, maybe straighten a bit? I find re-greasing the wheel boxes makes them much more efficient! Cheers and keep up the good work..... Graham.
Thanks Graham that's a real compliment. I twiddled them around a bit and they spun feeding the cable back in. I couldnt see anything obvious with regards to wear in one spot but it makes perfect sense.
Did my '88 mini wiper motor and cable drive, cleaned/degreased. Cleaned/de-corroded electrical contacts at parking switch using a bit of brush on gel rust converter. Intent was to help speed up the wiper motion as it was pretty weak, high speed mode barely any difference. I did not take the pipe & wheel boxes off car to clean them. Found only mild speed improvements afterwards. So might need to have a go at the pipe/wheel boxes one day....I'll wait to hear if your efforts make the difference.
I was reading that thinking oh no have I wasted my time 😂 it all looked really clean to be fair just a bit of dried up grease. The speed was OK but it would only park in the right place in heavy rain
@@Thecarislife I'm wondering if slow arm movement is a symptom of a voltage drop elsewhere, like at the steering column stalk switch contacts, from corrosion etc.
Hi Adam, liking your refurbishment so far! Like your board with the to do list and parts to buy...very organised, good thinking! Think ya mini has a great look about it, did you get your bonnet from ABS motor sport? Had to laugh..as you plan to add parts to your dash and I plan to take some away on mine! Great stuff 😊
