@@GlenKellawayfromthebasement Lol...your reactions are priceless!!! The kitschy stuff, yeah, it's not for everyone, so you certainly aren't alone in your dislike for it. I only own a small portion of Lou Reed's catalogue, but yeah, there might be some things you can get into, might take a little digging, though (or more prodding from Larry, lol.)

Magic Time was a fine album..But with such an extensive catalogue it would not be a go to Van album for me..

I will buy it for sure!

@@GlenKellawayfromthebasement Glen, I've been thinking and the one VU related album you should hear is John Cale's Paris 1919. Little Feat are on it, and it is arguably John Cale's best album. Larry doesn't have any John Cale yet (I don't think) but I bet that situation will change. I had about 8 John Cale albums in the past, his career encompasses a bunch of stuff you wouldn't enjoy (like some of the Island label albums and some of his experimental albums) but Larry probably would like at least all the stuff I do. However, Paris 1919 is a singer songwriter pop album, and sweepingly beautiful. And he can sing. He had classical training and he was/is both the most melodic and harshest/most avant garde member of the group. I know Nico albums would drive you up the wall, and I like those too....not sure if Larry has heard those. The first one, Chelsea Girls, he should at least get because Lou and Jackson Browne wrote songs for her on it. Cale produced The Marble Index and The End where she plays and sings a lot of her own material and they are dark and dirgy. If I could compare John Cale to anyone, it might be Leonard Cohen but that's not that accurate. He's John Cale.
